I go on and off observing this asteroid-turned- planet. So, as she has been in Virgo since November 2008 and is about to cross into Libra on August 4, this is a fab chance to collect some findings.
Note that ideas of what she represents vary widely. Ceres SO often ends up just sounding like the Moon. She is obviously linked with agriculture (the word cereal comes from her name) and as she is a.k.a.Demeter there is a link to her as that mythological mother…having to share custody of her daughter with Hades himself. Yah, Pluto…the demoted planet. Hmm. Some say Ceres is about the menses cycle & others call feminism. Others say she signifies the eco warrior aspect of the Great Goddess. Like Gaia.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see why wimmyn notice when Ceres goes into Libra – I think a shift from Virgo to Libra usually feels quite profound when any planet does it.
Also, if you are a mother, please compare your Moon and Ceres signs here along with which one you feel would most aptly signify your mothering style…I have Ceres in Pisces & the Moon in Libra & I think i’m more Libran Moonie at mothering with occasional veer-offs into Ceres-style. In fact, I think my Ceres only pops up when i feel absolutely absorbed by parenting to the exclusion of all else. Could that be the key to Ceres?

hmm, well i ain’t a mother but when it comes to kids, i suspect I would be half caring and ‘it’s all about the littlies’ and go pick flowers with them and play on the beach til it gets dark (and no grizzling darling, we’ll be home soon, share your toys please, or else someone won’t get any ice cream) (my houses are wierd but ceres is in Libra) and the other half an autocrat who won’t put up with a bar of whining, insists that manners are adhered to and ensures that Little One learns how to read BEFORE starting school, speaks properly and no slacking off at school (moon in cap). You know I think when under pressure, Cap might prevail…as usual *sigh*

My Ceres is bang on my 29* Sagg asc but 2* conj Cap Venus and in orb conj Cap Sun with Moon and Merc in Sagg. All a bit congested. I think the mix makes my mothering style all important to me. Sort of a mix of Sagg and Cap. Be responsible and teach kids to be, but have a romp and make the best of everything available. I’m a natural nurturer and have a way of helping my people to feel special because they are to me. I don’t over indulge but sort of bring out the best in most. My offspring are successful by their own efforts but I like to think I planted the seeds to their success. I watched, listened and guided when necessary. I’m completely Earth, Sea and Sky connected and feel at one with nature, Pantheistic. Because Ceres and Moon are both in Sagg, I can’t answer your question Myst except for the above ramble.

Ceres also makes an appearance in The Tempest (Act 4, scene 1) – the musical setting of this scene in the film Prospero’s Books is fantastic.
I never knew the cereal connexion – it makes sense, then, that Ceres should be the poster goddess for pasta!

I have Ceres in Aries, Aries rising and Gemini Moon with Uranus in Gem also. I feel I’ve mothered my three now=adult kids like a Gemini as they grew older and an Aries when
they were little ones.-
interesting- I have Ceres in Gemini and Moon in Aries. I wonder if I am mothering like a Gemini now and will change to Aries style when they are older?

Hi folks, i’m a newbie commenting but a long time & appreciative reader… with Ceres in Libra on my MC i’m very interested as it relates to my career – Ceres conj Neptune in 10th house – i should be making movies about permaculture ??? I think Ceres is about food gardening & agriculture that respects earth (as most of current ag practice doesnt), this has been a lifelong obssesion of mine & was fascinated to find my Ceres placement re this. Mothering ? well my Moon is Scorp which is perceptive & passionate but can be manipulative – i’d say i’m more Libran as a parent, into fairness & respect, tho rarely indecisive… perhaps our moon shows how we were mothered & the unconscious ways we repeat that ? Perhaps as more mature & self-aware mothers we may choose to be more like our Ceres? Food production & preparation (& processing & distribution I guess) would come under the rulership of the goddess of grain, & I hope that the emergence of Ceres from the shadows of our collective psyche will bring better awareness and care for the earth and food production and sharing/ distribution. Perhaps Ceres emergence will herald an end to the gluttonous hoarding & wasting of food in a world where thousands are obese while millions starve …& respect for the turning of the seasons (as in the myth) and stop transporting food all over the place just so people can eat stuff thats not in season … etc

I have Moon in 12th in Gemini (0 degree) which is trine Ceres in 3rd in Virgo (27 degrees) conjunct IC and Uranus.
Not sure which sort I am. Love to talk to my daughters and hear what they’re thinking, what they’ve done for the day (yes drive’s them bats). Given how late my Ceres is in Virgo and being conjunct IC, I think Ceres in Libra is probably closer as I’m not really detail oriented. I think it’s important to show them through example about life, I have been known to matyr myself though.
I love working and love being a Mum, currently working 3 days Mothering 4, and it’s working a treat. It’s all about keeping my two identities balanced!
