Astro-Marilyn

thinkingofyou-1

Does Marilyn Monroe ever go away?  She is my prime example of the enduring allure & mystique of Neptunians. As in, she had Neptune Rising in Leo.

And now, of course, she’s back again. This time in a home movie of her apparently smoking pot or whatever.

Neptune RULES film, glamour and the collective public consciousness. Peeps who have a prominent Neptune are v.good at tapping into that. It’s also an astro-indicator that you should lay off the hooch. There are addictive tendencies in there with the glamour & mystique. .

I have not thought of Monroe in ages but naturally i went through that teenage phase of being obsessed with her. I read all her biographies, from the reverential Gloria Steinem one to Norman Mailer’s “factoidal” work & all those things about scandals, Kennedies etc. It’s bimbonic but my knowledge of 60s politics and culture comes entirely from reading Marilyn bios.

If she had lived on, she would have been about to have her Uranus Return now!

She was Sun + Mercury in Gemini (wits!) with Neptune in Leo Rising – like i said, Moon-Jupiter in Aquarius, Mars-Uranus in Pisces and PLUTO conjunct the North Node in Kataka/12th House.  Pluto-North Node is powerful destiny & i don’t think what happened to her in the end was her fate. Although you could argue that the 12th house has themes of self-destruction/oblivion.  I think she could also have become someone else.

Hmm. This is interesting. I just realized that Princess Diana also had Pluto conjunct North Node. There is a Pluto-North Node conjunction happening later this year but they’re not so common you know.

    Not on topic, sorry guys….

But I feel compelled to put out a warning to the AstroCoven about a certain ex AKA, the “Virgo Poet” that I used to refer to before September 5th this year ~when we broke up.

He is a very sneaky, deceptive, dishonest individual and I don’t want any other of the AstroCoven to be taken in by him. He is probably already lurking here cos he knew I was a frequent poster to this Blog.

He goes under the name of “Arrow’s Eye” in MySpace and his initials are IGG. Do not be taken in my all the surface charm. When it comes down to the wire, he is self~centred, selfish to the nth degree and fundamentally dishonest.

Worst of all, he tells himself lies about who he is. Deosn’t appear to recognise that his blog persona bears no resemblance whatsoever to the reality that people unfortunate enough to know him well fall victim to.

Over n out~! Love to the bloggers n bloggettes. Mystic, feel free to email me on hotmail if you need to discuss

I don’t get this Neptune in Leo Rising thing … like where does the Neptune bit come from? What does it all mean????? How does one figure it out? I had a look on my chart and Venus is in 1st house … so am I a Venus Rising in Gemini? If so then no wonder I’m so dodgy.

thanks starstrokes! Ok well no I don’t have that Venus conj Asc … or anything conj my Asc actually. But I do have Uranus trine Asc. So would that make me Uranus Rising in Gemini?? Makes way more sense than Venus. Or does it only work on conjunctions?

Uranus would just be “trine” Asc. Rising means it must be within orb of the Asc. conjunct wise.

Is Venus within about 10 degrees of the Asc? If so, I’d say you have Venus rising in Gemini. Even in the first house though is quite predominate in a person….

I agree prowln. I always remember a quote of hers that said “I never belonged to anyone so I always knew I belonged to everyone” or words to that effect. What a tragic character! I wonder if the neptune prominance also means you you have to fight to keep a sense of self?

without some grounding earth it would be pretty hard to keep one’s feet planted with her astro. If you want to take it from the perspective of karmic astrology perhaps her incarnation was about inspiring a generation weary and jaded after war and depression. Perhaps her spirit just popped in to give us all something to keep on believing rather than to live long and prosper?

That’s good for everybody else, but what about for her? Not that I am saying all of her celebrity life was horrible. But maybe without any of the earth stuff she found it difficult, and ultimately impossible to learn the lessons SHE needed to learn.

I dunno but history does show seem to show that many of our heros have martyred self for a greater need or cause. But don’t get me started again on the cult of personality and why it’s all an illusion!!!! ;)

          2. ScorpintheSky’s avatar

I think Marilyn was a martyr to her love of pills more than any great social cause, but maybe thath’s a bit narrow.

Illusion, schmillusion. YOU could start a personality cult prowln!! I am prowln, hear me roar!

