Saturn Survival Secrets

Soon, from October, Scorps will be copping Saturn in their Sun Sign (and the destiny-reeking North Node + a massive New Moon Eclipse in Nov but that’s another story, see your Scopes) BUT given that Virgos & Librans have just done Saturn or are finishing up this ghastly growth transit, how about they give some advice to our Scorp…?

Everyone does Saturn on their Sun at one time or another – the good news is that it is only once every 29 years, just like Saturn Return. Both astro-passages are challenging but they’re also results central. If you want to be really successful but bad tempered, Saturn-Sun is the transit for you. Okay, i jest. You can be in a great mood with a Saturn Transit but it will be because you’ve just juiced your broccoli sprouts and are sitting down to crunch some numbers or have some more mature insights of the day.

ANYWAY…in general, Virgo Peeps did Saturn on their Sun over 2008 and 2009.  Librans born in September did their Saturn Trip in 2010, middle Libras were Saturn Tripping in 2011 and Librans born October 16 to 22 are doing Saturn now-now-now.

So what would you guys tell Scorpio about the perils/awesomeness of having Saturn in your sign?

    • Ex-partner is a scorp, no1 son (13) a double scorp and son no 2(6) a pisces w/scorp rising. Maybe Saturn will mature my boys into getting along instead of their constant fighting and bickering for supremacy – I would like that so much.

  1. 8O

I just checked my chart – Saturn was going over Gemini Moon, Sun and Venus in 2002. Also 3rd house was packed with transits including, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and True Node all conjunct…8O

All I can say when it comes to Saturn is to just:

Do the Next Thing! (make sure it is constructive otherwise it is pointless)

    I haven’t stopped… 8O

    • Oh wow – thanks BG… reading this made me think… and scurry off to Astrodienst to check… Could it possibly be that the worst year/s of my life (thus far) were when Gemini was in Saturn?? (I wasn’t hip to this stuff back then) Oh ffuq me… the period from late 2000 – mid 2003 was completely derailing, i.e. affair, divorce, resigned from 11 year job (see ‘affair…’), met and married highly unsuitable man, etc, etc).
Thankfully there are many kind others here who can offer sage advice to the Scorps while I take a moment to digest this…
I’m afraid I made such a mess of things during this period that I’m at a loss… oh, hang on, no… I’m a Gemini… ;-) , and I have a fridge magnet given to me by a friend at that time. It says “If you’re going through hell, keep going”.(Winston Churchill) (Which, I guess, is another version of your advice BG!)
      Good luck dear Scorps!

    • Yeah – Saturn on Gem sun was a huge career change – back at uni, studying law full time and working at an entry level job in law firm to pay for it. Full-on but so worth it. Disciplined daily habits like i’ve never had in my life – whole family was stunned at my laser-like focus and determination. I was more so…but a positive life-changing period.

So on my experience earlier this year is when scorpios might have initiated some change, putting in effort towards it, making some progress, so boosting confidence. ALL ABOUT TO CHANGE PEEPS…but my experience was positive, so hopefully that will be your too.

      • that’s the best comment I’ve read so far K-Gem!

I’ve been trying for a career change for a long time now. My Libra MC is being pulverised by Saturn at the moment. Maybe I’ll finally arrive by the time Saturn moves into Scorpio.

  2. Virgo here, just this: it feels so f***kin’ awesome when you come out of it!! Back then, I remember a post by Mystic saying something like: in 8 wks time, Virgos are going to be feeling like dancing in the streets….& it was hard to feel that until some veils and burdens lifted. You will want to kiss the ground that nearly swallowed you up! So very worth going through healing/psychological territory (if that’s your thing) – I needed too badly and it worked for me, cleared a lot of crap & so much better boundaries after it! Emerging stronger, more powerful ‘cos you get to know yourself in the midst of the grit. But then, I was never shy of a growth challenge; it ain’t all easy-going though!
Gotta give lots of loving credit to MM, who gives us such a great heads up in these “transhit” times! Thanks divine Mystic x

    • It was a trying time for me as well. Saturn overbearing and overshadowing my Virgo Sun in my 11th House. Felt I was at odds with the world. Just felt off kilter. Starting studying astrology in greater depth then too for relief and it helped greatly. Thanks MM and co!
I was sick of dealing with toxic crazy people at my work that were always drunk or coked up and I ended up doing all the work while they fuqued around( literally). Virgos can easily get stuck in the Cinderella role.
I was finishing up my degree and had it with my work so literally walked away. Left them with their thumbs up their own asses.
      It was liberating!
I packed up and moved to a nicer warmer Southern climate and said good-bye to the dreary gray, ever-winter weather of the bleak NW, where I grew up.
I paid my dues it was time to start living a better life.
      It’s a very trying time.

  3. I have Saturn and sun in Aquarius in my natal chart. Thank you Universe for at least putting it in my 9th house. On the down side – my Neptune is in Scorpio -smack dab in the middle of my 6th house. The Node of Neptune pointing straight through like a laser beam. I’ve decided at 49, after hundreds of crappy jobs – and tons of education – to align myself and deal with the high side of Neptune. I am writing grants for animal non-profits and am finally HAPPY with my career. Sex is a whole other issue… My grandfather was a Scorpio, my brothers ascendant is Scorpio, my father was a Scorpio, and my mother has her moon in Scorpio. My best friend was a Scorpio, and four best romances of my life were all Scorpios. Advice? Align with any other planets that might be problematic in the transit. Cause it will really suck if you choose to ignore it. Seriously!

  4. While I can’t say I’ll be sad to see Saturn leave Libra, lol, its not because it I feel its as rough as I did a while back…its because I know it means its time to move forward. It will test your inner strength, your resolve and even your sanity…but if you have patience and persevere, by the end of the transit you realize you’ve come so far, and you have such clarity. It readies you for the next stage of your life, like a tough, but ultimately loyal life coach. It definitely teaches you to dump the inner and outer baggage. No fear!

    • Stellium in Libra. This has totally been my experience too.

      Well put!

I am going through the entry into the calm, CLEAR and zen phase of the Saturn in Libra transit.

It was NOT easy to get here, but I WOULDN’T change the process for the world because the other side is SO MUCH BETTER.

And I am totally happy when I have juiced my veggies, lol Mystic.

