Man Ray’s Birthday

Man_Ray_(Emmanuel_Radnitzky)_1938_XX_Pisces-1Man Ray – Pisces

It is the birthday of genius visionary Dada & surrealist photographer & painter Man Ray. You wouldn’t think ravingly Virgo to gaze at his work – he was Venus-Uranus in Libra (free  love indicator for sure) but the dude had Sun-Saturn in Virgo & was constantly invented. A camera was never, apparently, to his liking so he’d tweak the thing until it suited his exacting Virgoan tastes & thus did he come up with all the innovations he’s renowned for.  It’s interesting he did this pic called Pisces – Why Pisces?

Andre Breton, in The Surrealist Manifesto, wrote… “POISSON SOLUBLE, am I not the soluble fish, I was born under the sign of Pisces, and man is soluble in his thought! The flora and fauna of Surrealism are inadmissible.”

The Pisces pic above was one of several illustrating a surrealist poetry anthology by Paul Eluard:

“…All my desires are born of my dreams. And I have proven my love with words. To what fantastic creatures have I entrusted myself, in what dolorous and ravishing world has my imagination enclosed me? I am sure of having been loved in the most mysterious of domains, my own. The
language of my love does not belong to human language, my human body does not touch the flesh of my love. My amorous imagination has always been constant and high enough so that nothing could attempt to convince me of error…”

Cool post, Mystic…sometimes I think Dali’s overt weirdness overwhelms the Surrealist movements’ genius.

Soz what I meant was WHY do a pic of Pisces as such…Kiki and co – the main women in Man Ray’s life were Libra or Taurus…That is why i thought of Andre Breton who was VERY Piscean

Man Ray had a model called Kiki. There is an entire coffee table book about her as the
darling & muse of their clique.
Wasn’t his work magnifique & now it’s just digital camera’s. I miss Real Cameras & the
time it took to get a great shot. Don’t miss the cost tho’!
The Art is lost with digital.
A lot of music affectionado’s are returning to vinyl.
Would have loved to live in Paris in those times with such creative peeps abounding.
Hooray for Virgo’s love of detail.

Kiki De Montaparnasse! She was amazing. How does one go about becoming the muse of a revolutionary art movement these days?

Man Ray also did a great portrait of the Marchesa Casati, an astoundingly eccentric and fabulous creature.
