Strange Gods That Come & Go

Deedee Cheriel

“…This is what I believe: That I am I. That my soul is a dark forest. That my known self will never be more than a little clearing in the forest. That gods, strange gods, come forth from the forest into the clearing of my known self, and then go back. That I must have the courage to let them come and go. That I will never let mankind put anything over me, but that I will try always to recognize and submit to the gods in me and the gods in other men and women. There is my creed….”

D.H. Lawrence

Via Phantasmaphile

D.H Lawrence – Mercury, North Node + Sun in Virgo conjunct Jupiter, this DOES seem like Haute Jupiter, don’t you think?

He was also Scorpio Rising and with Moon-Venus in Libra.   He loved his astrology.

  1. That’s glorious! I venture into the forest armed with my rocks and crystals, wading through mud, crossing spans of time and dimensional veils.
I arrive at a new place within the forest mine and then I’m in the clearing – strangely no matter how I travel, it’s always the same clearing – and meet demons and high priestesses and sailors and aliens… They are none of them me and yet it seems I am the sum of all their ineractions.

D.H. makes Sun conj Jupiter feel very fine and not at all like… was it Kanye? :)
It’s nice when we get people with similar aspects or signatures etc and they show us different ways of handling the influences of the planets.

  2. lovely…
I too have visited my clearing and had divine visitations.
High vibrational Jupiter, yes, but when reading this I FELT his 12th house moon. I have this too.
He also has venus in 12th(as do I). ….Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

  3. Made me immediately think of Lady Chatterly’s Lover; a book I first read when I was about 13. Stole it from my Virgo mother’s bookshelf ;)

  4. If One desires Love, Beauty, Truth and Freedom to express And see it in all people and all things . It becomes our revelation!!!! Grand Mystic Thanks Again!!!!! Om Chanti!!!

    • There really is no known-versus-unknown self. There is self. Reality isn’t opinionated. Although, I suppose it can be poetic to play with the veil. I just don’t sense that he got it’s a veil.

      • I think of it as parts of self I may not have had an awareness of, or that I’ve denied existed. Confronting sometimes.

Once had a vision during sex with my husband that we were silhouetted against the blackness of the Universe, but all the stars were within our joined shape.

Definitely believe that Source/whatever is internal rather than external.

      • I’m not sure what “it is” means. Are you saying reality is opinionated? If so, try holding your breath and see how long you can last. Reality dictates we need oxygen to survive. That’s not my opinion. The obvious facts of life are so overlooked and so full of wisdom and beauty when taken at face-value alone. The idea that reality is an opinion is a – sometimes romantic – lie. The so-called “known self” is opinion.

        • Was replying to your previous post about universe being inside us. We all have access to Source energy but dogma has made us wrongly believe we cannot access it.

    • Me too! Loved “Sons and Lovers” – contains some of the best insights into marriage and love I have read. I think that Lawrence is not a “nice” read but it is an authentic one.

  5. Sun and Mercury in Virgo. Same here.
    Scorpio Rising. Same here.
    Moon-Venus in Libra. Same here.
Public reputation as a pornographer who had wasted his considerable talents.
    ?

  6. Had to study Sons and Lovers at school, apparently he rewrote it 4 times and it was autobiographical. As a teenager I found it all a bit sad.

  7. Looove that quote !! so much of our lives is mystery, dark forest…
& seeing all interactions as interactions with gods / goddesses a way to elevate, equate the mundane to the divine ???

Bless him for a virgoan ability to express some clarity about the deeps of a scorp view

  8. love it! love the picture of the person with the deer head too – the deer is my own personal strange god which came to me in a dream once.

  9. Deedee’s work reminds me of Claire Rojas, alot. Kind of hits a nerve in me. I know artists are influenced quite a bit by each other, it is quite easy to click a mouse and discover new sources of inspiration. But why don’t they say that? There are a lot of artists who art obviously inspired by their peers, but site “their travels” or more vague but hip sources. I don’t know why it’s important to me. Guess I have a lot to think about…