Someone bought me a sugary treat the other day and I exclaimed, “If you loved me, you’d buy me organic veggie treats!” In jest of course, but it spells out where I am on the hedonism scale at the moment.

Having said that, I am dreaming of a well deserved bottle of good quality champers. But all in good time.

      • I love this:
It was NOT easy to get here, but I WOULDN’T change the process for the world because the other side is SO MUCH BETTER.

So true! It all has meaning, so I am viewing the tough stuff as an opportunity for learning, instead of just hardship.

And I’ve developed an ironing obsession. I haven’t ironed my clothes in years, lol. But I iron everything now, even my collection of crappy band logo t shirts. Has this transit left me with some random OCD-control-freak issues? Anyone else developed weirdo obsessions like this?

        • I think it isn’t so much OCD as expressing your style. Details matter more to me, but as a rightful expression of my self that’s my control. You know? I think its OCD if you go about nagging people to iron tshirts, but doing it for you is you being you. Rock your compulsions.

  5. Wine, jogging, yoga, caffeine, REALLY good friends, scream-therapy, independant cinemas with in-depth films that make you laugh, salads, soups, nuts, more wine. Good luck!!!
Btw, could that pic be any more apt??? The Saturn-veteran Virgo on the stairs looking up at the Scorp: “You have SO got it coming Sister!”

    • The most Scorp looking woman I have ever seen. Bet she’s got loads of dark secrets, things you couldn’t even dream of, all planned to the hilt.

      • I was thinking Saturn in a Scorp costume; the one on the stairs as the Scorp sun mortal, trying to ready herself for The Transit. Saturn calls to Libra, “You’re welcome.”

  6. Really must add that, jokes aside, I totally agree with L Cat and TEDtheKITTY. Saturn truly develops us into our better, braver and happier selves.

  7. you will be put in situations where you will need/want to re-engineer your foundations
you will learn to trust yourself more
you will work smarter and seed results than ever before
    you will be hated more
you will learn how to Mars-up and not give a fuq
    you will get results
    you will get an attitude

have a map (plan) of how you want your life to be
    go about re-engineering it
    hang on
    never give up

    • My advice to all pluto people would be to say fuq repression and follow the mythology:

Join with your younger brothers neptune/poseiden (pisces) and jupiter/zeus (sagg) and overthrow the repressive old tyrant once and for all. Saturn – who, let’s face it – castrated his father uranus to get HIS power and then swallowed his sons pluto and neptune because he didn’t wish to let go of his power and wealth – doesn’t deserve all the good press he gets round here!

No wonder pluto, the eldest son, turned into a volcanic distrusting control freak who still felt most at home in the underworld after his youngest bro Zeus (Jupiter), who’d been spirited away by his mum before Daddy could get to him, forced Daddy to regurgitate Pluto and Neptune.

ok so I am mixing up the roman and greek stuff here and speaking in jest…
but seriously, younger scorpios, ensuring you don’t do all your brooding/worrying (very saturn) alone is important to survival during this transit.
Repressing deep feelings is never helpful, so don’t let Saturn do that to you, or you’ll just self-destruct. Hopefully, though, he gives you the patience to develop additional mastery of yourself (eg in terms of how you translate your deep feelings/desires into haute scorp ways of relating, or other constructive accomplishments).

I’ve already been through this transit in this lifetime. Now that saturn is early in my 12th yet again and heading towards my scorp asc/stellium and sagg sun/merc, I can’t say I’m looking forward to the whole juggernaut progression all over again. So, er, if any of you pisceans or scorps want to join me and any other interested saggies in an effort to take saturn out, I’m up for it….! .

  8. Wow, I haven’t thought about Saturn Sun transits. I’ve only been interested in astrology as I now understand it, not just sun signs, for about a year and a half. I just realized that Saturn was conjunct my Leo Sun in September of ’06, and at that time Pluto was within 1 degree of my Asc. I guess I had a double whammy. The low points were eating magic mushrooms by myself and crying for about 1.5 hours in my backyard about what a lonely person I perceived myself to be/the degradation of the Earth, and my house flooded that Nov.
I got to start over materially, and I also started my first and only (as of yet) long-term relationship. I’m not totally sure it’s the right one, so still dealing with decisions from that time.
I guess I don’t officially have advice for how to get through it, just thought I’d share my story. How’s this – lift weights, run, jog, take a boxing class, anything that helps you burn massive calories and release aggression. I got a super physically demanding job right before this transit, in a loud, dirty, male-dominated profession (lumber mill). I worked so hard for the first year, my schedule went: work, EAT (literally shovelling it in to repair muscles, anything I could get my hands on and still losing weight), and SLEEP. And the environment at work was sooooo noisy that I could scream any curse words and profanities I wanted whenever I wanted and didn’t have to worry about offending anyone because they couldn’t hear me. I guess it was the right thing at the time??

  9. —Don’t get cocky. Saturn actually supposedly “likes” Libra and it still sucked for us.

–Never underestimate the power of being organized. If you can’t do it yourself, hire someone who can help you.

–READ THE FINE PRINT ON EVERYTHING.

–Learn to love beige and grey because that’s all there’ll be for several months.

–If you need to lose some weight, this is a good time. I haven’t been this thin since 2007.

–don’t try to avoid Saturn’s lessons beause if you cheat and don’t get caught, you will get caught the next time Saturn gives a re-test. Invest in pain.

    –No short cuts.

    • Very excellent advice Electric. With Saturn you are not a gimp as such but more like an indentured servant in training to work in the main house. At least it feels that way for the time being.

Personally, my Saturn Return/transhit annoyed me to the point I literally was waiting for time to run through so I could finish it.

However, what I remember most about that time was really respecting limitations, boundaries and reality.. that understanding limitations isn’t about giving up or feeling limited per se but maximizing what resources you do have and being okay with having priorities. That everything can be accomplished a step at a time, and even if your most awesome opportunities do NOT come about through hard work and occur by kismet or happenstance, knowing you have done the work nonetheless is the ultimate confidence.

It is that confidence which will pull you from doubt in the future when as it happens in life, you find yourself in a battle. It PROVES you. It authenticates you. And it becomes part of that indelible X factor that sets you apart.
I would say to anyone on the Saturn Slow Train, everything you do know is preparing you for something you haven’t even yet dreamed of.

