Strange Attractors

This is my friend Kim Falconer’s latest book, due out TOMORROW!  I cannot wait to read it & this is not just hyper-gush. The most satisfying thing about Kim’s book (which remind me of Ursula Le Guin & Madeleine L’Engle, maybe a bit Tanith Lee or a feminist Wiccan Tolkien) is that the magic in it is all real.

The spells work. The astrology is accurate. The magical thinking instruction is actually inspirational. It all makes complete sense. Because if you know even a bit about the Occult, it’s infuriating to read something like “the Moon was retrograde that night”.  The science is for real.  Even though there is always a tight plot (I am, I admit it, a natural contender for anything blending sex, magic & time travel conundrums) it is also like reading a manual.

You can buy it online here or have a crack at winning Kimmy’s whole Quantum Enchantment series here.

    YES!
have been reading Traci Harding’s ‘The Isis Gene’ whilst waiting on
‘Strange Attractors’ to stay inspired, because that’s exactly what Kim’s last 2
(read back to back over Xmas & NY) did for me. INSPIRE.
Strangely came me a sense of belonging as it covers most if not all that i am
    enamoured by.
Have read much science fiction fantasy over the decades & find The Quantum Enchantment
series way up there with the best of that genre. Truly ‘Wholistic’ Thinking.
As an animal adorer, her knowledge of animal behaviour, especially with horses (me more of
a dog & kid whisperer) exceptional.

The downside: am using reading & eating chocolate a distraction technique to avoid returning
to my work, as would rather at mo, READ, about dimensional adventures, than be in the action.
Tis an educational book as well to all young intuitives plus completely non age specific.
Would make fab movie as lots of dialogue & scenery changes.

Every woman should have a Temple Cat to guide her :-)

OOO, and the Lupins tres sexy. That looks like The Chosen One on the cover, just how
    i imagined him to be.
And that would be Kreshkali with the manga-mix hair?

That’s Teg in Lupin form, and Jarrod, yes! Kreshakali and her familiars, the Three Sisters–all coming out of the portal above Temple Corsanon! :)

Book covers have changed, wow!! How much fun would it be to illustrate fantasy fiction novels with today’s technology?! Gotta get into digital art…

Can’t wait! I’m currently re-reading Books 1 and 2 in prep for reading Book 3, part of what I LOVE about good trilogies. Having such a good time visiting again with Rosette, Nell, Jarrod and the delicious Teg. Mmm…

Ooh, “Strange Attractors” looks like the sort of book that I’d really get into, but I’ve looked on Amazon and can’t find it listed. Is it only available in Australia? I’m in America, but will actually be moving to Sydney to study abroad from February through the end of June. I’ve been looking for something to take with me to read on the very long flight. I love historical fiction and fantasy; books like The Mists of Avalon, Memoirs of Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, Wicked (the book before the musical), and the Garnet Lacey series (about a wiccan girl who runs a new age book store and the adventures she has…finding love with an alchemical vampire, being possessed by the goddess Lilith, being on the run from Vatican witch hunters and protecting her friends from zombies). It’s a bit silly, but a fun read. Haven’t read too much that directly focuses on astrology. As mentioned, there is a lot of fluffy fantasy material out there and it’s difficult to find anything that’s genuine and well-researched.

Any suggestions for what to read on my flight over? :D

Thank you Mystic, and everyone! I’m thrilled to have the first 3 books released! :) (and busy writing more. . . )

Lauren, I’m sure others will have books to suggest for your flight but have you read Unholy Magic by Stacia Kane? It’s released in the USA now (book one) and will come out in Aus this winter through HarperVoyager. She’s a fabulous writer with a great story to tell!

Thanks for the recommendation Kim! I looked it up on Amazon, but they only have the second book in the series “Downside Ghosts” listed, and that doesn’t come out until this June. I found “Unholy Ghosts” listed on the Barnes & Noble website, but they say it’s not out until this May. There are also a few other Stacia Kane books listed: Personal Demons, Demon Possessed, and Demon Inside. I might be able to find these in the states before I leave. Has anyone read them or know if it’s a good series to start?

Heck, thats alot of demons Lauren…Perhaps a good exorcist recommendation while we’re at it? :) Sorry, never read the books tho.

I thought Unholy Magic was out! I’m emailing Stacia Kane right now to get the scoop. Have you read Tanith Lee? She’s a brilliant writer. I particularly liked Silver Metal Lover and Don’t Bite the Sun/Drinking Sapphire Wine. If you like Urban Fantasy, Faith Hunter has a great series, Jane Yellowrock! Witch and native American, shape-shifting and vampire elements–well written and tight plot.

On a different track, Margaret Atwood’s Blind Assassin is fabulous though not so obviously fantasy.
