Is Pluto Still A Planet?

71855001v17_350x350_FrontAmazingly, Pluto has been demoted again.  I find this totally hard to believe. It’s like the planet to watch so far as transits are concerned. When Pluto comes rumbling along to – say – sit on your Venus or your Midheaven for a bit, one notices. Things change. After the 18 months or so of the astro-passage, you look back and realise that you’re now a totally different person. Transformation indeed.

Pluto is right now retrograding way back to where it was in Feb 2008 and then it leaps forward again into a whole new phase in September…Oh and Saturn in early Libra will square Pluto in Capricorn in mid-November. That’s when we’ll get to thrash the Pluto argument out in totality. It’s world order changing stuff & for peeps with things in early Cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn) it’s big shifts for them too.  Always toward more, sigh, authenticity of course.

Is anyone Pluto transitting??? And thus no doubt looking eagerly forward to Pluto going direct in September??? Basically, Pluto has been between Zero and Three Degrees of Capricorn since early 2008. So anyone with stuff at those degrees is Pluto-affected but particularly if you’re an early Cardinal sign.

If you’re really Pluto-struck get Plutonic or an Astro-Query to figure it out or vent your Plutonic merde here in the comments!

To me, demoting Pluto is like defrocking the Pope.

Pluto into Cap and hitting on Venus and occupying first house has exploded my life into a whole new dimension. I almost overnight dumped all the baggage I’d been confronting with 12th house transit, accepted all the merde from fuqing awful Pluto in Sagg transit, and am stampeding into the future.

Defrocking the Pope would have to be easier. Anyone can see he’s just an another fogey in a dress. Pluto as myth and archetype is much more enduring, and if you don’t have an improved sense of your priorities by the end of a Pluto transit you never will.

is that a collective “you” or a personal “you”? I feel like you’re lecturing me as it’s in reply.

Apologies CC! In my haste to defrock the Pope, I have been careless with my articulation. Definitely collective! I would never lecture you. Bicker perhaps, but never lecture. (I’m at work, so rushed out a stab at the Pope – any excuse – whenever I hear his name I think of HIV in Africa)

And my God, from what I’ve read about your Pluto through Sagg era, I reckon you deserve a medal or a pedestal or something. Will you forgive me, purrrlease. You can’t see me, but I’m curtseying.

 Which name Übey, bloody Benedick *I enjoyed the typo* or his real name Ratzinger! With a name like that one would work one’s arse off to rise above it, non? and I really don’t want to even think of him ‘un’frocked.

          2. Uber Virgo’s avatar

            Rrrrrrrrrrrrat-zinger!!!

Yes, best he keeps his frock on. Ew.

What an idiot to talk about OUR POPE like that whether you like or dislike him personally..he is a leader of all Catholics and unless “they” talk of defrocking him it is not a thing to joke about. You must be 13 to talk so stupid!

          4. cheshire cap’s avatar

I guess that’s the difference between Extremist and non. We can joke around about our leader and not have a mod screaming “Fatwa” I would happily defrock this pope because prior to his elevation, as the leader of the modern day Inquisition, he has been responsible for the defrocking of lots of other priests including Matthew Fox while ignoring the child molesters. He’s been monkeying around Opus Dei and is trying to take the church back to the pre-Vat II days.

          5. Über Virgo’s avatar

I used to be a Catholic, Donna, and you’re welcome to your Pope. And while the Catholic church remains a corrupt institution that enables molesters and encourages the African AIDS plague by spreading lies about HIV prevention, I’ll exercise my right to an opinion and to take the ‘mick’ out of whomever I choose.

          6. cheshire cap’s avatar

mmmm don’t type in a rush ……that should be “mob” and “monkeying around WITH Opus Dei”

Too funny!! I was brought up in a very, very Mick family. Whilst I have ran a mile from it and am now a pagan, I still can’t bring myself to disclose this to my nearest and dearest. M’dears, they would FREAK!