The work is for you to become who you were meant to be, and do what you’re meant to do.

          • I think it only sucked for libras that needed a slight mental tune up… you guys can be a little fantasy prone, only libras that were ahead of facing reality didnt see much. Thats one point of astrology, learn before the planet comes by. Then it shouldnt suck..

deny or hold to a fantasy and try and think you can shape the universe to your liking, then its a trip you will take.

            • Are you speaking from experience? Sounds really judgmental. I won’t judge someone as not being evolved enough because they’re having a rough transit. When Saturn hit my sun, my sister died, I got divorced, my parents got divorced, Mom relocated away from me, all sorts of things that had been brewing, popped. I don’t think that’s a reflection of my evolutionary state at the time. Its just a transition phase I had to go through to have the space to grow the new life that I am growing now. Rough times don’t only come to the unevolved and I think its unevolved of you to imply that they do.

              • No im speaking from astrology, in general. Its not good to say everyone has a bad transit. Its not true, learn about death divorce lovong yourself spirituality and it wont be so hard. Learn saturn before a visit, learn uranus. It doent always have to be so rough. The planets are teachings in themselves. There to study at any time.

                • I’m not saying that everyone has a bad transit. I am saying it is unfair of you to judge those who do as being somehow less evolved or, as you’ve clarified, less of a student of the planets. I couldn’t watch or learn how it felt to watch my sister die until it happened. Her death wasn’t my evolution – I couldn’t have pre-planned for it – but it did inspire my evolution and understanding. Some events require experience – dying as a physical experience, not a metaphor – cannot be understood solely through esoteric study of planets. The wisdom I gained was to not judge myself based on life events outside of my control. Your post sounds very contrary to that hard-earned wisdom as you seem to be saying “If you have a tough time, its your fault for not doing the prep work.” Ridiculous.

                  • I agree with 12th house V.

Life happens, we evolve BECAUSE we face and deal with it. Challenges, and who would deny Saturn accompanies challenge, do not only visit the unevolved

    • OMG! E E L you have said it all so succinctly!

Against the odds I am becoming addicted to my ‘to do’ lists and can even poke at the administrivia pile without feigning a must do distraction.

Finally I am working on my years of indulgence weighing me down. The crosstrainer is now my friend!

I have even been known to speak my mind as my need to tolerate miscellaneous crap dissipates. Those romantic delusions no longer hold sway- well hardly any!

I’ve just been reflecting on my previous Sat return and have come to a most intriguing insight! Many aspects of my life which were really mediocre at that time still lived on. I find that right now I am reclaiming the essence of me before the shadow hid my light.

Somehow I feel that this Saturn return has peeled away some non authentic shades of me. I am rediscovering my true colours! Only wish I cleared it all last time! :-)

The regular assurances from MM that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel have been a huge support!

      • Yes i left that out. It’s like my truer colours are coming through after an abrasive exfoliation. :)

ah yes romantic delusions….still have them…but less likely to jump in there and follow on a whim.

    • Virgo’s Saturn transit for me went like this…test, fail, painful lesson, re-test, fail, painful lesson, re-test, fail, painful lesson……I finally learned my lesson. Got a tattoo of the Saturn symbol so I never forget those painful lessons.

    • I agree 12HV – ridiculous. I prepared for years for my Saturn return and the truth is I could never have fully prepared for it without the experience of having had it :-) and even then I doubt the impact would have changed much at all – that’s the point. Not everyone has traumatic saturn experiences I think that’s down to past life & your chart – saturn is karmic. I think family members often have major saturn aspects at the same time ( am I right that most long-term relationships have saturn aspects?), which can intensify the experience.
I love the idea of the tattoo Older/wiser Virgo now that’s very appealing :-)

  10. 29 year olds and multi scorpio. The last 2 years have been trying. It’s really scary to think it’s about to get a bit “worse”. Egads. Keep the advice coming please! It sounds like hell!

    • yah but u r a Scorp so you should be at home in hell, no? underworldly and all,

seriously scorpio is the sign of the PHOENIX & saturn – if you get with his rules – delivers success & fulfillment beyond belief. true.

      xx

      • My scorp son has just set his ‘civil union’ date for December 23rd (he and his girlfriend will be returning temporarily from Europe) He was born with Sun at 9.18 and Saturn at 7.29 of scorp and on 23 Dec Saturn will be at 8.47 Scorpio. How is THAT gonna work!

          • I have a scorp friend he has biting sarcasim, i hope saturn nips that in the but, he secretly likes that i know astrology and is jealous at the same time.

He laughs at the most serious and intimate of times because he would not find it in himself to be as honest and forthcoming. He has Chiron in pisces though so a little bit of a GOD complex.. Hes is torn to find there is something watching him constantly.

Astrology is not about submittance but remeberance..

    • Scorpions can be ravingly effective, efficient and unflinching. They can also be downright louche, but i presume you are a higher type. The thing about Scorpions i have known though is that they are FIXED FIXED FIXED. This means, like all of us, when they choose to believe their own version of truth, which is not actually any more than their own perception, they can be surprised by it. All the Scorpions i have been close to have experienced this sort of shock. They don’t flinch, but they don’t like surprises.

Scorpions have depth and patience so see it as your chance to earn yourself at your best. And beware depression through isolation. Scorps trust few but you are deeply loyal and should be able to call on that loyalty from the trusted few.

  11. I have Virgo Sun, Venus, Pluto, Nth node (late 6th mostly 7th house). Mid 2008 – 2009 was a fantastic time for me. My partner and I had been separated for 2 years previously and had decided that we really did want a future together, so we decided on what kind of future and set about making that happen (he has Virgo rising). We felt we had developed enough inner security to sell up our homes to buy one home. Everything fell perfectly into place, just like we had done the work required by Saturn in those years apart to move on to the next phase. There were some tough times between us when we were apart but we just kept on working it out. Sometimes I can’t believe how grown up we became and how good it feels to behave like a healthily individuated couple (In our 50′s)! I believe Saturn will give you the prize if you have the courage to persevere.

