She was a cult playwright-screenplay writer-novelist-philosopher genius whose first book (Bonjour Tristesse) was written as a teenager and became a runaway best seller. She went on to marry several times, have a child, become bisexual (her affair with the lady editor of French Playboy created somewhat of a scandal) and a sports-car speeding cokehead but still she churned out the Awesome.
She lived exactly as she pleased, was super brainy in amongst all the decadence and was dubbed “the charming little monster.” Here are some of her thoughts on things:
“Love lasts about seven years. That’s how long it takes for the cells of the body to totally replace themselves.”
“Money may not buy happiness, but I’d rather cry in a Jaguar than on a bus.”
“Whisky, gambling and Ferraris are better than housework.”
I feel like she has some excellent points here. Her astro: Sun-Mercury-Midheaven-Chiron in Gemini – her Mercury is Retrograde – again, many of our most renowned poets and writers have Retro Mercury! She had Neptune in Virgo Rising (ruled by Mercury) – so you see ultra-Mercurial with that ability to mesmerize the masses seen so often in Neptune Rising peeps.
Venus-Lilith in Leo – all that snazzy decadence, prowling around on the poly-amorous pounce, the drugging, the sports cars, the friendships with people like Ava Gardner and Truman Capote…Her Moon-Saturn in Pisces, her actual books were often bitter-sweet melancholic and cynical in their observations.
She looked, I think, ultra-Mercurial as well. If someone can be simply described as “gamine” than our Mercury is never far away.
