Which Sign Would Love The Stone House?

This is the renowned (in some circles) Stone House in Portugal.

Inspired by The Flintstones  & built between two gigantic (sacred?) rocks that were already sitting on the mountain, it is apparently ultra luxurious inside, despired the remote location and all.

I’m not so sure about it, luxe or not.

Feng-Shui-wise, that is a fuq of a lot of “Earth” and it looks like it is squeezing the house together, like it is in a vice.

FYI: They say that in Feng Shui (and acupuncture, as Feng Shui IS just acupuncture in space) that you need a harmonious balance of the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.  Stone = Earth.

But if those massive rocks are like sacred Geomancy conductors at the apex of ley lines, this could be quite spesh.

WHY do so many scribes discount magic in their reportage?

Other than that, i think if i lived here it would awaken cheesy Celt fantasies. I wouldn’t want to be in there pretending to make paella and talking about whether or not the I.M.F. is any better at predicting the economy than weather bureaus are at seasons.

I’d want Aragorn or someone to be galloping in.

And you?

  1. The Virgo ex would like this abode – to visit, or look at.

He’d see it far in the hills and refuse.

Why? cause it looks like a growth.

Virgo ex had phobia’s to eyes on potatoes (turn and scream for help), barnacles on whales. Total decay / rot / growth features.

  2. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place… It’s giving me claustrophobic chest pains just looking at it. “did you feel the earth move darling, yes dear, RUN!!!!”

  3. i might think i was some kind of albatross and start laying eggs in a place like that…. however would be happy to give it a go, so how i sleep, and walla, possibly wonderful with that much earth around this airy watery self…

  4. Agree … claustrophobic … and with all that space around.

And can’t see the point of a stone mountain hideaway if it attracts thousands of tourists a year.

  5. I kind of love it, deffo taps into all my wild woman fantasies. In reality though it’s very wonky and un-symmetrical and that would upset all my Libra too much. Plus I live in a house made from granite blocks 4 foot thick and it’s a nightmare. If I could I’d go for wood, much warmer and far more soothing for living.

  6. I love it! But as my holiday house in Portugal, not as my daily residence.

Very cute post Mystic, funny! A little Aragorn never goes astray I reckon.

  7. I’m a kataka and I wouldn’t go near it… one shouldn’t mess with (or build one’s house on top of) sacred places. They can be enjoyed without fucking with, and are meant to be visited at times- not lived on. plus the claustro vibe. I’m all for nook/ womblike little houses but this one isn’t it…

  8. Two words for you: rock squirrels.

I wouldn’t want to get victimized daily. It’s bad enough with a day at a crag guarding your snacks with a stick.

      • =) It’s so true. People want to live on mountains and rocks but they don’t realize the rocks are not some sterile place without life. Whole ecosystems complete with lichen that break down rocks, birds that live in holes in the rocks ,centipedes, and you name it live in and on the rock too.

And can you imagine the d00shbags waking you up at 5 am to go climb on your rocks as a sport?

  9. I’m a Libran and love rocks, crystals, any stones, you name it, they natter to me. But that it awful, disrespectful of the two stones either side, no wonder they’d like to crush the house between them. And query? If these were sacred stones, did the builder of the house ask these stones if they want a house shoved between them? Ego, ego, ego.

  10. If I was going to build a house incorporating those massive boulders I wouldn’t want it to look like a cottage that accidentally got squished in the middle. Why not go all the way and have something like giant rounded river stone wedged in the pile – or maybe even perched on top.
I’d give living in it a go – would love to touch those rocks – imagine basking on them like a lizard for a moment at least. I think it’s easy to call all “big stuff” in nature sacred – it’s just the wonder of it’s size, how it got there, how old it is etc. I have a bit of a thing about trying to wrap my arms around enormous trees and rocks – something about how solid/warm/cool they feel as well as their size. Wonder if they store heat and warm the house?
cap sun, aqua rising. pisces moon

  11. If it were 15 mins from a convenience store I would so live there.
Failing that, I’d make it my writing / composing retreat. Pop off to the rock cottage to whip up a novella or sonata or two.
    Completely love love love it.
Capricorn, of course. A Tolkien Dream.

  12. Aargon and Legoles… please!!

But id leave the house with the memory.. tooo grounded and fierce wonderings in the walls….intense!!!

  13. I like it but how the hell do they heat it? And I’d like wider windows for the views, please, and maybe some skylights. Cool if you’re a rock climber. And they’ve saved scads on building materials, wall coverings etc.

Maybe I could find a caveman to share it with.

  14. I have to say, I love it because of Celtic fantasies….MM you always ‘get’ it. Stone circles, sacred stones, sacred wells, a vast uninhabited heath (a la Thomas Hardy and Emily Bronte), etc – I’m there.

I am Sagg Sun, Cap moon, Aqua rising and have Celtic heritage and have walked miles through Celtic country to encounter neolithic sacred sites.

But seriously, many property developers could learn from this – build with respect of the natural landscape and the culturally sacred, people!

    Gorgeous picture MM. Thank you.

      • At the risk of letting my Virgo rising off the leash here – its straw bales, not hay bales. Hay is for feeding cattle – its summer grasses left to dry; whereas straw is the stalk left after cutting down wheat, corn, barley, oats etc

*stuffs Inner Virgo back into box*

….and yes, I have smelt both – I used to do a lot of riding when I was younger :D

Don’t you like the smell ?

  15. “Other than that, i think if i lived here it would awaken cheesy Celt fantasies. I wouldn’t want to be in there pretending to make paella and talking about whether or not the I.M.F. is any better at predicting the economy than weather bureaus are at seasons.”

*wipes away tears of laughter* MM, I’m pretty certain you’re a genius – that’s the best thing I’ve read all day!

No way would I live there, even if Viggo Mortensen would come striding in after a long day of orc slaying. I do love solitude, but more of the Bjork’s plutonic house. This house looks as if all the air is being squeezed out of it and all that Earth in combination with my uber-watery chart would be the perfect breeding ground for Lo-Pisces to come slinking out, absinthe in hand.

  16. That is one odd house! Wow. I would have to agree with you on the feng shui no-no aspect of it. Yikes. Maybe you might get kidney stones, huh?

  17. Ahhhh… Interesting…. there seems to be a thread of thought that this is a photoshop…

but no, here is a youTube, including shots of the inside:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAh_HV0APUk&feature=related

Its HORRIBLE. Sooo gloomy and grim….

Here are some more photos of rock-squashed houses:

No, I need a nice warm stable with large windows…

    *gallops off*

  18. I would say aqua sun with cap moon or venus….. because it’s weird for te aqua and has an old slow earthy feeling, which would ground the aqua and provide security for the cap!

  19. I looked at it and immediately thought… a hobbit.. that’s who…!!

Then I read what you wrote MM and you mention Aragorn.. and if he would actually come riding up to stay for a while then I think indeed I might love it also!!

  20. I LOVE IT
I am now planning a trip to spain just to see it. I have Taurus rising but am an Aries, and Crab moon. hmmm I mostly have piscean everything and saturn in virgo. not sure if this can be put down to astro, or an extreme love of architecture, stone age everything and LOTR.

speaking of weird architectures I love this tree house hotel in sweden. something for everyone there, except extreme ground hugging taureans.

and what about Alain De Botton’s new venture for architecture of happiness where you can stay in deluxe gorge architecturally designed weekend cottages for a reasonable (for some) sum? Dd you blog about this mystic? sorry if so wires crossed like crazy.