  12. these thoughts are fab re saturn – remember that saturn transits are when you shed ‘tolerations’ – ie; shit you are just putting up with, inauthentic friendships, non-you goals …it make a fantastic double whammy with pluto and chiron ANd actually saturn in scorp is also going to be aspecting chiron, pluto, neptune, uranus in the first year. it’s like authenticity or else in the bit of your chart with scorp xx

  13. What if Scorp is your rising??? Toro sun, Scorp rising. Am currently in high functioning only mode, taking off all sorts of concrete boots so as to enable rising to the surface + mega amounts of psychic & emotional cleansing ie: seeing the inner bullshit dialogue in all it’s hideous glory….

  14. And by the way, lots of really good stuff can come from Saturn transits. Stuff that lasts.
Saturn over my Venus, merc, and Sun gave me friends I’ll have for ever and a few years in a city that still makes me go all mushy when I think about it. Saturn return got me out of a job I hated and set me on a path to something I’m really passionate about. And in hindsight you forget all the tears, stress, sleepless nights etc. ok, well you don’t, but at least you know you got something good out of all the pain.

  15. Saturn opposed my pisces sun 08/09

My advice would be to get a good dentist as Saturine “night grinding” can shatter back molars

I had an extraction and then failed implant

And take care of your skeletal system with swimming, yoga, mineral supplements

  16. “She stood in the storm,
    and when the wind
    didn’t blow her away,
    she adjusted her sails.”

    - my favourite quote during my combined ( lucky me! ) saturn transit/return. I’ve had saturn going one by one through my natal saturn, sun, jupiter and pluto all in libra. AND when I had a saturn return it was also opposing my aries moon.
Saturn on jupiter sucked but it didn’t change my little universe like saturn on natal pluto. Life as I knew it fell to piecies, my beliefs and sense of personal integrity were shaken. I am still in the process of ‘calming down’, reaching the balance of the scales, meditating my way out of panic attacks and bitterness.
I feel older and less ‘adventurous’ but i am liking the feeling of the solid ground beneath my feet and deepening respect for my self. I am rebuilding my foundation, i am in no rush for a quick fix, wow am I finally growing up?..

    • That’s interesting your world blew apart with a Saturn-Pluto transit. Mine did so similar to your description — fell to pieces, beliefs and personal integrity shaken — except mine was a Pluto transit of my natal Saturn. (I just spelled that Satyrn, lol. Saturn and satyrs; no, I don’t think so. :) )

My scales never balanced. They were blown out of my life and a completely new measurement was created. I have no name for it as yet, but it measures happiness in a whole new way.

Good luck with the rebuilding. I am sure it will be the right texture.

    • Have you read the poems of Mary Oliver? Especially Wild Swans. It brings great comfort to my Libra Moon, ( likes poetry, literature, calm explaining of emotions) so I really hope it may help a bit for you, too x

  17. 1) Go to the dentist 2) Go to the gym 3) Get rid of idiots 4) Gird your loims 5) Wear black 6) Be very very ready for it……

  18. Yes – do tooth and bone. Dentist and osteo. ALSO there is heaps of Saturn material in the Saturn category…me raving on + helpful comments from Saturn Trippers

  19. You will be amazed with what you can achieve by the end of transit. Saturn will chisel away all the gunk on your being, leaving you as you should look like to outside. I will all the luck to low Scorps, haute Scorps will pass with flying scores, that am sure.

  20. Sheesh, where to start?

I have had Saturn stuff going on for ever starting with its return in Aries, then over my moon in Cancer, my Mars in Leo, my Virgo stellium (Jup/Sun/Pluto/Uranus) my Libran Venus/MC/Merc conjunction which opposed my Chiron/IC/Saturn in Aries…

Not sure I can even begin to make sense of all that has happened, death of both parents, gender reassignment, self employment, redundancy x2, relationship break ups…

Next up will be my Scorp Neptune, then my Saggi ascendant…thank god for that Saggi ascendant and Virgo/9th house stellium! The gift of laughter and philosophical outlook has been invaluable.

  21. Arghh more Saturn currently 29 years old experiencing Saturn return along the MC, I feel fine except for the paranoia RE: Age and my appearance. Wish it would kick my butt in sorting out my education and maturity. Instead I can’t help feeling like I’m already over the hill.

Now I get Saturn conjuncting my Sun what next lol. Will keep reading the comments hopefully get some tips :)

  22. My ex-bestie is a Scorpio with loads of saggitarius & some gemini. Wears an excellent mask and is a superbitch – if you don’t do anything wrong she’ll make something up and spread it about and very good at drawing people in and convincing then then her latest trivia is earth-shattering news – she is very good. When I was close to her she was on the verge between the higher & the lower, sadly chose the lower I had to get out quick. Shame – she did make me laugh though – not just because she was so comic ( one of her ploys) but because she was so text book Scorpio – other than the non-stop talking/bitching that is.
Sorry folks but I have one thing to say to that Scorp – KARMA – ha & I have a front row seat :-)
There is something about this site that brings out my alter-ego :-)
But I will be joining you in the last 7 degrees and I’ve had the run of Virgo & am currently undergoing Libra then a short break…….In fact all that bestie stuff coincides with Saturn passing through Virgo………..I’m off to check it out now…………………

    • Right here goes it was a kind of replica but a year or two later of how my brother started behaving when my dad got ill & then died ( saturn conjunct moon then conjunct mars, then pluto/jupiter). But consider that she has loads of saggitarius which is square my virgo stuff – saggi is my 2nd house & virgo is hers – there was deceipt in business involved. Around the time this started coming to light Saturn was conjuncting my uranus opposite chiron & pluto was squaring it, both venus & mars were in scorpio, uranus & jupiter were conjunct in pisces ( & her mars) squaring both virgo & saggi. Neptune was conjunct chiron squaring my ascendent/neptune/venus.
No wonder I found it hard – harder than anything else that had gone on – trust had been betrayed & things are still coming to light :-( Oh well.

  23. O crumbs a Scorpio wants to take me under her wing and have me work with her. I could learn a lot. I do admire her and she’s honest. She seems to want to protect me from bunches of crap (these are people). She runs a tight ship.

Or i could work with the hard work good fun high standards Gem, meaning i’m pretty much left to get on with it as i will. Hard work but maybe not as much learning.

