How Do I Know If I Am Leo Rising?

Leo rising has been great for my self esteem. I’ve always felt it was my destiny to be a leader/regal in a suburban kind of way, even in the face of crazy people trying to convince me otherwise. But when an older relative suggested that I was born 10 mins earlier than I had previously thought, I realised I could be Cancer Rising. Naturally I was devastated. No way am I pathetic, wimpy, sentimental, homey…(but maybe I am, and just in denial?). That was a year ago, and I am still trying to convince myself that I am truly Leo rising. Mystic, are there any other tricks to distinguish the rising Leos from the….gulp…alternative??

Well the quick way to tell if you are Lion or Crab rising is that Leo Rising peeps resemble cats. Are you feline? Compulsively groomed? Get off on catnip? Crab Rising = excellent boobs or pectorals if you are male. And you would be more receptive than the classic Leo Rising, which is more of a “performance” aesthetic.
Also, Leo Rising loves to party & would be completely thrilled to receive an invite for a formal occasion requiring a new outfit. Whereas Crab Rising could crack up on the spot. If you ARE Crab Rising, take heart – this is brilliant and it means you currently have Pluto in your House of Love – BIG relationship time, like a soulmating vibe. AND, well, you could find something else in your chart to get that natural nobility-leadership vibe. A strong Mars, for example.

) and the sign bestowed to take here the blame is the very sign that makes Leo – who Leo is. Without that Cancerian “uh-oh” you wouldnt have the basis for the Leonic absolute assurance, nor would you have gained enough skill to display the flare, you wouldnt eaven know what your talents are .. cose in Cancer is where you take on the hard work – work it trough – and find your solid piece of ground on which to stay tall so proudly.

They both excell with hand gesticulation .. but the mimicking temperament is diametrically opposite, water vs. fire .. water has a ‘confidential style’ bringing others closer in-our-space, fire blows up creating ‘more space’ for the expression of the self.
Leo’s smile alot and are very loud .. you can note them just on that account .. while Crabby’s tend to talk more with their ‘eyes’ i guess ? Either way, is hard to be unsure on which you are :/ ..

i have gianormous hair, very leonine supposedly as because of it they always take me 4 a Leo .. and i’m an Aqua Sun/Libra rising, but my Venus is in 5th, does that count ? o.O ~
I wrote on here last week about this exact thing; that my mother recently disputed my birth time by 5 minutes which now renders me Kataka rising instead of Leo (though I am sure she is wrong). However, I am none the wiser from your description MM as I am blessed with a mane of red hair AND a pair of impressive boobs. I am quite cat like but also a homebody. Whilst I love to dress and enjoy a good party, I shirk away from being the centre of attention – the thought of which actually makes me want to throw up. I haven’t identified with anything written about Kataka so far, so read both signs, and think I’m still in denial. The jury is still out on that one, but I am losing my identity faster than Neptune has roared into Pisces (my 12th house) and turned my life into a boundary-less blur.

The throwing up reflex could well be a very strong Crabby signal, but not as much if you happen to have major markers in the 12th, Mars afflictions or an overpowering Moon scenario perhaps .. ~
I’m Leo rising, but am not loud. I think I’m vivacous, lively, love going out, parties…but am not the centre of attention, nor do I wish to be, as it makes me feel really self-coscious and somewhat insecure. My moon is in Leo too, but in the 12th house, so I think that makes me a somewhat less apparent Leo rising. Having Mars in Leo (as well as Venus) may make me appear confident, perhaps even intimidating at times, but I’m a real softie, and very warm, both literally and figuratively.
Oh, and my hair…Had long hair, short hair, but never inbetween…I like it styled in a messy way, not neat and coiffed. Love, absolutely love any kind of hair that makes a statement about the person, the length is irrelevant.
Of course, it needs to suit them, and be looked after.
I am also a Leo Rising with long hair (I, too, have never had it in-between). I love the best in EVERYTHING men, clothes, food, home, career, and entertainment. I am rarely ever loud except when someone wounds my pride and forces me to roar. I don’t keep grudges, they are petty; and I love with great enthusiasm and enjoy life fully. My hair definitely my ‘crowning glory’ and gets more attention from others than from me, my posture is upright, and I have been told that I gesticulate like a cat. Though I may be accused of being self-centered at times, its simply because I believe in my abilities and have very high expectations for myself (and I am not afraid to work towards their accomplishment!), I would die from discontent if I lived my life as a drone. I like to stand out and be uniquely regal; and believe me I don’t just ‘talk the talk’, I confidently also am able to ‘walk the walk, too’. La dulce vita!
Gawd, talking about Neptune in 12th, boundary-less blurs, and Leos, check out chart of Leo (Sun) and Pisces Asc Whitney Houston. Transiting Neptune in last few degrees of 12, just short of ascendant, and natal chiron, both (ie transiting neptune natal/transiting chiron and asc) closely opposed by Natal uranus in virgo and natal pluto in 6th. Transiting uranus and transiting pluto square, and oppose, respectively, her NN in Cancer.
Having just gone through Leo Full Moon that broadly conjuncted her Sun/Venus and opposed her natal Saturn in Aqua, she dies when moon in Libra, hours after it conjuncts her natal Libra mars and pretty much as it is exactly opposing her natal Aries Moon/Jupiter. She has Neptune in Scorpio 8th (death by drugs/water), currently opposed by Jupiter in Toro (which is also squaring her natal Sun/Venus in leo and Saturn in Aqua), and by the time most of her peers were piling on the tributes at the grammies, transiting Moon is in Scorpio. Oh, and her MC is in Sagg, just past where NN is now. Bet her record sales have absolutely maxxed out by the time transiting NN hits her natal MC at 18 degrees.

