Feng Shui In December

Eight_lgeLucy Deslandes – Energy Magic

Monthly Flying Stars 7th December – 4th January

Monthly energies can be a trigger that may lead to an increase in certain types of experiences. If you spend long periods of time in an area such as working, sleeping or your entrance is located in a particular sector have a look below and see if you experience any of the issues mentioned below.  If so you may want to try a remedy and see if that helps to harmonise things.

SOUTH EAST – Arguing more? Problems with contracts? Some bright red here can work well such as a red vase or lamp. Don’t go overboard as we don’t want to activate any of your homes challenging energies.

SOUTH – Can’t find the perfect partner? Give the South sector a good clearing out and make the area as beautiful as possible. If your entrance is here you may find an improvement in opportunities to make money this month.

SOUTH WEST – Getting parking fines or having issues with authorities? Then give this area a good clutter clear.

WEST – Have you or your finances been sick more than usual this year? If you’re bedroom or main entrance is in the west that could be your problem. Place a brass calabash here as it will help to absorb this particular sickness energy. Given the monthly energy you may find a bit of reprieve in December.

NORTH WEST – The challenging 5 monthly star flies into the North West for December which could signify problems with the head or kidneys especially if your bedroom is here so placing the sound of metal here works well. This could be metal bells on a door or metallic ornaments.

NORTH – The energy in the north is challenging this year and the monthly energy feeds this so be careful if sleeping in this area of obstacles and general challenges. The sound of metal works well or a brass pagoda can be placed here.

NORTH EAST – Theft may be an issue so ensure your doors and windows are secure in this area of the house and a splash of red will help harmonise this energy.

EAST – Think before you speak – communication may be a problem and this is enhanced this month. If you find you are experience any digestive problems place a brass calabash in this area for the month of December

From Feng Shui Genius Elizabeth Wiggins

Important Note: These are monthly Feng Shui energies & this is general Feng Shui advice, without – obviously – taking into account your unique living situation.  Ideally, one has one’s house’s base Feng Shui done first.

or whatever my number for something about what I’m here to do. I’m a 5 in terms of numerology. Oh hang on this is feng shui. I did Karen the colonic irrigation weirdo Kingston smudging/cleaning/decluttering running around the joint with Tibetan gongs and incense (the Toro father of child was suitably rivetted by the proceedings). But bugger all happened except my daughter was born and created more mess, dirt and clutter than her father. Although they were a close match as to whom was more grotty. So feng shui doesn’t impress me much.

AND we had happy plants and lucky frogs and flappy good luck thingos around our door and good energy flow and ALWAYS kept the toilet seat down … yet we were somehow always broke and the kidlet somehow managed to break into the toilet, crawl behind the lav, find the toilet duck with the supposed “child proof” cap and scull some of it – enough to make her puke for 24 hours and us freak out on the poison hotline and the hospital emergency room. So …. yuh. That’s why feng shui shits me off.

yes, got Feng Shui report from Elizabeth Wiggins. It’s still a work in progress and too early to tell. Been busy decluttering, moving things around etc. I have three vases of lucky bamboo around my apartment – ugly plants they are! I have salt water cures in various spots too and my mars in Virgo (or is it my venus in Libra) is freaking out – they look ugly too but at least i can get rid of them by Feb 4 2010.

I have yet to install my water feature to bring good luck for 2010. I’m going with 3 goldfish ’cause those fake rock waterfall ones have to plugged into a power source… yikes! waste of energy! Hmmm, my Cap rising is such a sceptic (how can putting six bronze coins in specified spots change anything?!) but i’ll vibe moon in Sagg optimism for a bit longer. I’m starting to think it’s more about the power of thought/suggestion.

I think most things in the end are about the power of thought/suggestion – astro included.

Hi prowlncat – Karen Kingston is a space clearer. She does however mention some feng shui in her book however she focuses more on ‘New age” feng shui which is very different to Traditional Feng Shui. That being said I personally like to complete space clearings – they help to re-focus your goals etc.