Do i even have a choice i wonder. I’ll be asked but i don’t ultimately decide. This post has really stopped me in my trax.

Oh yeah and Saturn will trundle over my 12th house, at 1 degree Scorpio.

    • I have just deleted my response re – scorps! I’m sure you know there are higher & lower everyones. Based on my recent experience though I would choose the Gemini.
Sorry I cann’t say more, just not feeling terribly enlightened at the moment.

    • hmm, millie, there’s a pickle of a decision – might actually be a good thing that you get asked but don’t decide.

I also had scorp boss once lure me to work for her, appearing upright and protective….and gawd, what went down was epic, and not so protective….unless I obeyed the tyrant and every destructive thing she was doing to those she disliked and gave her credit for my work.
Mind you, Pluto was in Scorp (her first, my 12th back then) so I’m not saying it would be the same now – all the scorps I know have dialled back on the tyranny/power hunger since back then and saturn in libra has been teaching them to be fair.
Given that Gem has its own dark side and given transit of Venus cross Sun, retro venus, and gem eclipses, and given that I’ve noticed Pluto in Cap making some gems lowest of low scorps for the mo (far better than scorp at hiding themselves – ie their underlaying emotions/motives, or at least those of their twin, who may actually be driving behaviour – from themselves), it’s a tough choice. Jupe moving into Gem might suggest take the Gem, but NN about to transition to scorp suggests otherwise??
Good luck. Facing similar work dilemmas myself, with limited control over outcome.

      • Thank you, Anonymous! Thoughtful astronalysis. I love the Gem, but something is tinging in my soul about it. Gem’s my Descendant, too. I respect the Scorpio but she can also push my buttons, just quietly, with her thrilling in other people’s violent misery. Happened today again. But that’s not the work part so i can deal. NN in Scorp? More food for thought. My 12th house is 0 degrees Scorpio.

Working with Gem is to work alone, answerable to Gem. Descendant.

Working with Scorp is being part of a larger group. 11th house transits, oultined on Virgoing Out Post.

        Yes, ultimately not my decision.

        • Hey Mille,

You can learn a lot either way and in that about your work or about yourself so you won’t loose or choose wrongly :)

You are wise enough to know this but I am just reminding you of that truth.

And even though I sense, from what you wrote, someone else will make the decision you will also.. as we do eh. Don’t be passive in it all. But perhaps choose what you want outside of the two, eg qualities, goals, learning etc and see which way the dice rolls… then trust it rolled the right way.

Anything that tings your soul or pushes a button offers opportunity to magnificent things .. usually great growth and insight into ourselves, the best wisdom of all. For starters.. know you know and trust your instinct.. I’m pretty sure it’ll guide you right x

          • It’s the enduring, phoenixed back Scorched Earth.. dunno why it didn’t appear but will own it anyways :) :)

            • Ay ay Cap’n Blazes! You put my feelings into words. I shan’t be passive, but i have to be careful not to push the other Scorp, my boss. Either way, there’ll be learning, for sure! I’m not afraid, only of my own impetuousness that sometimes gets me what i want then turns out not to be, or walks into a minefield. It has been said: milleunanotte rushes in where both angels AND fools fear to tread.

              • Angels and fools.. and Mille.. giggles.. keep an eye out for me.. I’m walking it somewhere too and I’m always happy to throw in a random ambush or diversion strategy,xx

              • Aw Fi, thank you, but not at all.. let’s just say equally valid eh. I’m a fan of natural unique expression from all. At the end of the day there isn’t one way to say or do anything.. there are many and all are valid. Lovely to be back blogging, and to be treated to a compliment from you too! xx

  24. Scorpio is my 7th house (with Uranus there!) but Im gonna take this positively as I’m getting married in November and the saturn might be an apt alternative to my freewheeling uranus in that house.

My man is a scorp rising with sagg moon (and sun gemini!) so he has A LOT going on but he is a natal sun-saturn conjunct, so he is sorted.

My advice from having a back to back Pluto transit, Saturn return, then saturn in virgo giving my Sagg sun the merdes?

Be a grown up, face truths, be real, and be as healthy and diligent in all areas as you can. Nothing false or crap survives saturn.

  25. My moon and rising sign are in virgo, my sun sign and saturn are in libra. My mercury and mars are in scorpio. It’s been an interesting number of cycles. Plus many of my planets have progressed into scorpio – I expect the continuation of previous saturn themes but with a scorpion flavor.

My advice as well as some observations
Wear black and other neutral colors
Take care of your teeth and skin
Hit the gym and you will lose weight, you don’t have time to eat anyway.
You will start to look great and have nowhere fun to go
Remove all bs from your life or it will be removed for you.
Just start being honest with yourself! You might as well.

As for me, I am 31 and considering pursuing more creative adventures (film, visual art) even though I have no formal training. Blame it on my leo in the north node, I am have been grinding my wheels in jobs for great causes and finding myself lost in the mix (south node aquarius sixth house). It’s interesting how my south node now seems boring and inauthentic when it used to feel very comfortable before. I always wonder if the north node is suppose to represent an abandonment of the south node, or an integration of both. It seems that north node/south nodes themes play out differently for people and I am still trying to make sense of the various expressions.

    • I lived my south node much more before the saturn return and now seem to be living my north node more before afterwards…but still bringing stuff from my south node with me.

      I am who I am.

      • Pepole can regress back into their south in times of great strees or defense. Nothing wrong with that, its stayin there that is the problem

            • I’m trying to wear my hair with lots of volume – I figure that’s the first step.lol

As a south noder in Aquarius, I love to lose myself in thought and a cause.

  26. I have moon in cap and asc in cap. i have managed to survive the pluto moon transit, and i am still not done with the asc transit. it will still be happening when saturn moves into scorp. i have a stellium of scorp in my 10th house, and one more scorp planet in my 11th. i’m tired just thinking about it! LOL. i exercise and eat right and am fairly organized and trying to get a business off the ground. i am anticipating and trying to take care of the things i know saturn would bitch slap me for, ahead of time. i think it’s going to be an amazing time, but i am still tired just thinking about it and a little nervous.