          3. prowlncat’s avatar

well Neptunians do tend to be drawn to mind altering substances. *chuckles* All I’m saying is that when you’re a projection of the fantasies of a nation then it’s pretty difficult to stay grounded within any kind of current reality without already being grounded in the first place. The cult of personality informs the public that we can be whatever we want to be, which is absolutely an illusion – back to that aspirational lifestyle marketing schtick I was huffing about a few threads back. This notion doesn’t take into account practicalities such as genetic inheritence, biology, circumstance, family of origin, LUCK. In other words I could dye my hair blonde, pout, sing a breathy version of Mr President until my lungs expired and I would never, ever be Marilyn Monroe. The idea that everybody has to be a Somebody is surely an idea that needs to roll over and die. I mean put it this way. In the animal kingdom there are only so many alpha types born within a certain population. What would be the point of all of them being born alpha? They’d all just fight endlessly and kill off the entire species. Some lead. Some follow. Some don’t give a crap. It’s the way of nature.

it’s at zero degrees. But let’s just clarify. So I’ve got Venus Cancer at 0 degrees and Gemini Ascendant. And Venus is in the first house. Which means I am Venus Rising in Gemini? Right?

Gemini Rising but Venus in Cancer rising as well…

Just depends on the proximity and so if both, you will have both flavors cuz girl you are flavorful..

            Okay, never mind the fuq…

Since you are 13 Gem rising, 0 Degree Cancer Venus is out of orb to be rising, BUT, it is still in the first house and at what is called an Aries Point….Anything in a cardinal sign at zero degrees or within about 2.5 degrees of the Zero Aries Point in ARies, Libra, Cappy or Cancer is consider magnified for various reasons that could have to do with the public in some way, etc.

I just had a dream about David Bowie last night. I remember you saying Mystic that him and Marilyn were the same in terms of them tapping into the collective conscious. I think Bowie is so bizarre to still be intriguing. The Twilight things has me interested as well. When things have such MASSIVE appeal across ages and cultural boundaries.

A question to Mystic or anyone about Pluto conjuct North Node. I have it and was wondering what was meant by it being “a powerful destiny”. I thought the north node was everyone’s potential destiny? There’s nothing on astrodienst about it. I actually have north node/pluto/venus conjuct in libra/9th house. Any thoughts would be appreciated coven.

Thanks, thanks, thanks for the reply Sassy! I have been unemployed for ages and am really in a funk. Today is the first day in a long, long time I don’t feel excited about any future thing, so this blog came in perfect time for me. And thanks so much for answering my question.

My great love/life purpose is in regards to philosphy and social issues. That is right on. I love something called Economic anthropology, which is the study of how economies are a part of a greater cultural whole. I feel it is my purpose to help create greater social equity through better communication between the people who control international capital and those that don’t. I have been trying to get a job in a field called “Corporate Social Responsibility”. It seems correct according to my astro, but my job search has been going on for so long I’m starting to wonder. If you are doing the right thing, shouldn’t the universe unfold itself to you or something? I don’t know.

I fell in love for the first time this year at the ripe old age of 31. He didn’t fall in love with me unfortunately. And the experience certainly changed me. But now I’m open to love I do feel more whole. I am finally over the excitement he held for me, which is one of the reasons I feel so blah.

It’s funny though. My dad’s Italian, and I think because of that I have never really been into foreign men. So the exotic men for me have never really held a great appeal. Men that are DIFFERENT to me yes, but not men with accents. Some erotic adventures sure do sound great though! That would be new. And a GREAT way to channel Venus/Pluto.

Does your north node have any conjucts/important aspects? How do you feel like it is your destiny?

It is good that you know what you want to do still and in a field like that, it is obviously hard to get in…since a lot of people dont want social equality namely the big industries etc..

But you totally need to change something, great fighter for change and equality….(Can imagine you can get quite heaty in debates)..Hang in there scorp something will appear…

Some great women had venus pluto aspects (not too sure if node as well) Maria Shriver, Hilary Clinton and Elanour Roosevelt….certain sense of power..- some bad thing yes, unrequited love, obsessions clandestine affairs.. but you grow from these encounters and you are a better person …

It such a hard thing to know what your destiny is..I have uranus sextile node..and no other aspects…i have no destiny!!! ;-)

I kinda like the APB about the “created” persona of the poet being placed at the start of this mizz m – marilyn being a “creation” an all there’s a nice symmetry to it. Re the cult of personality cause I just can’t resist – in the past select peeps were able to be moulded into the idea of something if they entered into those fields it occurred in. They became the spectacle at the hands of the studios but now the internet provides the apparatus for individuals to be able to do it for themselves. Or they pay someone to photoshop their facebook photos LOL. They’re affluent enough to employ cyber minions. Andy Warhola had a hand in this just as much as the other events discussed on previous threads. And the speeding up of communication and the upsurge of social media – it’s another form of the democratising of things. Even though it’s not “real” many people have bought in so it’s real to them. It IS their reality. If your poet wasn’t doing his thing on the net he’d be enacting it in some other way Ms M – the use of the net is just a more immediate way to play with persona.