Plus in traditional feng shui we don’t recommend frogs, ducks etc – it’s more to do with the what the rooms are used for :)

        1. prowlncat’s avatar

Hi Liz … yeah I sorta get that Karen is a bit different. However I have tried other feng shui cures such as position of the bed in relation to what direction is auspicious for my kua number, putting red and goldy thingamibobs in “lucky” spots, goldfish – they all died, one … just sat around limp for days and I felt so sorry for it I googled “euthanasing goldfish” to which it was recommended to put it in a bowl of vodka in the freezer, supposedly some kind of happy way for a goldfish to pass onto the big pond in the sky. The thing lived for HOURS. God I was so freaked out about my bad fish karma. So no more fish. EVER. Being a designer I’m a natural declutter anyway and have a definite aesthetic regarding proportion, colour, spacing etc … and I love plants, even though I always manage to murder them. BUT … yeah for whatever reason feng shui doesn’t seem to resonate or like … do anything for me. Whereas astrology, tarot and wicca … well that’s another story entirely. Wiccan spell casting worked so well for me that I gave it up on account that I intuitively suspected I had no idea what I was messing with and just cause it worked, didn’t mean it was a good thing.

I’ve often wondered whether genetic inheritance, past life stuff or astrology indicates what one might be into on a spiritualistic level. For myself I am Greek/Irish … the Greeks where gypsies so paganism from waaaaaaay back.

Mystic have you got any astro stats on this? You’ve often said that astrology for example is very Uranian. What about feng shui?

I always operate more on the general principles of declutter, create space, make your home your own so there’s a good energy, put things around that you – not someone else – think are beautiful, and open all the windows / doors as much as poss to let the fresh air through you house and life.

Ie- I bloody hate most feng shui ornaments, like the ducks, etc, so they wouldn’t work for me even if technically they were supposed to.

A good smudging of your space is always awesome i find too.

This matches my approach better…I also find that relaxation music just pisses me off too…similarly feng shui ornaments irritate me too. One of those things where I respect other people’s right to enjoy, but leaves me cold.

Bloody good smudge and de-clutter, and sometimes the washing of walls with lavender scented water seems to do the trick. Also movement of air free flowing…

That being said I still find the idea of stale qi lingering in the corners a good motivator to house clean…more so than any adherence to my Virgoan Dad’s cleaning regime inflicted/heavily encouraged through disappointed looks throughout childhood.

      Reply

      1. spirit’s avatar

Definitely agree with you on the smudging ! …….a good remedy for stale Qi in corners (or so I`ve heard) is to put sea salt in little dishes in each corner of the room and leave for several days…..something about the crystalline structure of sea salt absorbs the bad vibes.

I had a bath the other day to cleanse the aura – used one pound of bi-carb and one pound of sea-salt, then lay in the sun for 10 mins. I felt…white… Like I had been at the beach for a month, just amazing.

Really intense – then I went to eat out in Heroin Town and nearly fell over at all the weird people and their vibes. Won’t do that combo again!

I agree re the diff strokes for diff folks angle on this. I am similar re the ornaments – I prefer to arrange my own things that are akin to the things they recommend. It’s not my culture and it doesn’t work for me to have those things in my space – aesthetically. I love the energy system and have used it to good effect in a business but have never gone back to it since then. Also my Uranus conjunct sun hates rules. Feng Shui has lots of rules. To hell with the rules. And pictures of dolphins make me gag. Enja and whale songs make me want to smash stuff. That would be bad feng shui. Jagged broken things. I love knowing about other cultures tho and this is def fascinating stuff. Anthropologically for me it works, decoratively/aesthetically it does not.

Hi Robot, Some people love the salt water cure – if you don’t like it then don’t use it. I find they work really well plus they are don’t cost alot to implement. Use metal instead such as metallic colours and metallic items.

Same with the bamboo – if you think they are ugly you can use flowers instead. It’s the wood and water element that is required.

It’s always sounded very intimidating, especially considering I cannot move furniture or keep my room clean while doing schoolwork, having a social life, getting exersize, cooking decent meals, having hobbies, AND taking care of myself fibro-wise. I can keep my room spotless during the summer, though! Does anyone know any websites with enough info to get me started somewhat? Or any helpful tips?

