Circe was an enchantress who had a year long relationship with the hero-warrior Ulysses. It was a bit complicated as she first tried to put a spell on him & she also turned his team of trusty helpers into swine. Plus he was married. The accounts vary but her father was the Sun-God Helios/Apollo & her mother either the Goddess of Witches – Hecate or a sea nymph. Circe was an accomplished mistress of metamorphing, a skilled herbalist, necromancer and illusionist. The term “holy moly” is linked to her tale. Moly is an old name for the flower Snowdrop, the essence of which Ulysses used as an antidote to her witchy potion.
Astrologically, she is asteroid number 34. You can use the Extended Chart Options on Astrodienst to see where Circe is in your chart or anyone elses and by transit. Not much is said about asteroid Circe in astrology – she would clearly be an influence of magic, cunning & libido. She is loosely trine my Ascendent but i weirdly found asteroid Circe to be present by transit a lot…Theoretically, she’d come in handy for betwitching men…At the moment she’s at 10 Libra. A man with Circe near his Moon, Venus or Descendent would find himself unfathomably drawn to witches.

Thanks for this post, Mystic. I was looking to find out more about Circe.
I only just discovered my Circe is conjunct my moon, n node and Lilith after reading about her in Kim Falconer’s ‘Astrology & Aptitude’. (Thanks for the recommendation Fluid Feline, it’s an awesome book) Plus she + moon etc forms a grand trine with my Sagg Asc and Virgo sun, merc and Ceres.
So yah, it adds up with my witchy occupation as a practitioner of traditional medicine. Was raving on about eclipse realizations and another one is that I’ve become even more gung ho feminist (which is not a synonym for anti-maleness davidlove) the more that I’ve had to help women with gynecological problems and seeing how poorly women are treated by mainstream medicine. We need more witches!
-
You are so right about the last part dear, we ar treated like shit by mainstream medicine. Two years of suffering with severe pain & thanks to your posts I’m planning to check out Chinese medicine. Glad there are good healing workers like you out there!
-
Well done Ariel! Do your research and ask around for the best practitioner in your area.

wow thanks mystic i will have to look that up in more detail on astrodienst. i have a feeling circe is my favourite astrological object thus far.
personally a fan of enchanting witchy women/womyn/wimmin but that would make sense with Circe currently in Libra where my natal venus is.
the waterhouse painting is just breathtaking.
-
I love it when the ‘roids come up. Such lovely new discoveries in linking the ‘roids back to their mythological counterparts. I was reading a bit about Circe lately and have always been a bit of a fan.
So I just checked and my Circe is sitting right beside, almost in the lap of my Aquarian Venus in 6th House… Any ideas what this might mean?
-
oh, Circe is exactly conjunct my Virgo Sun.
Plus both squared by Neptune and trine Chiron.
have no witchy occupation… but a lot off-the-planet stuff going on all the time. An accupuncturist I went to only once, told me after the consult, that I should rather work as a shaman or healer than in the bling-bling film industry… I thought this was quite OTT, as I feel rather human. Did he probably sense this energy?
I am going to practice seducing men by sitting on a rock and chanting from now on. -
Circe and Lillith are right on top of each other (both at 0 deg) in my 12th house in gemini. chiron is 9 deg away, and ascendent also in gem, everything else is pretty much on the opposite side of the chart.
-
The only thing I can work out is that I have Circe in Pisces – don’t know how to read what it conjuncts etc Can anyone tell me what that means? Thank you
-
Me too. My Circe is 6 degrees away from my sun in Pisces. Help anyone?
-
Don’t trust me as I’m not an expert, but your sexy witch factor would have a Piscean flavour. If she’s near your sun, there is some sexy witchy tricky way that you manifest and express yourself.
I’m pretty sure asteroid orbs need to be tight though, within 2 degrees to have much influence on a planet. Astrofiends please correct me if I’m wrong.
-
Circe 6 deg from my Sun too – in the Sixth House in Leo. I have Lillith and Ceres conj in Sagg in the 10th. Circe trines my Second House Part of Fortune in Aries. Uber would be grateful for any interps?? Anyone?
-
I’ll go out on a limb FF. (Disclaimer – I’m not expert, so intuiting heavily) Lilith + Ceres in Sagg in the 10th suggests a free style womanly autonomy that incorporates motherhood and somehow forms part of your vocation or public persona. Circe trining your part of fortune possibly means your success in life could show as material security that enhances your inner witch or vice versa. In Aries needs to go gung ho at it.
Interesting that Kim Falconer’s book talks about Circe representing a gift for combining elements – herbalism, cooking, mixing paint as an artist, chemistry etc
-
Thankyou UV! I actually haven’t read the Circe interps in KF’s book but you’ve given me much to mull over. I am researching a reinvention of career post-divorce and need it to be something I love to do rather than just money for living. Someone else could rephrase that more succinctly I’m sure but you know what I mean. thanks again xx