  27. Does this mean Leo’s did Saturn on their sun 2006/2007? I wasn’t astro savvy back then but it really was the worst time for me but having said that I’m glad I went through all that then because it taught me so much about myself and how I deal with stressful things. It also unearthed and addressed a lot of issues that had been festering away for years and that which I was in denial about how much they actually affected me. I’m glad I got the chance to deal with it instead of having it still following me around now like some dark shadow.

But coming out of it is great! You truly get growth. My advice:

Don’t ignore the issues, deal with them, learn from them
Don’t just try to superficially ‘fix’ issues, ask why is it like this/ why does it affect me this way?
    Exercise. Exercise. Exercise.
Find things that inspire you, positive affirmations, write them down, cut them out, whatever, keep them and read them often for motivation and reminders of your strength and what the important things are
Talk lots to and confide in positive and motivational people who are going to help you, not judge you and keep you moving forward

Sending lots of Leo luv and positive vibes your way my scorpy friends :)

  28. Have Saturn conjunct my natal Uranus atm. In the 4th. I am trying to refrain from surprising myself at inopportune times as I trundle about the house.

Soon it will pass over my fifth house. I am thinking I better party quietly and use it as an opportunity to do Capricornian things, like Network. Children’s seatbelts should be double checked? Romance had better be spreadsheeted?

Saturn will eventually hit my juicy Scorpio Moon in the 6th.
When that does happen I promise to feel the pain but do it anyway – whatever ‘it’ turns out to be..

    • hey andro, saturn will soon be going into my 5th too. I am seeing it in creative realms – planning for cutbacks or some kind of nose-to-the-grindstone, shit-just-got-real scenarios.

I don’t have children but if Saturn means “reality” then am going to take extra care with contraception! lolol

maybe also “romance” gets boring (ha). or stricter. or non-existent. GAH don’t know.

      • Structured creativity is so much more interesting to me, I love Saturn being involved in that way! Even my artistic taste runs that way, might be a great thing?

As for the rest… I think GAH covers it!

  29. My advice for Saturn transits is to Pay Attention to external wisdom. There are authority figures (not necessarily parents, police etc but also experts, mentors, teachers, and the like) who are out there to Help You. Tune in to what they are saying. Adopt the attitude of the student, Padewan, un-initiated. You don’t have to slavishly adopt ideas but listen, learn, trial the wisdom in your life, make notes. “Embrace necessity” as someone else wise on here says sometimes. Don’t arc up at the sensation of being disciplined – cop it sweet, stay back to ask the question, do one more lap, read the last chapter, do your drills…. that kind of thing. Sleep, drink water, contemplate adulthood.

  30. 2008 – 2009: Deaths, destruction of every less than authentic assumption I had about myself, found out what happens when there seems to be nothing left (it’s not as bad as you imagine -there’s less you need to worry about).

Post saturn: I’m grounded in a way I would have been mystified about before. I see the point in wearing comfortable flat shoes, even though they’re what I previously would have called ugly. All of a sudden I don’t care that my warm jumper is a bit baggy, I like it… so there!
I found a throw-my-head-back laugh that takes me by surprise when it happens.
    I like me more

    • Wow I can really relate to just about everything you said specially the part about being ridiculously grounded and wearing comfty shoes.

Strangely enough Saturn on my Sun, Merc and Mars didn’t do much but show me what a hot ass mess I am and slowly strip away everything I thought was real…it wasn’t until Saturn in Libra conjunct my moon (I’m Crab rising, Moon/Pluto in the 4th) that I’ve really started to integrate the lessons and love them! I love not being at the mercy of my emotional turbulence. Now I feel like I can face my Saturn return in Scorp with a backbone (& buns) of STEEL!

      • Do we ever firm up our identity? Mine’s still journey.. but not quite at the breakneck speed of 2008-2009.

Hope you’re starting to enjoy the good stuff anon!

PS. I still have the stilletos. They just don’t speak to me much any more though. One of these dark moons, I’m going to declutter them to a lucky OP shop.

  31. who is that gorgeous creature in the photo!!!? The Scorp looking one? Anyone know? Obviously the one on the left is Audrey. I want to see the movie.

  32. When I was 20, Saturn went through cancer and I have to say, I was so on it. maybe it’s because i was 20 but, I worked out, held adult jobs and went to school. Payed off CC cards and moved my 20 year old self to the city, partied constantly, had a boyfriend, maintained balance through it all. Now, Saturn on my moon and Pluto and well Saturn, in Libra. This has blown. But maybe 27-29 are the reckoning years any way, no?

    • 28-29 is when first saturn return occurs, so you must have had saturn in libra natally? saturn return (to sign it was in at birth) supposedly reckoning years in many ways. having had both saturn on sun, and saturn return, not sure which was hardest – maybe it depends on how your natal sun and natal saturn are aspected natally, and by transiting planets. but having also come through saturn opposite moon also squared by pluto recently, i agree: saturn/pluto contacts to moon really tough, especially when happening together, and with the uranus in aries issue adding a sparking/unpredictable element. Feels like emotions are taking hits from three titans – and if, as it sounds, you are a Cancerian, then these titans have all been squaring or opposing your Sun at the same time. Cancer has been really hammered by all this – pluto opposing. Saturn in Scorp, trined by Neptune/Chiron, and trining your Sun may bring some relief from the ongoing challenges posed by Sun opp Pluto, not to mention shorter term challenge of Venus retro/transit of/eclipse/South node in Gem.

  33. Funny. I gave one Scorp advice about this: “You better get your shit together. Saturn is going to be in your sign starting in October. When it was in mine, it sucked.”

I found Saturn on my Sun to be way harder than my Saturn return. My natal Saturn is in Cancer, so my return was about being healthy, and structured, basically preping to be a Mom, which I was by the end of it.

Saturn on my Sun was losing everything that wasn’t 100% me – including all social supports – so I had to dig down into the core of who I am to survive. Then again, my sun is in the 12th, so maybe that’s a factor.

Anyway, I don’t think I gave great advice to my Scorp friend, so let me try again. Scorpios of the world: when Saturn hits your Sun, let go and go with it. Remember one of the symbols for your sign is the Phoenix. Whatever comes your way, whatever you have to let go, know that you will rise again. Good luck.

    • Once agian, consult an astrologer, go over what the planets mean.. Or ..what there doing to you at any givin moment. There will be less strife, and yes you can study all matter of phenomena before said events take place there by lessoning the burden of transits that take place.

