Witchify

You know when you’re talking with someone and it’s like you’re from different solar systems?  I had this on the weekend, with a Libran guy, when talking about, well, everything but in particular acupuncture. He said he’d get it as a last resort for if he had a knee injury or something. And i said i’d get it every day if i could, that i think it’s totally magic. And that i meant that literally. Cue cognitive dissonance.

But the thing is that Acupuncture (like Feng Shui) works on Qi – the same energy that moves the stars and makes daisies thrust up through a crack in the concrete to score some sunlight is also within us and all around us. Feng Shui btw is basically acupuncture in space. Qi is magic. Like “The Force” of Star Wars. Peeps have been attempting to harness it and manipulate it for millennia. Qi is what makes synchronicity so strong, the word Occult just means “hidden”.  The reason the Chinese got so good at this is because they didn’t have “witch” burnings…so they were able to develop their magic. When you have TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) herbs to (say) shift Liver Qi Stagnation, they’re not just working on some obvious physical symptom, they are working to clear blockages of the mind, body and maybe even soul. You know something is up because you drink the bitter brew and then three hours later: wham, surfacing of a suppressed memory, rage, whatevs.

I get emails all the time from people wanting to know how they can basically “be more magic” or understand astrology and the occult more…I’m sure they’re mystified when i recommend acupuncture/feng shui/TCM but these truly are the most immediate and sophisticated ways to start working with magic. Work with Qi and witchify your life. And of course, there is no better time to start such a project than a week with a Full Moon in Scorpio lol.

  1. so true Mystic. The beginning of my Chi Gung practise and my first workings as a witch happened at the same time and are very intertwined to me.

Tuning into and workign with the life force of the universe definitely enhances pagan craft.

I’ve been wanting to do a ritual based on Chinese five elements instead of western four for ages now. Hmm must revisit that.

  2. Thank you for the reminder. It has been too long since I had acupuncture last.

Synchronistic, have been thinking heavily of how some people and I are from totally different planets/ solar systems. So odd.

  3. I totally agree! I recently started getting accupuncture done for health problems I’ve been having and it’s been amazing. So much so that I’ve decided I will go to school for it.

  4. Hi Mystic, talk about beautiful synchronicity, I picked up a coupla bottles of Chinese Herbs yesterday on a whim to help detox the liver and help increase Chi etc etc. I am in Brisbane and this particular TCM Doctor I go to is fab but am moving to Sydney for the next month and won’t able to go to him for a re-fill if I need one. Then I thought, I wonder if Mystic could recommend a herbalist!? Do you know of an outlet in Sydney for such magical remedies? Big Thank you! x

  5. Just back from acupuncture aah pure bliss, as I was in a rare state of mind to clean beforehand and its cured me of that thought!
which I just read that its the last thing I should have been doing in a Leo moon.

  6. First acupuncture session I had in 1998 was to clear up sluggish ovaries (pituitary gland function) before going on ivf, which resulted in pregnancy within the month (no need for ivf). A crianial osteopathy session seven years later to fix a back injury highlighted the ovary issue and a second pregnancy (again within the month) .This stuff works, obviously the pregnancy part was down to other factors, but my qi was re-energized.

  7. I have been totally spoilt by having 20 or so years of acupuncture by a true healer with the hands of a kitten. Amazing. Have not found anyone anywhere near his touch and ability. He cured my scoliosis, and any manner of aches and pains that Western docs had no idea how to ‘cure’. I had an amazing first aid experience with acupuncture when I jammed my arm in the lighting-rig winch handle, (at art school) Severe bruising on my elbow bone, o u c h . Imagining I’d be incapacitated for weeks, I had an already booked in sessions with the acupuncturist who cured me so as the next morning there was no pain whatsoever in my elbow and I had the smallest yellow bruise. Truly amazing, but he did grab my arm that day and squeeze the bejesus out of it which hurt more than you can imagine . . .but was clearly worth it.

My teacher called what you are describing Life/Mind Energy. If you think of it as Prana you can literally breathe it in. It really depends on your headspace, but it’s always good to be a Taoist about ‘not forcing’, but receiving. Emptying out the vessel to make room for something ‘else’. Getting our heads to shut up. Being like a hollow reed. All the great esoteric traditions have their own means of basically ‘emptying oneself’, of quieting internal chatter and letting something grander in.

