What In Your Abode Is Most Astro-Cliched?

Libra On A Bender?

What, in chez You, is the item or room that most reflects your Sun or Moon Sign???  Mine is totally my bedside table although the bathroom cabinet (alphabetically arranged essential oils) comes next. And you? Smarty-pants peeps can cite the sign on the cusp of their 4th House, if they like.

I always think the Sagg cliche is a bike, packed bag with passport, surfboard and/or set of skis in the hallway. Taurus sink $$$ into a couch they can sink into to think. Geminis love gadgets & Leos need a big plasma to watch wanky movies + maybe a throne…

Virgo would technically be into wheatgrass but also hide a secret cache of luxury chocolate…

Crab Peeps? Nostalgia & antiques for sure…

Lol! my passport is currently on top of my dresser ‘just in case’… It’s of course always current, and my backpack is always at hand. ‘just in case’, you understand.

i think that the most cliched thing in my house though is all my travel photography that i’ve done over the years. no saggi worth their salt travels without bringing back copious photos to display, often enlarged and framed, so that they can oh-so-blase say “oh that one? thats when i was in India on my extreme yoga retreat…that ones when i went paragliding in Bhutan…” etc etc. Cliched- YES! but makes settling into domesticity so much easier when the time comes… :)

Cancer Sun: very well stocked pantry & kitchen = ability to feed a crowd & cook just about anything at short notice. Culled the recipe books back to just a few as I rarely use recipes. 2 stoves: gas & wood. Well stocked cleaning products, pharmacy and manchester. Not into nostalgia items or frilly Ye Olde Worldy stuff, so I don’t fit the astro cliche for my Sun sign there. Always a big and rather unruly garden – is this Cancerian nurturing at work?

Aries Moon: candles & fresh flowers in most rooms. Burn candles every night. I attribute my love of fire to my Aries Moon as the rest of my chart is big on water. My home always has burning piles around the place for fallen logs, branches, garden prunings etc.

4th House cusp is in Capricorn & near to South Node. I don’t understand what this signifies. Could it mean I like a structured homebase with areas designated for certain things? Boundaries? I am not the least bit obsessed with building new homes like my Capricorn parents. I have never built or lived in a new house – I think parental dramas and anxiety around building have totally put me off! And now they are building motor homes!!!

    1. fluid feline’s avatar

Nat, NN in Cancer (opp SN in Cap) means you have done the Cap thing = not obsessed like your parents lol. Now your direction is NN in Kataka, like your Sun. It’s a good aspect having Sun near your NN. Love big unruly gardens :-)

That is good to know, thank you so much FF.
I feel I have been growing into my Cancerian-ness (the higher aspects of course!) in recent years. Despite having SN in Cap, I’ve had to do lots o’ learning about personal authority & boundaries (things I associate with Capricorn). I remember our lovely counsellor once saying to hubbo that he tramples all over boundaries, then she looked at me incredulously and said “… and you, you don’t have any!!!”

And i thought that was a fish rising thing. Ihave NN in Cancer too but in the 5th and early on dealt with much angst re career needs – but turns out I love being mother (5th house NN). My boundary issues early on i blamed on fish rising – they are now firmly in place ( i think i would be much older than you dear nat which could be the difference). Wait have Scorp rising with Cancer on the 10th?? This is not the sign of weak boundaries, what’s going on here?

          2. nat’s avatar

Thanks FF. Yes, you are right, my True Node is 2 degrees Cancer but in the 9th House. MC is 22 degrees Cancer in 10th. I’m out of my depth with the interpretation of this. I have Neptune very close to that Scorp Ascendant and it does afford (cause!) me a fair bit of Neptunian/Piscean stuff – much of it wonderful but it may account for difficulty in defining let alone ‘enforcing’ my own boundaries? I’m harsh on myself re respecting other people’s boundaries but find it hard to feel confident about my own when they are breached (now that I have defined some ha ha!).

Its great that you love being a Mum – you sound like a top one! At 45 I think I may have missed out on that opportunity sadly – it just didn’t work out for us. I try not to get hung up on it – Nature & The Universe have their reasons for these things I figure.

          3. fluid feline’s avatar

Oh nat we are same age or I will be after my b’day this year.

Neptune on Asc would be big boundary issues. But it would also be fabulous for your 9th house NN in Kataka. Neptune is receptivity, searching, merging and intuitive, ie. you are very sensitive to life, may have a quality of knowing that you can’t articulate? Need to follow a path that allows expression of gut feelings. NN in 9th house of expanded horizons, travel, finding spiritual significance. Sun here – finding identity through the development of talents in the area of understanding – higher ed, philosophy, publishing, foreign cultures, myths and rituals. The capacity to understand and translate deeper meanings is yours and the development of this talent can bring great fulfulment in life (with sun and NN here you have to do this!) Plus you’ve got help with Neptune in Scorp and I’m guessing Saturn/Chiron in Pisces in the 5th house?? I’m betting you could tell that counsellor a thing or two.

And thanks re kids. I was totally career focussed and non-maternal but it just happened and it was meant to be. And kids aren’t for everyone.
Your attitude just illustrates your NN/Sun/Asc beautifully.