Such a magnificent voice, so effortless in the pre-drug days, that most of us who love to sing would absolutely sell our souls for. Thanks, I could do with an astro lesson, I find it tres complex to properly understand. All I can offer is: Mars in Virgo in 3rd, Sun in Aries (Midheaven), Moon in Gemini (in XI). Nothing in 12th, tons in 10th. Sun conjuncts Mercury and Venus.
Hmmm, with such a combustible Sun/Moon combo, you should be a sizling bomb with Leo rising .. :/ I cant make any solid assumptions as i havent seen you, but baby chances are you could be well Cancer AC .. Can you list the aspects to your Moon, any contacts with Saturn in particular ?

I had this similar “astrological fugue” so to speak when they same out with the new signs and introduced the one that starts with an O where all of a sudden I was being told I am a Virgo rather than a Libra. The only Virgo traits I really have is organization at work and compulsive office supply buying so I rejected it pretty much outright. Then they came out with that this only applied to people born after a year I was born before and that was a huge sigh of relief.
Maybe you’ll lead by mothering and nurturing, hold the spotlight in areas where your maternal side comes out, or shine through organizing dinner parties with comfort food.
After reading your letter, I have no doubts of your Leo rising, none at all.

This cracked me up – I am a Leo Rising and i totally have the mad mophead with a life of its own….I seem to have permanent bedhead, wavy blonde hair that will not be tamed and always looks messy – similar to the photo actually! At one point my mom was unsure when I was born so didn’t know if I was Gemini or Crab rising. But I have tons of planets in Crab and yet people’s first guess for my sign was (still is) Gemini. Not to mention how I feel during a Mercury retro – Virgo sun and Gemini rising, ouch! I am so scared of the one to come now.
No, nope, am Leo rising, but there is nothing that says Leo (rising) in me. Yeah, a Leo i knew only chose friends who would fawn over her and only gave if it placed her in the spotlight. I naively tried to have a friendship of equals with her and it wasn’t her style. Kind of hurtful for me. Also she interrupted while other people spoke. I found Low Leo left a bad taste in my mouth, metaphorically speaking.
I used to think I was Leo rising. Then discovered I was actually cancer rising. Which explained alot. For instance, why Im always told that “you remind me of someone” (the girl next door thing), why theres so many pictures of me where you can see the whites under my iris (why do cancer’s do that?) and my music collection (I prefer to think of them as “classics”.)
What you have to remember though, is that depending on the degree of cancer rising, you may, like me, have a solidly Leonine first house. Cue deep seated hair fetish and occasional break-out lapse into gilt eye-shadow. I may not live my life on a stage, preferring to potter around in my house, but I dont require much persuading if theres the rare, occasional chance to, for instance, put on fishnets and parade around dressed like a zombie-hooker for a burlesque revue.
Deep down, though, crab rising makes more sense.

If I were born 10 minutes earlier I would have been a Cancer Rising, and I wish that I was as I would prefer the boobs, vintageness, homey etc etc. I think this is because I am a Saturn Rising which means I have very poor self-esteem and no ego (although I grew up wishing I was a long lost Russian princess), and the thought of being in the spotlight scares the sh*t out of me.
It also means though that people do not see my Piscean watery emotional sensitivity, and assume that I am a wild, loud, party girl, when I am anything but. I may ‘do’ those things but they aren’t who I ‘am’.
Oh but I have done the fishnets zombie hooker, burlesque revue look in my time! lol
I am a proud crab rising and I am in now way pathetic, wimpy, sentimental, homey, clingy, needy nor do I have big boobs. Infact I am quite the opposite! And I love a good party especially if it means a new outfit.