I like the feng shui principle of de-cluttering – works for me. (I wish it would work a bit better, I have a serious amount of de-cluttering to do. But sticking stuff in boxes & piling it away neatly works well.)
It stands to reason that if you want to attract lovers, a welcoming bedroom is a good idea, and as I’ve found out, if you can’t find your handcuffs/condoms/lube at the right moment in proceedings because they’re stuck in a box from moving house, it can sorta slow things down a little while you stomp around the room naked, muttering “where the hell is it?” while young man in question looks bemused and tells you to relax.

I don’t like tchotchkes & ornaments, so ducks, bells & whatnot are not my thing – it has to fit in with the severe minimalist aesthetic I am trying to create (not very successfully). But it does make you think about what you put & where.

Leaving the toilet seat cover down is practical in a mixed-gender household: avoids arguments, and stops clumsy one here dropping random bottles into the toilet bowl by mistake.

Question: is it good feng shui to leave your lover handcuffed to the bedhead? Or does one have to use the compass first? Will he be even more terrified? Is this a good thing?

Do handcuffs count as metal? >:D

I find these comments fabulous and I completely agree with having things in your home and space that YOU love and make you feel great. The thing with Traditional Feng Shui is analysing your environment and your relationship with it. Some buildings are more supportive than others so why not take advantage of this?

Your home is a reflection of you and is actually not about just keeping an area clean – it’s about using areas that support the energies.

Anyway have a visit of my website and you might find some handy tips!

I find FS quite singular and often harsh. When attached to birthdates and the like, its hard to make work with 5 people in the house. According to my birth date I should be sleeping at the opposite end of the bed to my wife, which could work for a couple of nights, cause her feet are quite nice, and it will protect us from evil south east demons ripping our lives to shreds etc. but I do prefer her face?

Hi David, you actually need to work out the birth chart of the house which will give you an indication of what the occupants may experience in the house. Doesn’t mean they will as it depends on several factors. For example you can have two people sleeping in the same energy but if they have completely different diets and lifestyles of course the outcome will be diffrerent.

Am so new to Feng Shui & only just worked out the points of the house. So much makes sense now!
Front door is west facing & have had ongoing illnesses since we moved to this house. I had to google what a calabash is, think I need one!.

South west is a fireplace in the living room & I keep the mantle piece neat but it is packed with books (about authority-crimes against humanity, law books etc) & also sits a budda next to some pics of my parents (deceased) & the aqua phd plaque next to some family pics of theirs. Luscious indoor plants on the floor. I think I need to sort this space out…. pronto!!

Bed head is west & room is clutter free.

I realised the north wall houses things like book shelves, t.v area & fridges & study area & laundry.
Oven is in the south, back door faces the south & garden is kept well.
Hallway is dark & have one spare room (main bedroom) that is the nightmare.

When the aqua & I moved in we slept in this room (bed head south) & within two weeks we broke up. We worked things out but we moved to the other room. Earlier this year I moved us back into the room to try it again & I have been ill ever since, moved back to the other room after 3 months. There is a problem with the ceiling, electricity meter also attached here too.

We have D.V neighbours directly across the road from our door, when we first moved in they were having a huge fight & it goes on same time every year (around about now) sometimes police are called.

Now that I have the house to myself I sometimes migrate through the bedrooms. I find it interesting BG the effect different rooms have had on your relationship.

Years ago I attended a day workshop where a part was devoted to Feng Shui, and the speaker related some stories about people and their stuff.

One was a bedroom where the people found it hard to sleep, and for some reason they had decorated with a circus theme…a couple of prints with acrobats and wallpaper trim….I could relate to why sleep was hard there all too easily. I mean surround yourself with chaos and that’s what you’re going to live.

Another was where a lady was sort of smugly proud of holding onto the marital bed after a divorce and wondering why she wasn’t getting some action now…

Oh and the other case she mentioned was where a woman had surrounded herself with pictures of solitary women…so she was advised to include a few couples or groups into the mix…I remember the thinking was that we associate quite strongly on a subliminal level with what we surround ourselves, and that surrounding herself with solitary women, was holding her in a pattern alone.

This sort of aspect of feng shui I can relate to.maybe I have my wires crossed but it’s the coin remedies that I have difficulty with…

Again maybe this is coloured by my approach to everything, because in all sorts of belief systems I pick and chose what resonates with me…while again respecting other people’s choices to pick different stuff.

