The Effectus Lux Lucis – Which Sign?

productimage-picture-effectus-lux-lucis-921_jpg_499x1000_q85Effectus Lux Lucis by Victoria Grant

Victoria Grant is a Brit milliner whose creations are apparently adored by the likes of Penelope Cruz, Dita Von Teese & Annie Lennox. This thing is a hat but it may also be used as a light. It is about $4000 and it is inspired by the aesthetics of the British Royal Artillery and Medieval Execution Masks.

Clearly, the latter in particular makes it a Feng Shui NIGHTMARE. I don’t give a fuq whether it’s my hat or my bedside lamp. But seriously, WHO would wear this?  There must be a market for it. You don’t just stuff around making $4000 hats with Bird Of Paradise plumes (if those are real feathers let’s triple the Feng Shui nightmare quotient) if nobody wants them.

I  mean, one thinks fetish and one thinks Scorpio but somehow I think of Scorps as being more SLEEK than this. And isn’t Executioners mask a bit gruesome, even for our Scorp on a Goth bender?

Would Delia Antwerp Aaars covet this? I am going to give that woman her own category – whaddya reckon?

I reckon – and this will be controversial, i realise – that SAGGO would wear this, to a costume party.  They love horror movies & they’re just weird like that. The Saggo Kickboxer toured some “torture museum” in Prague recently and thought it “rad, cool, unreal, really interesting…”

the Saggo fashion designer who told the Foo fighters they couldn’t surf (they can’t) would wear this, if she hasn’t already!!

she’d reenact ‘The Secretary’ – with or without an audience!!

Ooh. I love ‘The Secretary”. Don’t you? I think its more about lurve than S&M. Love across the social divide. Exhale!

I like the Kaiser Wilhelm style fountain of feathers (but not from a rare bird). But I do not like the chain or the hat. So a vote no from this scorp.

I dunno about Saggo’s, the kinkiest people I ever met were all Gem, Scorp or Virgo. Is there a kinkiest sign porn star sign? I don’t know if Libran playboy bunnies counts as kinky. Are Capricorns ever really kinky or is that too gruesome to their sensibility?

This is a silly hat and not even a nice lamp. However I see that with the plume, one might look a little horse-like in it thus the Saggo coming to mind. I still think a low Gemini would find this enormously amusing. Not my style, even with Moon in Saggo however…

I agree with you, ..my ex husband would have bought this for his ‘art collection’ and then worn it ‘to liven up a boring dinner party’ When we divided the spoils, he HAD to keep ALL of these objects…thank god!!

um this won’t make me popular but I really like that the designer has taken inspiration from gruesome parts of British history and made something beautiful, roman invasion, medieval torture, execution, war. It’s a strong conceptual statement. and yes I would wear this as long as I had the appropriate do and some amazing studded stilettos to match.

RE s+m wear- I think it references kink though not is, its too arty to do anything than be a hat like it doesn’t prevent your breathing capacity nor enclose the face, a true fetishist in that regard would be pissed about that.

Sign wise I think sagg would or a very arty aries

Annie Lennox would wear this I think as well? she loves the masculine costumery element and her clips are very theatrical and symbolic.

I am a Sagg and when I just saw the pic and didn’t read the words yet, my immediate response was “I would totally wear that!” just because it’s so ridiculous.

The lamp is shocking [no pun on the lamp parts] and repulsively refined. Not a big seller according to the other comments. Yet no one thinks twice about hanging a poster of MahaKali on their wall over their bed. Or the Terminator. Those demons eat lamps such as this like candy. Sag Sun trine Scorpio Moon, Mercury prominent but perhaps a little retrograde, as if to Medival time. What an orbit!

Am a Saggo, Cap rising, Pisces moon. Would rock that hat so hard, possibly with prom dress for special occasions.
Would mostly just look at it and enjoy the oddness. Wear it around the house while doing chores and singing.
It is a perfect combination of grisly and silly. It really IS silly looking to me. And yes, I ADORE horror films.

Gemini. Just horrible. Cannot even consider trying to make anything to do with torture as some kind of highbrow fashion statement. I don’t think Delia would like it, it’s too dark. I don’t think a Scorp would wear it either, they’re more subtle and they would totally understand the pain and horribleness of it. Low Libra looking for attention or male Cancerian or a misguided Capricorn.

I have always considered Isabella Blow to be a style maverick, she wore some amazing hats by Philip Treacy, so I figure she’s have at least considered this one – she was a Scorpio……
I like it, the fact it does 2 things I appreciate. Hats are hell to store, cos I personally like to look at them if they’re going to be a statement piece!
I also like the idea of turning the horrors of the past into something beautiful and thought provoking. Not sure I’d wear it however….. still building up to being an avant guarde hat wearer…

I agree, Isabella would have gone for this. It also looks like something out of Kubrick’s ‘Eyes Wide Shut’. He was Leo with a Scorp moon.

Delia would totally wear this, but only because Annie Lennox and Dita Von Teese are into it.

If it was a hat I’d wear it… with matching boots and ballown… but it looks too much like a gimp mask to me… which I would NOT do. There is no ironic way of doing/wearing a gimp mask… even with moon in Scorpio and matching gloves and shoes.

I was in the British Royal horse artillery where the inspiration comes from it seems, but it took a bit to work it out. Its kinda cool, a kinky tribute to the soldiers!

The real thing is slightly theatrical to wear, not sure there would be much of a difference..

Yup, love it for dressups. Would team it with black & red skin tight bodysuit made of
    vinyl or spandex ;-)
Leave the Birds of Paradise feathers ON the birds for New Guineans only, who
love shakin’ a tail feather when triballing.
Would love it just for the photo’s or adult playtime.
HE would wear leather knickers & mask. That’s imagination not visualisation.

Off to eat Maggie Beer Quince & Bitter Almond icecream & champagne. Yes, even if it is
sparkling Pinot Noir (champagne methodoise not French), have URGE for both today.
Actually, HE, Butch, texted me to say he’s become a Grandfather (wanted to reply ‘care factor’
or give me reasons to care). This Sagg man will not let go, will not allow me to forget him, dammit!
His Venus is in Scorp, his Mars in Leo. My Venus in Cap & Mars in Virgo. Him Gemini Moon, me
Libran Moon………………..very different astro there. We both have Mercury in Sagg, explains the text only thingo.
Play games with who is the fastest to answer & reply.
    What a silly Sagg saga.

Ha, & voila, Lady GG in vinyl dress, maybe she coulda worn the lamp helmet.
