Self Actualizing One: Innocence

“One does not complain about water because it is wet, or about rocks because they are hard, or about trees because they are green. As the child looks out upon the world with wide, uncritical, undemanding, innocent eyes, simply noting and observing what is the case, so does the self-actualizing person tend to look upon human nature in himself and in others.”

  1. I didn’t see a lot of it, but ‘Nip Tuck’ was rather good in a nasty black-humoured way.

Julian Mc’s link is a bit funny, Mystic. Is he a Libran?

  2. Since when are children undemanding? My almost 3 yr old criticises me daily- well, not personally; mostly my fashion sense lol! Soz Julian, a bit of a “childish” assessment I reckon mate, I’ll still watch u tho!

    • I agree with you. And I vividly remember looking out over the expensive bush view from our north shore back verandah as a child and thinking, “can’t they tidy it up a bit?”

  3. No Julian didn’t say all that -Abraham Maslow did. I just like teaming pics of hot guys with psychologically insightful cosmic stuff. See the LOL Cosmic Consciousness post linked to above as well.

Fixed Julian link…Mercury Retro is APE around here right now. Strange shit when i try to post stuff. Dishwasher spewing hot soapy water helpfully all over floor. Previously referred to vodafone vileness. It has been YEARS since I yelled ‘f off’ at anyone. If not decades. Sigh.

    • Maybe the oiled up part of his genetic make up is what he inherited from his dad William McMahon, better known during his last days in politics as Billy Big Ears. While he is slightly gringe worthy, I always look very closely at pictures of him trying to find any clue that he shares some part of the gene pool with Mr McMahon. I don’t mean to cast aspersions on his parentage, but how did that from Mr McMahon? His mother is/was a good looking woman, but seriously….

      • I saw a younger pic of his dad once and they actually looked surprisingly similar…I suppose you have to remember he had kids when he was like 60 or something….

        • I would have to disagree with you there. I clearly remember seeing William McMahon on TV on many occasions as well as seeing pictures of him at all stages of his life. It is very clear in my memory that there is next to no similarity between them at all. I guess this is something that we are going to have to agree to disagree on. All I can say is that he got all of his looks genes from him Mum. And Julian was born well before he was 60.

          • He actually married Sonia when he was 57, was 60 when Julian was born and became Prime Minister when he was 63…Julian was 3, 4 when his dad was PM…and I was actually talking about a photo of him when he was about 20 – long before he entered public life…but yes we can agree to disagree!

  4. I’ve never watched Nip/Tuck in my life nor knew who this guy is. Never seen Desperate Housewives either or most anything on network t.v. over/up here.

    I know….what a “non-contributing to this thread” snob…

  5. i find julian macmahon very ‘ewwww’…but he certainly sums up the whole self actualised Leo thing, doesnt he. i actually find those pictures of him a bit frightening…so damn intense! not my kinda guy.

  6. i’m getting strange 80′s early 90′s flash backs looking at those….

kinda creepy….like those guys in nightclubs who had popped a little something earlier and then, somewhat hazy…. sweatily leered at girls on the dancefloor….
or am i thinking of Manpower? strange….

  7. Speaking of mercury retro…………….. the biggest horror of all uni students has happened to me and my computer completely karked it. Mother board is too expensive to replace. At least the hard drive is OK and files can be recovered…………..but need funds!!!!!!!!

And am currently on my usual bi-monthly phone call to bigpond about my email or internet connection. Anyone have any ideas on how to get out of their contract? I’ve looked at it and because they have supplied equipment and the lines are ok, it’s just the bloody fluctuations amd straight out failures that are regularly happening. Can anyone help? I’m practically desperate to go back to my local supplier who I had for 10 years without any problems whatsoever.

  8. OH woops, forgot to add in the above with the stipulations in the contract and the Act they are supplying the physical requirements so I can’t use that as a point of argument. I want to know if anyone else knows where I can get a record of the fluctuations. Any ideas?

    • straight from your telco or telstra….may have to go through freedom of information….there’s an ombudsman in WA who deals with these kind of issues…not sure about other states. you may be able to be reimbursed financially for outages if it causes you financial hardship.

  9. Been wondering the same thing myself.
Telstra is copping it at the moment so perhaps a good time to sink the boot.
Perhaps legal advice is the way.
A friend suggested going to another communications company & getting them to take
    over contract.
There is an address in Chulara NSW to send back goods. If you don’t have the goods
    how can they charge you.
    Dunno, but something’s gotta give.

  10. Looking at Julian & then his parents, wonder if his Mum had an affair.
He is for sure a ‘throwback’.
The only thing i like about him is he’s an Australian made good in USA. Tis ALL.

  11. I think Julian McMahon is a real creep and I’ve disliked both him and his Mama since learning how vile Sonia was to Dannii Minogue when Julian was married to her – did her best to break them up from day one because Dannii wasn’t good enough for their family. That’s really outrageously vile as far as I’m concerned.
