Mystic Footwear Revelations
Neptune rules Pisces – Pisces rules feet: a footwear revelation would seem to be nigh, don’t you think?
I just had mine with Vibrams. Once i thought they were an affectation, now i’m hooked – there is no other kind of gym/running shoe i’m wearing again. Seriously, it’s been two days and the benefits are already mega-apparent. Walking feels amazing, your feet feel fantastic and there is a sense of being more connected to the ground beneath you. Posture? Effortlessly awesome. Vague knee pains during/after a work-out? Gone. Balance? Brilliant. I believe these things have profound spiritual benefits, i truly do.
Okay, they took me half an hour to get on. But that was only the first day. Then as i’m poncing down the street in them, this toddler starts screaming “Mummy, that lady has scary shoes on!” But well, one can take a bit of ridicule in the cause of getting one’s awesome on and i swear, these shoes (and their compatriots) are the future.
Emerging Problem: the more you wear functional footwear that your body just vibes off, the harder it is to wear “foot coffins” or heels that throw out your hard-one postural balance/structural integrity. They feel old-era. Or is this just my Saturn-Moon transit? Balance-obsessed lol.
Thoughts?
I love these!
what about socks?
Nuh! No socks – liberation from socks! Bliss
Yaaaay! That is the best part! I dislike socks, even in winter!!
Occupy bare feet!
no blisters, then?
I have 3 pairs of these. Love them!
Yes there are toe socks that go with them. I like the eco-wool ones. They are more stink resistant.
Try the Invisible Shoes – no need for stink at all. And they look much nicer than Vibrams
Actually I go barefoot all the time, but work and going some places in public is gross without shoes due to dog poop or broken glass.
You’ll like the Invisible Shoes then – they’re Huraches, but made with Vibram soles and nylon laces, in a range of colours
They have videos of different tying styles as well. I went for a no-toe, slip on, with red laces and Celtic shoe charms….
They’re fairly cheap, even with shipping from the US, and best of all – they’re like being barefoot, but no double gees, prickles, glass (tested that one myself) or dog poo.
Also, the cat weed on them and I just popped them in the washing machine.
Also: Unlike Vibrams, if you pick your tying style, they look just like fashion sandals – you can wear them to work no worries !
I’m not allowed to wear sandals at work. Vibrams count as a closed toe shoe.
They look ghastly! Never in a million years would you see me in a pair of those.
Agreed!
They’re hideous.
I felt the same about Crocs, very ugly, until I put some on and kept them on. Great for walking through creeks. These do look pretty weird and ugly and the idea of a barefoot shoe to an iconoclast such as myself seems too silly for words. But I’ll believe a Pisces every time when it comes to ‘shoes’, about how good they are. My only hesitation would be wearing a synthetic shoe that encases the foot and doesn’t allow it to breathe.
And without socks!!! My poor feet are rattled by the very thought.
my ex-outdoor trainer used to wear them, he swore by them, and was constantly going on about how its so unnatural and goes agaist so many years of humans/nature by padding up fett right up, ..might give em a go, like those monks who could run quick as light on the balls of their feet, for hours … they werent in no padded trainer .. makes sense .. nice one Mystic. xx
i dig em. I reckon i’d need another colourway, with pale skin, (being a ginger and all), i need a more natural colour way…the ones in the travlleing piccie look completely natural and normal to me. xx Neptune into pisces indeedy.
Wonder if Twinfish would like them on her Eco Tour walks ? (Both her and Baristagem have been quiet of late, hope they are ok) x
I am teetering on getting a pair too. They are great for river/rock walking and you just throw them in the wash when you’re done.
A friend who’s a long-time long-distance runner swears by them.
I think the reason they were invented was uranus in pisces, innovation in feet, maybe they will finally make fashionable versions of these shoes now that neptune is there. If they look to silly you can get new balance minimus shoes, they have the light touch perfect fit of these vibrams but are regular shoes that dont look silly, but you give up feeling the ground a bit, but get more protection.
people with a really long 2nd toe can;t wear Vibrams comfortably but they can wear stuff like the Merrell bare foot shoe.
aw im sorry, it probably wouldnt fit me either, I have a weird toe from a soccer injury, it got popped out but came out and went into itself so its not bent to the left or right but instead looks just a little shorter, the trainer said he didnt know toes could do that and had only seen that happening to fingers. Now every step I take barefoot it pops pretty loud ha, bet these new balances are a nice color and look cool anyways
I am so glad you mentioned this, being a “classic” foot sort. I am intrigued by the concept because I love going barefoot but am also tenderfooted.