  8. And it’s Samhain, the witches new year if you like. Time to remember your ancestors and those who have moved beyond this world and to prepare for the coming winter (season of the crone).
Tonight is a great night for banishing what did not serve you this year and giving thanks for what did.
    Happy witchy new year

  9. Beautiful post and great advice.

I find there’s “inside” qi and “outside” qi. I’ve seen many (I’m certified in many qi-shifting modalities) who get the body work done and achieve some change physically, but can’t seem to shift their external circumstances. They then re-manifest the physical problems. It takes an ability to move things outside of you too, for a happy and peaceful life.

Qi shifting body work takes a certain kind of “charge,” and qi shifting in the outer world takes a different one. Just my experience.

    • I like this perspective. I guess I work on the principle that to shift something external I have to be prepared to shift something internal too.

  10. I first had acupuncture when I had a bad fall and injured my knee. The doc I saw was totally contemptuous as I was overweight and offered no help at all. I went to see a guy who trained in China who worked (still works) in Fremantle, and I walked out without a limp. After I nearly carked it with heatstroke in 2009 (my BP was 220/160, heartbeat 40) and ambos thought I’d have a massive stroke, I was left with BP of 165/110. Saw an acupuncturist in Nambucca Heads and within two visits my BP was 120 over 80. Great stuff. I go berko when I read the medico stiffnecks criticising acupuncture because they just don’t understand the nature of energy and its free flow through your body. So close minded and blinkered. Plus I’ve visited cranio-sacral therapists, my body LOVES this therapy, it’s gentle but so dynamic. Because North Cyprus is only recognised by Turkey, there are no huge pharmaceutical companies here, you mainly go to a chemist if you need something, they’re very well trained, and they only sell herbal and pharmaceutical products (bought some wonderful sandal and cedar/patchouli soaps), not the supermarket-style pharmacies I left behind in Australia. There are no KFCs, Big Macs, Shell, etc., here, very little billboard advertising. Amazing stuff, and I’ve just come across someone who does ayurvedic medicine. Luvverly.

  11. and I adore accupuncture, have been seeing my TCM doctor for over 20 years now, hes cured me from cervical dysplasia, and very bad weak lungs, considered allergic asthma, yes Qi energy!

  12. Mystic thanks for the reminder been so busy . Ran into my acupuncturist a couple of days ago calling for appointment to get a tune up . Been neglecting my self !

  13. Weird, have been thinking of trying acupuncture for a variety of reasons, and now this post. Wow.
I have found osteopathy miraculous for shifting emotional energy as well as physical problems. I can actually feel my negative merde shifting from my mind when my wonderful practitioner tweaks my neck and back.
I really need to sort my Qi.

  14. Agree MM. I get it regularly and have also been quoted to say I’d have it daily if I could!!

I’m currently working with Qi Gong. There are two types, one is medicinal and has similar magical qualities but you can do it yourself, daily. It’s very powerful but I’m still a novice so that is more of a statement of anticipation not of experience.

  15. I believe the intuition is the most underused/understood ‘muscle’ in the human body/soul. To ‘get into’ magic you need to build up that muscle. For me, the I Ching, the Animal Cards and my garden, do the trick. None of which take any money.

  16. I love it SO much last week I travelled 8 hours to see a particularly good TCM doctor and 8 hours back. It’s the best, without it my health would be screwed on so many levels. I actually see Western medicine as the complimentary these days.

  17. Great post. Yep, the qi is the thing – the energy behind astrology, all forms of so called ‘alternative’ medicine, feng shui (love the description that feng shui is acupuncture in space). However don’t forget our own traditions – the more esoteric wicca, the more practical Western herbal medicine and naturopathy – well actually I think all three of these can be both esoteric and practical.

‘Vital force’ has been a fundamental tenet of herbal and naturopathic philosophy, but is getting more and more squeezed out of these training courses and continuing practitioner education as the disciplines are buying into the need to be increasingly ‘evidence based’.

  18. @Mystic — You’re spot-on, Baby ! I love that you’re broadcasting the virtues of TCM, maybe it will jar someone into a new mode of action to wow-up their life. That’s awesome.

  19. Yes, cog. diss. so …frustrating. A nice girl I know had a healing and after years of attempts – fell pregnant! She has had 8 months of morning sickness but refuses to see a healer of any kind.

Now I am a little with pity I’m afraid. She complains about it and I kinda just agree it’s tough, but without sympathy – she chose this sitch imo. Sleeper awaken!