I never said one was not evolved. If you have a hard time believing libras hold on to fantasy consult libra HAute lo libra astro or any other plethora of venesian supeficiality info….i have more than a few libra friends who love to look the other way.

If you feel gulity its not on me really…

      • I get the feeling that you’ve never encountered a physically traumatic event. I know Libras too. And I don’t feel guilty. Nothing is on you but you, we both agree on that. Anyway…good luck with your transits and staying ahead of the curve.

    • 12th house — Though not going to have a Saturn-Sun transit, Saturn will be making its way over my Scorp ascendant, and I was just thinking about standing still and taking hits; you know, instead of running away from them because you fear the consequences. And then I come here and read your let go and go with it advice, and it really resonates.

Slam me, Saturn, I won’t run.

        • The more I think about it, the more I suspect Saturn-Sun transits are like being outted. The only metaphor I can think of it being gay. You can decide, hey, its been 30 years or so and this isn’t changing, I am what I am and take responsiblity for being happy, or you can get outted by someone/something else and freak. But it will come out. Unfortunately, it doesn’t mean suddenly being gay (or whatever) will be more acceptable to anyone else. It only means that you have to be more acceptable to yourself. And that you have to do what you have to do to be happy/content/joyful as the creation you are on this planet. No one is above the stars. And no one can decide how they are made. But, you can take more responsiblity for your rights on this planet. Unfortunately, again, taking more responsiblity for that always seems possible. :-)

          • lol im gay but, “outing” id say opportunity- for authenticity.. by outing by sexual orientation can very dangerous at times.

Nobody’s above the stars just from them, are them. Before we get to this particular incarnation. We set up certian transits for authenticity. Once twice thrice or even more.

the beams of spiritual placement and planetary awareness that shine on us at night and reflect even to us in the day were decided in conjunction with the creator, and that is us, that before embarking on this dream they would be there to help light the path- just in case we should we become too full of hubris.

I cant truly tell on this blog where people are with there acceptance of this spiritual art. I dont know if Its because im not much of a make my way type of guy. I have always been very open and celebrated every time I found out im not doing everything on my own. Because its been so hard thinking that possible. Being parentless might have something to do with it.

But revel in the fact that you can relax, have another life, and choose the circumstances you are placed (because you placed em) for your evolution no matter how hard they may seem. When you pass through the death canal as you did of birth. They both lead to life..You will see there both one and the same. You will see the whole time you were safe in the arms of a loving creator. It can feel o so real, but it is just like the dreams you have when you have a nightmare and think is so real and wake up in the comfort of your bed.

      • I hope it helps sweetheart, because Saturn won’t let you run anyway from anything. That’s what makes Saturn such a bitch. Just keep in mind that whatever loss or hit you take makes room for the new. And have faith, its not about learning to take any abuse or crap, but its all about taking responsiblity for your own health and joy. Wishing you more of both :-)

  34. I have saturn in Aries in the 5th opposite my sun conjunct mercury 11th/12thcusp, So i’m used to the saturn energy – well more so since my saturn return. When saturn was in capricorn square my natal sun & natal saturn I had my son & called him Samuel as this means ‘gift from god’ I also had my daughter around the time of my Saturn return ( opposite my sun). Both of them have been lights through difficult dark times. So I think that no matter how hard it is there is a gift there, something good going on, not just the process of transformation – it’s not all bad. My saturn return was really hard – we lost practically everything including our health and had to start again and I was aware of it. One thing we had loads of was time and we spent hours in the woods, on the shore, in the garden and it was time well spent because I never knew how precious it would become again.
There is always something good to see you through – find it.
I find looking back every 7-8 years you should get some idea of the Saturnian theme, as he squares, opposes & then conjuncts. Also find the story – I have all my planets ( and most asteroids) in Virgo, Libra & Scorpio – Saturn & Chiron in Aries. So a transit first hits my moon, then mars and so on ’till neptune/venus.

  35. So how long will this transit take? I already know I’m on the way to the destination. Yes I can see it coming, just not what it is yet.

I’ll guess I’ll have to pack a cut lunch, a saddle bag, lots of water, a good attitude, and some qi gong I suppose.

  36. wow does that ever make sense! back in 2008 i had saturn on my virgo sun and virgo rise. THat was tough, for the first time in my life I had very bad skin! ( saturn-skin) and teeth. I remember my dentist giving me heck, and i almost always had a perfect checkup prior, so i felt really really in the dumps during that time. For me it was a final goodbye to partying, I was 21 at the time and had taken up serious health regimens: clean eating, no smoking no drinking kinda stuff. Emotionally was tough too, I really had to learn to define my boundaries because everyone seemed to be letting me down, forcing me to depend on only myself!

i wish i knew about astrology then

  37. GREAT POST Thank you Mystic and Co :)

Personally, as a Scorpio, I’ve been wondering about this a lot. I’ve been getting slowly initiated into Saturn business with my many virgo planets re 2008-09- including natal saturn in virgo, then watching saturn reverse drive reverse over my Libra IC and slice through my natal pluto re 4th house (which felt slightly wizard of oz) as it trines my ASC ready to enter my natal Scorpio 5th house. These moon nodes are already bouncing on my natal moon and about to kick my sun-merc-uranus combo too, So I won’t get the brunt of it until later on then I can look forward to Saturn moon and venus etc, of which time I am sure I will be made of granite. As if I need to be more commanding and critical. Jesus. I’ll be a laser beam. A diamond? One can only hope. I’m not afraid of hard work, I’ve done the diet, seen the light, the nutritionist, the healer, balancing my hormones, my chakras, my life?? but foundations. ehhhhh. Smack Smack. I built my own. with whatever rubbish was around me at the time. When I can afford to I replace the dodgy build with something good. Pluto saturn was about the dismantle. From Scratch. I’ve been trying to time my life with that one so I could do a mass cull (kill?) of everything deadwood. The last 6 months has been a slow build out of hell into something else. I was too young when I did my pluto transits I am hoping with age on my side to do something good with Saturn. *stands humble before the diving board into hades open hellmouth*

    • well if you’re going to plunge off that diving board, think double somersault with a twist in the piked position…and a clean entry, little splash…

  38. soooo… must admit, I have not read everything above..
so franlly responding to Mystic’s post:

Saturn passed my Leo Moon in 2006, it went on visiting Venus (9 Virgo), Sun (22 Virgo), DC/Mercury/Saturn/Pluto (16-25 Libra)… but then havin Saturn natally and Lillith/MC/NNN conjoined in Capricorn (Hi Pluto Transit!) makes a bit of a Saturnian, I guess.

still: Virgo with Current Saturn Return tries to reflect…

    what to say?