I will check out the Merrell bare foot,
Using an umbrella as a sun shield in blazing 40 degrees is also traumatic for small children.
I love the idea of these shoes. Do they fit really narrow feet? Other than Birkenstock (narrows), I have been completely ostracised by the ergo/eco/healthy shoe manufacturers.
They do fit narrow feet
I went it to try some on and the best ones to start with apparently are the ‘classics’. I went into barefootinc in the city and they have a website: http://www.barefootinc.com.au
OH these are totally awesome!
Could never wear them no matter how good – too ugly!
Reminds me of Al Bundy (Married with Children) and his God’s shoes! Actually my son would love a pair. I have suggested he save his money.
Oooohhhh been dying to know if these shoes are any good or just hype. Thanks MM. So tempted to get some. The scary shoes comment cracked me up.
I’m in total agreement Mystic!
Before finding these I couldn’t run without getting back pain – these make running a joy!!
I’ve got black ones – my Mum calls them my gorilla feet – not attractive but hey… good posture is worth it
Well there’s a freaky thing. I am a sagging with moon in Leo and have the black ones that a colleague calls gorilla feet…and I am pisces rising…
*sagg. Obv.(hoping you week was okay)
I LOVE these but haven’t yet bought them. I am Pisces Rising and have rarely found shoes that my feet appreciate. I also have a big foot which makes it even more frustrating to buy shoes. I often end up having to buy men’s trainers because some women’s trainers only go to a size 10-11 and I need a smidge more room than that.
I am just having a squiz around Vibram (thanks for the link Mystic!) and it looks like they don’t stock any in my size so they suggest I look at the men’s selection…
I am size 12 & I have the mens and womens in the 42 – both fit like a glove – although there is a little room in the last 2 toes (I have a long big toe)
BEST SHOES EVER – total revelation for someone with both 1. fussy long narrow feet & 2. injured her coccyx in 6′ heels at a wedding!
6 foot shoes???
My foot generally doesn’t fit into 42′s. The only time was when i found this great shop in 2005 on King St in Newtown, been around forever. I found it just before they closed down. I bought 2 pairs of gorgeous classic black heels size 41!! – which I adore – cost a mint. Never have I found another 42′s that actually fit. I still have them and they are very well looked after!.
I have the opposite problem. My feet are so small I often have to buy kids shoes. Don’t think they will make them in my size.
That must be lucky at the sales where most are very small or very large.
viva la revolution! footwear that gives bliss
having spent a few scary months flat on my back ..not able to get up without pain…spinal injuries,
I’m always seeking footwear which enhances being able to be upright for longer….more adventures I can go off on.
I shall definitely be getting some of these.
Thanks for the thumbs up review.
I hope you feel better very, very soon. After a few months immobile, the freedom of moving around is simply intoxicating.
There is no inbetween with these “shoes???” Im thinking you either love em to bits…or they make you grimace when you look at them……
Its a grimace from me…even though they look like they may possess superpowers…Mercury might like a pair though??
Other than a 12th house, I have no Pisces going on in my chart, BUT I have Mercury in Gemini in the Third House and I totally think that my Merc is the nudging me to give them a try.
I would, however, find a less obnoxious color.
yea yea go through the colors a lot are a lot less in your face and some of them sort or blend the toes in together with their colors so they sort of look like regular shoes at first sight….. :O but i love mystic’s little shock, of course she had to put up the most electric and out there one to freak us all out right?
There are more styles than the ones shown above. and I can’t wait to get some when I have the money!!
Look like to much fuss to put them on for my liking.
After 2 years of barefoot in the Islands it was very difficult to wear shoes of any description, nothing feels as good as bare feet.
The first time in heels after the sojourn was punishing, had to slide along ground. Only Nikes were comfortable.
Previously though would always take a pair of ballet flats with me in bag when going out to trip the light fantastic in heels.
Dislike sling backs in any shoe. Don’t understand their purpose.
My boots are made for walking.
Very cool!! I wish they had them in my fave colour – green… On second thoughts, maybe not such a good idea. Being petite in stature I’d probably end up looking like a leprechaun
“foot coffins” Too true! Torture chambers too. I hate heels.