I’m a Pisces and also was under the illusion that I was a Leo rising until recently.. I always tend to end up in leadership or management roles without even trying. I just seem to organically float upstream and then stay with the tenacity of a crab
I don’t know that one is necessarily better than the other, but I’m probably biased since I’m a Cancer Rising, as is my husband and best friend. My husband also has a stellium in Leo (Sun/Moon/Merc) and a Cancer Venus and is hilariously entertaining as we hibernate at home, while he does all the cooking.
My other good friend is a Leo Rising with Cancer moon & Mercury and she sure does love a good party (I’m always the one ready to leave the bar early when we go out), and I thank goodness for that Cancer mixed in otherwise I’m sure there would be no real depth to our friendship whatsoever.
Pathetic, wimpy, and sentimental? If you have that attitude about us then you can keep your Leo Rising because we don’t want to claim your narrow ass.
ANYWAYS……I did have a similar issue about 10 years ago because my mother disputed what hour I was actually born. I could’ve been either a Cap Rising or an Aqua. Though now 5:30pm is the correct time….that she’s adamant about. That makes me a 22nd degree Cap Asc. Sometimes I still dispute it because I do not dress like a typical Cap Rising (I’m more eclectic and like way too colors). But then I have to remember my Venus is in Gemini in the 5th, and my chart ruler is hidden in Sag in the 12th. I still have the goat’s nose and my outlook can be quite cynical which is saturnine. I’m not really that ambitious though…..I have zero desire to be at the top.
Leos can, and should be, extremely creative.
The ones that aren’t are the ones I have had a tough time with. They have ended up channeling that energy into low snobby, superiority complexes where they know everything and you don’t.
Why do people not like Crab rising?

I’ve friend who Is Pisces Sun with Leo Rising and she has long but length beautiful hair and is vivacious. She does not like being the center of attention unless she is performing. She does have Saturn on her ASC so i’m sure that mutes how the Leo will display.

Seems sad that people have to judge others by rising signs etc. Everyone I mean everyone has good and bad points about them, me – I prefer to focus on the good points. If someone is going to base their friendships and partnerships purely on what sign or rising sign some one is they are going to miss out on a lot of wonderful people and wind up being very, I stress, very lonely. Most people I hang out with I am not meant to get a long with. Perhaps it says more about you if you can’t get on with a particular sign (or rising sign) than that sign?

Leo rising absolutely loves to use clothing as a way of showing off, for drama and talking point. Two of my best girlfriends have it there and both are the same.

aw im sorry, I was just being whiny, it just occurred to me what with other rising signs imbue a standout body area, or colorful flavor, virgo is like the epitome of not standing out or being colorful. 10 minutes does not make one change rising signs, imo, unless you’re already close to a cusp, and in that case, anything 5d at the beginning or end to the next zodiac sign already may take on some characteristics of the next sign.
Physical indicators aside, Cancer, Leo, Virgo all have many things in common.
EG 1: Their archetype symbolises they are all protective/caring/mothering/service bound and they go at it in diff ways (cardinal/fixed/mutable) + they apply it in diff ways (water/fire/earthy).4th/5th/6th houses.
EG 2: A lot of Virgo’s/mercurial types and Cancerians are in the Leo world of the arts, imo, because of the beautiful artistic sensebilities they create, merge and sustain, + see the houses they rule.
- Leo’s usually jump around from performing to directing,
- Virgo’s performing and exec producing a show / episode/ film as well as a hand in writing it,
- Cancerian’s like everything art world as long as they get to dress-up.
For anyone reading this, my own personal thoughts are look to your Dsc sign and the signs around it, for me this is also an indicator of the rising sign that you’re taking on at a particular point in time or throughout your life.
I am a blending Asc case study if ever this was/is one.

I don’t know, I think your email seems too insensitive and up-one’s-own-ass to be a Cancer rising. I’m a Leo sun and it strikes me strange, but in my personal (this being the key word!) experience, there is something so off-putting about Leo ascendants.
Except for one female Taurus I know, who is very down to earth and diplomatic. She doesn’t get carried away with her Leo ascendant like I’ve seen others do…
As a Leo you aren’t meant to get along with Leo Rising anyway, Aqua on the descendent off putting…
Is that it? I have an Aqua moon and do love my Aqua suns. I think it has a lot to do with my Scorpio ascendant not liking all the showing off and whatnot.
You can use the pendulum to get an accurate time, I have done for myself and other friends who have checked later with a parent and been correct to the minute. My astrology teacher considered my time to be correct, my mother passed when I was young so had no confirmation. Have a necklace that is easy to hold, hold in one hand and the other hand under the pendulum. Ask for a positive direction, ask a few questions to get sure and then break down the times. Only thing is to be totally focused on the question and not have thoughts going everywhere. Goodluck.