Thanks Uber, and it is in my 8th house as well.

-
Interesting to note, as roid 34, she’s a numerologic number 7 – which is the number oft linked to the occult / witchy poo / dim arts…
-
Wherever she is in my chart, she’s turning me on right now.
It was the Waterhouse painting! Lions & wolves & my Lover is coming
over tonight has me now fantasising.
Having not seen him for 6 weeks & he’s the KungFuing Sagg/Tiger Sherriff’s
Officer & ex Firefighter………..already a girl like me’s fantasy, hope to enchant
him once more on our 16th first date.
A real life sex god BUT all i really really want is to see him paint a wall or put up
a shelf or 5. Light a BBCue & a tinny in hand. Want to watch him working, in other words
Real Life!-
Watching a man do “man’s” work = SEXY AS HELL
Wonder if that’s how guys feel about girls doing “woman’s work”?
-
-
Circe in very late Virgo somehow trines my early Sun in Gemini, and squares with Mars & Saturn. Is this why I’m having such a damn hard time of Saturn in Virgo perhaps? And why only the witchy, surreal, psychic & alternative medicine/ mind-body healing routes seem appealing to help me thru it? I can but guess!
-
Thank you so much for posting those, Mystic! they’re beautiful. i don’t know a thing about the asteroids, (will do!) but thankfully the goddess is out & about again, and looking lovely.
sigh. peace love & mung beans, one & all-
oops *sorry* i keep getting my wucking murds fuddled. sorry, no offence. i meant peace love & mung beans everyone

Circe in Virgo in 8th house. Holy moly!! that’s four Virgo planets all in 8th house.
Circe opposite Chiron (in Pisces)
Conjunct Uranus and Pluto and trine Jupiter. -
Ulysses and Penelope: he spends 30 years “at work”, she spends the time taking one step forward, one step back, just “waiting” for her man to return. Is this the story of every woman who waits for her man to turn 60…65…75…before realising what he’s got at home? Or is Penelope really the story of the woman who gets to “pull all the strings” in the convenient absence of her husband?Rescue Reading Feminism? Two sides to every story?

Any clues as to how to interpret Venus and Circe in Aries in 9th house??????
-
Mine is 1 degree sadge in the 3rd, conjunct (1 degree) IC, square NN and pluto in the 12th. Absolutely clueless.
-
See above disclaimer. I’m not an expert and I’m taking a stab. Conjunct IC would that your circes witch would manifest in your private arena, but with Sagg curiousity and adventurousness. Squaring Pluto and NN in the 12th might mean there are transformative lessons associated with it, that may not be easy, but will be deeply felt.
-
-
Where does one get one of them there thrones these days?? It must be hard to be a goddess in the current era what with all this prefabricated modernist crap everywhere. I mean could you imagine Circe doing her witchy stuff on that Ron Arad couch??? I like Circe. I’d be quite happy flouncing around in that see-through number turning men into swine.
-
oops Circe in Pisces in the 11th
-
Cool – as i add more asteroids into my chart, my 11th house gets v busy! Circe, Lilith and Jupiter in 11th. Lilith is conj Jupiter. And trine moon in 8th. No major aspects for Circe tho. I’m cool with that.