Moon in Saggo feels more comfortable in flats or sneakers. You never know when you might need to make a run for it.
NO!
1- The very idea of something between my toes bothers me endlessly. I can’t stand dirt or lint between my toes! I do go barefoot alot and my feet get dirty being a country gal. That is fine though. I would never wear socks with toes either. It makes my feet feel suffocated.
2- They look weird and ugly.
The only reason I could see wearing these is rockclimbing. That makes sense.
They SUCK for rock climbing. Do not wear them for that unless you like busting you butt. srsly…
HA! Good to know then. Well, then I will never wear them. You just shot down my only possible scenario….well maybe river walking. But having lived on rocky river and ocean forever, it is best to relax the foot and just walk.
i’ve got 2 pairs, including the ones pictured. i love them so much, they saved my running life, for real. the only drawback is that they don’t look too good for a night out, and they make you loathe the shoes that do look good for a night out.
exactly, i’m kind of fuqed now. Vibrams have made me unlikely to ever need another massage or osteo again but they’re not exactly hot dating shoes. But you know what? Boxers love them. Also, peeps i know who have worn them for more than a few months say it’s goodbye cellulite. So maybe you get so fit that nobody cares if you look like an alien. Seriously, a slightly bung knee that i just thought was endemic to being me has GONE. The pain, not the knee.
Mystic, if you look on the website they have black ones with sequins! Haha. They would be ok for a night out. And also I second the cellulite being removed with barefoot walking- haven’t owned the vibrams yet but being barefoot almost constantly in Hawaii last year rid me of all cellulite and back problems (for that time….)
I haven’t got a pair or wore these but ultra Virgoan gym friend has a pair of 5 fingers, of course! She bought em last month and swears by them for value for money and better than trainers and you don’t wear socks.
She wears them to her gym workouts 5-6 mornings per week.
She’s been ranting about how great these shoes are for training your feet to better support you and you can run, cycle, walk, eveything in these.
But she says no good for climbining up ropes in training sessions.
Pisces no no no… way too alien looking… maybe aquarian
Not this Aquarian. Hate the fit, too tight across the instep, no arch support, smothery and sweaty.
Guys please can you help your compatriots who can’t see this site because they are with Three/Vodafone…
All you need to is go to here https://twitter.com/#!/3mobile_help and tweet to ask that they update their DNS servers so that you can see http://www.mysticmedusa,com as every other ISP but Three shows it.
Power to the Astro Peeps
hey i think they may have fixed it
My Taurus sun and moon say that they are incredibly ugly. However, stellium in Pisces thinks that they look REALLY comfy…The Pisces will prolly win out due to the desire to walk around barefoot at all times.
I want something that works like these but I can wear to work (professional setting, so black loafers or something). Def couldn’t have separate toes though because of appearance and the need to wear dress socks/hose and if I’m not mistaken not a lot of indiv toe dress socks on the market these days. If anyone knows of minimal/primal work shoes out there please let me know!!!
U could always go to work at google – they all wear them or the Masai barefoot trainers and they have standing desks or the Swiss balls as “chairs” – the Zap Zone is here, structural integrity and all – i’m looking for a B12/caffiene/DHEA injectible next
Mystic, absolute best b12 supplement hands down is the Healthy Habits B-12 patch- it goes straight into your bloodstream
i was looking at these online last night. i have flat feet and want to be able to jog, but always get foot pain. have tried inserts, orthotics, gait analysis video etc, and feet stll hurt when i run. tempted to give a pair of these a go…
anyone with flat feet use these?
i have not got flat feet BUT if you into athletes foot they are cool with it, they won’t let you buy the shoes if they’re not right for you…You could also google flat feet -vibrams and i think there is also some material on their site re it.
i think these shoes are game changers – when i walk now i feel like a young panther. I was walking behind a woman in classic black leather court shoes today and i could see how tormented her gait was. Like a bonsai walking. Meanwhile there’s me padding along, i don’t give a fuq how weird they look.
“like a bonsai walking” hahaha… I see so many girls tottering about in shoes that aren’t comfortable. I don’t get it…
thanks for the suggestion. will try some on at athlete’s foot!
Like a Bonsai walking!!!!!!! Really, I love this site, I’d NEVER seen shoes like this before . And the Gorilla Feet mentioned above, I’m laughing my head of.