          4. nat’s avatar

aawww FF that is so nice! Thank you. Spot on with the interp.
Yes, Chiron is there in Pisces in the 5th with old mate Saturn (both retro)! Vesta is there too, trining Neptune in Scorp, and Sun & mercury in Cancer. Thanks for the insights FF – you have inspired me to read up more on this aspect of my chart. x

I think my home is such a blend of influences that there is no glaring example of sun or moon influence…

I’d attribute the textures to Taurus rising

Fair amount of mirrors happening….Leo Sun ( did exclaim favourably of mirror splash back in kitchen of children’s new abode…although time will tell how big a pain it is to keep clean…after the bond clean of their former place…a century old qlder…grout is now the enemy…so maybe mirrors are the thing for a splash back after all)

Systems abound, based around function and form…so probably the three virgo planets lurking

Scorp moon…and other scorp planets….well it’s nothing obvious.

My favourite place in my current flat is my window – which looks over roof tops to hills, and allows me to watch the weather move by. my couch and desk face it so i can always be looking off at things in the distance. in fact views outward are generally always my favourite bit. feels gemini to me

I’m not really into gadgets per se – but like my stuff, and like it to have a place to be, doesn’t need to always be there, or by clean or tidy whilst there, but still needs to have somewhere to go. My decorating style is pretty eclectic, rugs, different colours, pictures, ornaments etc picked up off various people, places. all have a story attached, and all ‘placed’ to go together. Bookshelf, and cd rack stuffed full. Virgo asc?

Tangible stereo -big black boxes, not crappy mp3 stuff for me.

bathrooms are defn my favourite room generally – all the water, and it is the one place in a house you can really be totally alone. As a kid i used to hang out in the bathroom to think. My bathroom in my current abode is kinda small and has limited potential, but fantastically is peach and blue, and thus works perfectly with all my blue and green bathroom coloured things. I would probably have to say the kitchen. There is very little rhyme or reason to anything in the fridge or pantry. A very eclectic mix of herbs, spices and kooky ingredients (depending on what health kick I’m on that month) as well as a completely incongruous mix of gluten-free health foods, but also junk food and all sorts of fad gadgetry :)

I think the most telling part though is the fact that we have an 8 foot high tiki bar in the kitchen. Which is adorned with coloured lights, pink flamingos and a kitchen witch.

    Smells like Aquarius to me.

On the other hand, my workspace does certainly reflect my Capricorn moon (and librarian tendencies). If my essential oils weren’t in alphabetical order I’d never find them. I have too many!

lots of red and black furniture, mashed in with light blue floraly couch. Stuff everywhere but said stuff is mostly art. Art on the walls, art in piles against the wall waiting to find space, Art under the bed (bad shui? but no space!).

Essential oils located in appropriate areas, wintergreen and Arnica in the bedroom, for all the aches from all the dance classes, but also patchouli and ylang-ylang for lovely bedroom smells, and of course House of Havisham Nightmare roll on for sleepy goodness. Different ones in the shop for selling and mood and work enhancement- cinnamon, happy smells like sweet orange and may chang, black pepper. But never ordered, just easily accessible. Always use enviro conscious cleaning stuff, bi carb etc.

Always struggling to keep things tidy, but really want to be tidy, but never able to keep floordrobe as wardrobe for long. I am seriously conflicted by my need to be quick (aries), my desire to have new art splashed everywhere (aquarius rising) and to be tidy and orderly and sensible (cap moon).

4th house taurus, I like cooking wholesome food, baking cakes, preferably very quickly, though sometimes get into making jams and such and being all slow and careful about it.

Flatmate is a Taurus, always worried about how much food is in the fridge, and always much happier when the cupboard has been freshly filled. Also, don’t touch her stuff!!!

I have a smaller red rectangle one too. My mum keeps handing over old chests of drawers that she doesn’t want anymore but none really count as antiques.

I have some special momentos that are gifts that I treasure. Lot’s of overflowing bookshelves. Most of the art on my walls is self-made plus a few bits and pieces from family members, my favourite piece is an embroidery i have done – it’s not at all traditional though, it’s very free form, a little bit psychedelic and has been described as intense but whimsical. Im afraid that my house is totally dominated by the cancer wife who loves anything old and despises anything modern. I actually love a house to be nearly bare, but with good mood lighting, lots of glass and timber, green views. What i live in is a beautiful pink 1920′s cottage hidden behind lots of trees and bush that inside is a like ‘the three bears’ type decor. All cosy, cushioned, so not my style but the wife and kids love it. The latest addition a new (old) kitchen table snaffled from St, Vinnies for $100, so typical of her. One thing i will say though, wherever we have lived, the cancer effect is to make it a home , quicksmart, like its been in the family for generations. Oh , yeah, bloody photos, and kids artwork everywhere !

My house is a split personality, Gem 4th house I guess.

Lots of bookshelves heaving with books, articles, files of stuff I must get to, and I live on my computer some days. But also art & craft materials, four workdesks for creating, homework etc. A room dedicated to costumes, hats and shoes clothing collected over the years – which is gold now the kids are getting older (not sure if this is loaded Kataka 5th house or Sun in Leo).