An ol fogey in a frock. Too funny ~!~

Ammm…. Pluto opposition my sun, trine my moon, sextile pluto, and conjunction neptune untill October 2010…. I deffinately feel it.

Since the transits started Sept last year it has been all too easy to see what needs to go, from my life. Whats hard is dealing with the emotional spikes and overreactions, due to INSANE intensity that these pluto transits herald.

Its like I am doing an extended detention at school.

Pluto trining Venus, conjunct Ascendant. I don’t really think that the opinion of a few science blinded bone-heads will interfere with awe-inspiring Pluto’s profound impact on human evolution & soulfulness…

Well said, starstrokes. A few scientists piffling around with defining it as a planet on the basis of its size shouldn’t detract from Pluto’s metaphysical and symbolic force. Otherwise what the hell was hammering my ascendant until late last year?

Interesting they mention Eris though. What do we know about her?

Pluto is still a planet. Only four percent of the IAU voted on the controversial demotion, and most are not planetary scientists. Their decision was immediately was immediately opposed in a formal petition by hundreds of professional astronomers. One reason the IAU definition makes no sense is it says dwarf planets are not planets at all! That is like saying a grizzly bear is not a bear, and it is inconsistent with the use of the term “dwarf” in astronomy, where dwarf stars are still stars, and dwarf galaxies are still galaxies. Also, the IAU definition classifies objects solely by where they are while ignoring what they are. If Earth were in Pluto’s orbit, according to the IAU definition, it would not be a planet either. A definition that takes the same object and makes it a planet in one location and not a planet in another is essentially useless. Pluto is a planet because it is spherical, meaning it is large enough to be pulled into a round shape by its own gravity–a state known as hydrostatic equilibrium and characteristic of planets, not of shapeless asteroids held together by chemical bonds. These reasons are why many astronomers, lay people, and educators are either ignoring the demotion entirely or working to get it overturned.

yep definitely plutonic here. Pluto currently square my 1 degree libran venus in the 5th house and and as I have pluto+sun+mars all in early libra degrees they are are all lining up for their turn too. So excited!! not.

I was just reading how NASA accidently taped over the video of the moon landing as they were running out of video tapes…. maybe they are having a tricky pluto transit too

pluto transiting my cappy midheaven, opposing my moon-jupiter-mars conjunction at 1-3 degrees of cancer. NOT FUN. exhausting but life changing. in the midst of becoming an academic (got accepted to a phd programme), which was totally unexpected a year ago, but maybe this has to do with pluto squaring my pallas in libra. the flighty, dreamy-eyed person I was a year ago is, well, gone.

Pluto’s totally conjuncting about 4 planets for me–Uranus and Moon definitely, Neptune and Saturn if you use a looser orb of influence, and I can totally, totally tell. This has been a banner year of tough but amazing growth. Can’t wait to see what going direct brings!

Pluto pluto pluto … why can’t you be a bit more like your dopey but loveable cartoon counterpart and less like a maniacal C-4wielding demolition expert??? I’m all for a bit of transformation, but the whole “nuke the site for morbid” Plutonian approach gets tedious after prolonged exposure ….

Pluto conjunct Saturn, Mercury, Venus and opposite Uranus on and off until 2011. Yay me.

Pluto? Early Cardinal Sign would be me, smack at the start of Kataka..and this week I have been seeing nothing but phoenixes wherever I seem to be looking.

Whether Pluto is or isn’t a planet is hardly the point anymore I think, if anything it just adds to the mystique the damned planet and its sign is known for, am I, am I not sort of thing. Nowadays whenever I think of the word “change” in reference to Pluto, the only vision I get is having one’s guts slowly spun out like precious yarn on a bobbin and having it re-spooled back in equally as slowly, in a new and improved version of course.

So it would not have the immediate joy of Makeover Magic, but more like, I went to war/lost my face/slowly grew a new one after 2 agonizing years of screaming in every language on the face of the earth/thereby making friends with all sorts of people who understood pain – sort of thing.

It does however give one a pretty awesome shoot to kill aura when provoked.