But I believe you Mystic. as a colleague Pisces….
When I go & dance an all nighter Techno or Drum & Bass, you’ll see me on these 15 years old Old Skool Adidas
Never ever do I wear high heals when I go dancing.
But Meowmix, I have a great tip for you against flat feet.
)
There are these Yoga and Chi Kung exercises for the contractor muscles. I don’t know the proper terminology for all these muscles, but they work together. Google a bit.
Pelvic floor exercises et cetera.
When you do these, you automatically do your feet. (or the other way around of course
This way I got the arch back in my feet and went down one shoe size (!!) again.
Cool! Will Google. Thanks for the hot tips
Also these shoes actually help you get the arch back in your foot! As does just walking barefoot naturally, but it takes time to build up the muscles.
The gait of a man is the fate of a man ~~~ someone awesomely famous once said
Anything on the feet or the shoulders will influence your core engagement because , like trees , we are rooted to earth and reaching for the heavens.
Lighten your load ( bag over shoulder ) and strengthen your pins from the ground up and your core is pumping all by itself !!!
Foot coffins. Like a bonsai walking. Mystic, you’re hilarious and straight up!
I’m certain the problem re ‘looking good’ could easily be fixed by some clever placing of fabric. I agree the toe thing is weird but so totally fixable!! If the benfits to overall health are everything people are saying they can be, surely a clever designer at Vibram can fix this minor problem of aesthetics
Vibrams changed my life. Gravity, schmavity!
Yep, the Hot Scorp Geek Trainer is half in/out with them as I recall. But interesting I was just reading an article about Vibrams being so badly counterfeited, the CEO had a real issue – customers started trying to return faux Vibrams which used the same colors, and sold in boxes that mimicked Vibram colors and logos.
Apparently, it was a mad battle involving US Customs, lawyers, expanding from 1 to 6 factories and offering the counterfeited customers a 50% discount. In fact, their customers have become such a huge part of standing up for the real Vibrams that they went on to double sales to $100 million. They even ran ads with the middle toe extended with a direct message to those infringing their patent and trademark.
I don’t think I can wear these, but fascinating back story.
ahahahhahahaa WHYY dont we hear about these types of things on the news?! middle toe up…reminds me of my childhood- fred flinston ‘i’m crossing my toes for ya!’
Probably because they tried to dampen down the story while they were dealing with the issue. This appeared on INC magazine which is focused on growing companies, and it’s become a great case study of what to do in the face of mass counterfeiting.
I mean, it’s happened here too, I think once Mystic even had some odious person lifting her words off and passing it off on their site, don’t quote me. Disgusting thievery. It’s great to hear Vibrams found a solution to this and a very positive one it seems.
Pisces on my 5 th house…..I must have these….mercury in Virgo….I must walk efficiently!!!!!
I looooooooove ugly shoes
I’ve been craving these for a year….I will buy now!!!!!!!!
Do they come in cream?
Fck you blackberry and your piece of shit mobile browser!!! I had the best comment, not too gushing, not too bitchy, a bit of humour, and still managed to voice my honest opinion… Til the bastard crashed on me. FFS!!!!!
argh, dontcha’ hate that!!
it seriously happens half the time I use the browser… most annoying when I have just proof-read a carefully constructed comment and them ka-boom “Your blackberry browser as closed unexpectedly [O I SEE, 'closed unexpectedly' IS THE EUPHEMISM FOR 'CRASHED' THESE DAYS IS IT]. Do you want to reopen the pages that you had open?” NO I DON’T BECAUSE I JUST LOST SOME TEXT THAT I SPENT 5 MINUTES WRITING WHEN I COULD HAVE BEEN DOING SOMETHING MORE USEFUL WITH MY TIME IF I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO ERASE EVERYTHING ANYWAY!!! aaahhhhhhhhhghhhhh grrr
ok, feel a bit better now.
hope it remedies itself soon. I don’t work for i”phone in anyway to warrant a kick-back but I’ve never had that problem on my trusty I:phone. Plus I have 1600+ photos on it and the apps to do fun stuff with images and to type/text I’ve always found it great value and reliable, never logged me out, user friendly. in my experience.
BUT I will say, lolol @Mystic – I saw what you did, ‘mystic crystal revelations’ from Hair, non??