Back to her she (as Marilyn) was obviously ultimately manufactured altho I don’t think she’s (Norma Jean) as dumb as she appears, I wasn’t a fan growing up – the roles she played were like the stereotype of the kind of woman I never wanted to become but she must’ve been in some way canny to hang with henry miller.

Pluto and the NN is a powerful thing in general. Both Marilyn and Diana left their mark. Something about who they were (pluto, transformation) changed people and how they looked at the world. In this case, primarly women. Conspiracy often about secrets, no? Pluto very mysterious and deep…Secretive…Scorpionic..

The Nodal Axis can be about parents (Nodes about the Nodes of the Moon (female)…but sometimes can be about Dad…) But nodes also about groups of people, the public.

I think she just allowed people to bulldoze her along according to their agenda’s and lost herself en route. Just my take on it.

Mystic you have got me worried as I too natally have Neptune in Scorpio 11°47’49 in house 12 . So what does this mean? What is a North Node? i have a True Node Leo 21°28’54 in house 10 retrograde. Apologies for being so duh Astro Fiends.

Don’t know the ratio thing but The Misfits was just on the other night. Great movie. Her character just gets sick, dillusioned and despondant the way they treat the horses…

Double Leo Mom had something on wall about Marilyn. Some ironic thing she put up after she got divorced from Aries Dad. Wish I could remember what it said. I’ll ask later and post if she can tell me which I’m sure she can..

My mother reads those allan pease books about men and women…and it was in there.

haha my mother used to read allan pease too. I remember reading the body language one and scrutinising her and my stepfather for weeks and whenever there was any change in the vibe (didn’t matter if it was good or bad, I was simply observing change) I’d announce to the room no matter who was in it an analysis of their body language – hilarious. They weren’t as impressed as some of the visitors. In retrospect I’m not sure I blame them.

How irritating tho. I mean they were on the road to divorce. And there I was giving them a running commentary at age 11 or something. Scorp neptune & moon there’s something in my chart that makes me a collector of facts and classifier of information – I can’t remember what it is but it was pronounced as a child and it meant the grown ups always let me sit at the table at dinner parties, they also made me put the bookshelves in alphabetical order but then I invented my own systems based on colour of spine, random things they couldn’t relate to and that was the end of that. I learned to dial it back as the need to assimilate into social situations with people of my own peer group grew. It’s in a kind of overdrive at the moment due to the essay writing – being forced to labour every point to prove to markers that I get it has made it hard for me to switch it off and I’m naturally a stream of conscious type anyway. It’s starting to give me the shits. I’m doing it right now. Am going to enforce some kind of self imposed quota of max words for posts. Starting NOW.

I agree with you in part- from all sources she did have a smaller ribcage giving the waist to hip allure but her breast ratio is kind of debated topic, her dress maker blabbed her actual measurements and universal studio people said about her fitting regime as to appear a certain way. Not an official statement but its what I am talking about.

The similarities between Marilyn & Diana is why Elton John did ‘candle in the wind’ for
Diana’s farewell, a song above Marilyn?

I was a telephone operator in the late seventies Pegs and used to plug the cord into the wall and say “operator”.

OMG I’ve done that – as a holiday job when I was a kid I was let loose on the switchboard of a huge company because the switch ladies took a liking to me and my candid nature one of them was a raging alcoholic and the other a psychic – it was awesome and they always had cake – you could piggy back the plugs and eavesdrop. It was like spaghetti when it got busy.

Imagine the alcoholic got the cords mixed up and took the psychic to straighten it out? :)

The psychic was def in control – she was imperious and dressed like she came from another time maybe the victorian era but the rest of us were in the 70s – the drinker was the funny one (from a childs perspective) I found out later she was a swinger and went to orgies. LOL role models – if I ever write a script those two are in.

Wish that could return after 4 hours total with my Telecommunication Company
& 6 different operators over 3 days, sorting out THEIR mistakes, a $1400 overcharge, huh?!
It makes me want to return to ‘Radio Coconut’,
toss the mobile, land line & net & use carrier pigeon.

And the background ‘wait’ music is punishing to listen to
15/20 minutes at a time on high
volume, yet the operator sounded faint…………….that certainly didn’t make my day!
    End of winge.
Going to eat chocolate & read science fiction fanatsy to calmeth me.

Happy Birthday Eve to Matty, enjoy your party, you gorgeous young man you :-)

NN conjunct pluto in libra, 7th house. I’m always attracting intense eccentric (uranus in 7th house as well) entrepreneurs who try to get me on board their creative projects. At the moment, I am doing a PhD in film studies (judgement in the arts would be a Libra thing, no? My Pallas is in Libra as well), and working on research that combines my interests (politics, contemporary art, and video artifacts).