Argghhhhh – does anyone have any advice for me please! Our house was built by a lovely old man who lived here till he was 93 – I could tell where he slept in the bedroom as there is only one way to put the bed really (and I felt like I had an old man sleeping on me). I smudged ‘n’ all, but, respect to the guy, it is his house afterall…

I moved the bed to a diagonal position in the south east corner, but it has the door leading on to it… Not enjoying the view of the kitchen sink much.

Now the only other place I can put it is head against the window (south facing, live in Melbs, so southern hem). Have been hemming and hawing about it. Is it so bad? I am out of options.

      Hi FireTrine,

No difference in the hemisphere’s as true feng shui uses a compass reading. The sun rises in the East and sets in the West no matter if you are in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. Best to have a solid wall behind you if possible – sleeping on an angle is not great.

If you do sleep under a window just make sure you have blinds or curtains otherwise the window can drain your energy and you wake up feeling tired.

Whilst not part of traditional feng shui maybe a professional space clearer is the way to go?

Thanks for replying Liz, I will be checking out your forum when admitted to it’s hallowed, no doubt beautifully aligned, virtual halls…

I always thought the southern/northern thing mattered, that’s interesting! I am really curious as we get our light from the north so I always thought that is the area we should get energy from instinctively… but would like know more about the compass method.

I have blinds and curtains and will get more info, but anything has to be better than sleeping on an angle… I had a Feng Shui book which suggested it which is why I did it.

Have a clairvoyant who basically said the space is as clear as lovely old man is prepared to admit currently. The house was unlived in for three years after he ‘moved on’ and it was bizarre how we ended up there – like he allowed it. I have a soft spot for him and don’t want him to feel pushed out. He has definitely passed and is no trouble, there is just years of vibes and attachment to the bedroom and kitchen bench area.

I appreciate you taking time to answer my question so thoughtfully!

Have never done Feng Shui but this thread joggd me to explore this morning as was up before the sun. When the sun ~was~ coming up, opened the blinds and saw that my bedroom window faces southeast. Can see the sunrise dead on and gives a wonderful spill of sunlight across my west wall/closet.

Have chimes on the blinds already.

Did the Kua also and being a 1, bed is facing East (good direction for health for a 1) and large green dragon sits atop headboard along with my pix of Buddah and Buddah statue. Used to have a fountain but need a better one.

Have a large red fan on the East wall that my sister got me in Thailand that has another dragon and cock. Liz’s site stated to not have more than five dragons in the home. My bedroom has four already if you count the bedding. Yes, a lair I guess ;)

One big hurdle is my corner desk. I need to turn it around so I can see the room and sunlight in the morning which would be beneficial to writing. Over holiday will see what I can work out.

Very much enjoyed your site this morning Liz and thank you Mystic! Do believe I’m giving this a go…x

In reference to the desk – try using a mirror. Seeing what is going on behind always gives you a sense of security.

A mirror would be the perfect antidote without having to disrupte my space. Thanks!

To the peeps who had a bad/neg experience with feng shui, just as there is sidereal astrology and regular…there are 2 main systems of feng shui too. Yin and yang types. The most common type is Yang. Try the yin system if the yang system didn’t work out for you. The yin system is supposedly what the older temples used and is supposed to be more in line with nature than the yang system.

Hi year if the fox, Yin feng shui is used for choosing auspicious site to place tombstone. Houses are Yang so best to use Yang Feng Shui from my experience.

Thanks for your professional insight Liz! My comment was directed more at those who think that feng shui doesn’t really work or is about collecting ducks, dragons, and mirrors. I think it’s quite powerful. I’ve used the Yang feng shui before when i lived in a previous place and it worked great then! Of course, that meant me moving because I couldn’t move the door but hey, problem solved. In my current abode, I used the same system and i still couldn’t get resolution possibly due to the fact half my walls are big windows and the room is across from the kitchen. I tried Yin feng shui and found a position for my bed that worked. Maybe it is beginner’s luck?

Who cares if it’s beginners luck – as long as it works for you! Your environment should support you so if things are going well – thats awesome. If it aint broken don’t fix it! :)