1.do not try to find answers, look for solutions.
    2. reflect and follow your instincts (no, not hedonism, but common sense)
    3. this time will pass…
    4. keep your head up, gracefully walk through the mud that seems to try to break your spirit
    5. it will pass
    6. endure
    7. take breakes. consciously
    8. sleep whenever you get a chance to
    9. work. on everything. with everybody.
    10. do not listen to your ego
    11. it will pass…
    12. allow yourself to enjoy fun-time witg friends (see 7. – take breaks)
    13. work your ass off.

so much for that. it sucks. but somehow, it is about becoming yourself, be the person you can be. efficient – great – healthy, but never forget to take breaks, otherwise you’ll become a sociopath;)

    • This is what I’m learning now during my own first Saturn return. I have to keep working hard and believing in myself, even as things are going to the dogs. I know I’m going to get through this, I just wish it wasn’t happening at the same time as this wonderful Jupiter transit I’m supposed to be having right now.

  39. my saturn return oh so many years ago (1989) saw me leave an unsustainable (lo-neptune) life including the love of my life who later died. my saturn is in capricorn(10H) & was flanked by uranus & neptune at the time. pluto had been over my scorpio (8H) neptune which is opposite my taurus moon(2H). i was living in someones backyard, all my possessions were on the back of a truck & eventually ransacked. i literally walked out with a handful of papers that were precious to me…everything i owned fitted into a duffelbag. i no longer “liked” myself, i had compromised my own principles, life was hell…..and then it became an adventure and a healing, two years of anonymity, fresh air, sunshine & exercise & going with the flow. here i am awaiting the second saturn return amid the reinvention of my life yet again!!! i could have died back then….i didn’t want to, i literally had to act or admit that i was indeed what i feared i seemed to be. hard as it was at the time it also felt good to be true to myself.

  40. So, I’ve been thinking about this post quite a bit in a good way. I think Aqualeoscorpmn is right in that the better you know yourself, the less the movement of the planets rattle you. But I also think there is no end to the depths we can discover within ourselves.

Saturn transiting Virgo Sun in the 12th outed me for my psychic abilities. I didn’t want to be magical. Freaked the shit out of me. But my sister died, a karmic relationship from hell re-entered my life, his Mom died. I connected to things I didn’t *believe* in. And I was isolated from social contacts through circumstance, so I had no choice, really, but to accept I know the unseen. Its not like the unseen was what I wanted it to be – a fantasy – it was rough. And I talked to people about it. Because it involved them. And because I had to. I had to stay sane. And that was a big change for me – to be myself like that. To say “I don’t know everything around here – but I do know this” and know it – back myself – and learn how “right” I’d been about things all along. And how that’s *me* who knows things, not the people around me. Saturn hitting my Mars-Pluto-Merc combo starting at 0 degrees Libra helped with that lesson too.

Anyway, I mention this because while I can’t make many generalizations about Scrops, I will say this: don’t be afraid of being seen as you are. No sleuthing and hiding. Recognize *your* needs and back them – words/actions/whole deal. Whatever you need – it isn’t for you to choose. We don’t chose to need to eat around here, you know? Back to nature. Its for you to care for yourself, to make your energy comfortable here. Not for you to judge yourself about what it all means. All you need know to master Saturn is – what do you need? If you try to approach it from the angle of what should be, what you believe, what you think others think, etc: you’re fucked. And, either way, you’ll still be you – needing what you need. So, whatever secret power/need Saturn may out when it hits your Sun, it *is* a power. And it *is* yours. Or else Saturn wouldn’t touch it. Saturn’s demand is that you take care of you. Its personal like that. No more “think I cans/shoulds/theys” you know? I’m sure house placement has an effect, so consider that. And have fun with it. Have fun discovering yourself. Nurture a dark sense of humor. We’re all immortals here. Laughter helps. Go, Phoenix, go!

  41. My moms bday was september 10th, I think you guys have a hard time giving yourselves credit, You did have a choice you amazing woman!! And you remembered the magic within you, THAT SAYS ALOT. There is no depth to the things we can learn I agree. Life is so amazing, im sure you can choose any planet, any type of being, maybe a planet maker, or a multi-universe organizer in a next life. Its ok that your parents didnt show you that you were magical. And says so much if you remember, and then CHOOSE to realize without much help. If I was your brother I would have helped. But its so much more special if you do it on your own.

    • AquaLSmn your words are really heartfelt. I guess it all supports the notion that we learn best from experience!

It is one thing to be told something and another to live the experience. That you discovered the magic within without being told makes it all the more precious and real.

The journey rewards those who tread the path rather than those who are merely spectators.

Love that you honour your mum’s path too! :-)

    • Funny thing about Saturn – your choices become very limited. Be who you are or face an increasingly undesirable alternative. A or B doesn’t feel like much of a choice in that framework, but you’re right – we all get to make choices around here. A metaphyscian I worked with said each situation is one to three parts freewill and the rest is fate. That means fate can take up to three of the four in a situation, but we are always free to go the other way. I think Saturn transists are when fate yells the loudest at us, but we are still free to go against the message. That’s some pretty bold design on the part of our Creator. Freedom.

  42. More set-backs and false starts?? Yikes! How long will Saturn be in Scorpio and how will it affect Scrops with Pisces risign? would love advise on how to handle this…..

  43. Cry a lot… it’s theraputic.

Just be sure to gather up those tears and use them later to mop the floor, fill the coffee pot, wash your hair, etc. lol

I’m one of the late October’s going through it now so I’m only half kidding. You’ll want to conserve the shit out of everything, but ironically this will be what brings you MORE. More freedom, more “things”, more self-esteem. Probably more tears, too, but it’s alright. You Scorps are my heroes, you can handle ANYTHING <3