Sometimes immaculate and uncluttered which I love (3 planets conj in Virgo); then the moment the kids arrive home (from their father’s house) – BANG – clutter, creativity, mess, which I also love (Cancer 5th). They have a huge space at the back of the house which is good when I want to shut the kids off, or their chaos at least.

I too have a large rambling disorganized garden with lots of trees, house set back surrounded by wraparound verandahs and lots of glass french doors and windows (hell to clean, but oh so lovely and light to live in). Great neighbourhood, very quite street but only 3.5 km to city (Jup in Taurus in the 3rd). Love my privacy – lattice doors locked to verandah so peeps can’t just wander in and I can pretend not to be home if I want – hate the unannounced drop in unless someone v spesh (pisces/sat asc & nept scorp).

I’m fairly typically Aqua–a bit utilitarian in the kitchen and a bit minimalist. But moving a lot will do that for you.

Venus in Aries in the fourth and a Cancerian north node makes me very much the homebody/maker. I like my old wing chair, love my Persian rugs and my books. There are books everywhere, pretty much all non-fiction. Oddly, I don’t have a lot of books, compared to some, but they seem to be the dominant feature of my living space and I think the first thing anyone would notice.

Not so long ago I chucked out everything I hadn’t used for ages, didn’t like, or felt was ugly. It was very liberating.

I like a bedroom with a tranquil view onto lightly timbered grassy hills, (which I’ve got here), a sunny bathroom, with an enclosed courtyard for sloughing off the dead skin al fresco (which I don’t).

Not quite at the bottom of a hills that peter away from a more substantial range, and slightly up hill from the creek, my humble abode’s placement here, is a feng shui dream. There is always room for improvement however, and one day I’ll build a house with a kitchen in a separate building, (as I don’t like cooking smells in the bedroom) and I am really looking forward to the day when i can’t hear the fucking fridge gurgling through its motions from in bed.

My apartment is quite small and open plan, so the thing that stands out the most is my sound system, cd’s and books, flat screen tv and my 23″ iMac which sits on my dining table. I either eat at my computer or off my coffee table. I usually can’t wait to get dinner out of the way so i can enjoy my cup of tea. My kitchen is bare and not enough storage.

Coffee table contains a stack of the latest magazines plus a pile of newspaper articles from the weekend. The place is full of remote controls and hard drives. I love gadgets!! it must be my Gemini north node.

I had a wall of photos from my travels but took them all down except for my absolute favourite – an abandoned art deco building taken in Detroit. It’s timeless and reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting.

Bit frustrated with my abode at the moment… noisy neighbours etc. But you get that in the inner city. I do love being close to all the cafes, bookstores and cinema though.

Pisces rising – my office looks like a white pristine monastery, with esoteric books behind a wafting white curtain hiding a secret bookshelf, prayer beads my mum brought me back from her trip to India, a stylish mod picture of the virgin mary (not related to Christianity in my eyes though!), a sexy iMac and a vase filled with loose white flowers. Also a plant to soak up the electro-magnetic rays I get oooh soooo sensitive about.

AND a door opens out onto a darling balcony with herbs and white flowers and a giant ancient tree peers in with squirrels tight rope walking on the branches and the flowing fountain with the cherubs sits in the park right outside. Dreamy. And yes I live in a city.

I would have white and sensual everything if my Scorpio on the 4th darky and dingy lair partner would allow. I have lot’s of libra with saturn in virgo.

Progressed venus and mercury in Sag – my passport sits 10cm to the right of me at all times. Am dating a foreigner and living in a foreign land and learning a foreign language….how much more apt can you get I ask you.

Gemini on 4th. I now am busy applying for permanent residency in my 3rd country and have lived in 10 different houses (in three different countries) in the last five years. Also my experience of my mother was very Gemini and my parents weren’t united but functioned as a split unit.

Love this topic, could say so much more…have been reading all your comments and so many apply to me too (where we have similar astro placements)!

I’ve also got all white cotton bed linen, with high thread count and a bit of textural stuff going on….which I would imagine is counter to my Scorp moon…

Doing Progressed Scorpio Moon I guess as when I did my bedroom two years ago, black furniture…..Black louvre door amoire with flat screen t.v. inside. Black corner desk, platform bed/book cases. Dragon bedspread, pillow covers… Like the oriental design/feel overall but bathroom is Hawaiian.

Last bedroom was more akin to Aries Sun. White down bedcover, splashes of red/black. Safari-ish..

I took forever to decide what i wanted to write and i still don’t know what represents what. :(

My 4th house is Pisces. Libra Sun: Scorp Moon: Sag Rising

I have “zones of being”: The kitchen is messy but a LIVE kitchen full of fresh food, vitamins (I’m a health junkie),herbs, kitchen gadgets and culinary experiments.

Bath is a sacred space too. Tons of potions some homemade and others bought for extravagant bath time fun.

Bed room is half being used for art space but is divided from the other half for sleepy space. Art space walls is hung full of outdoors activity paraphernalia.

Other parts of my house are non-descript or storage. I do have weird little hidden/locked caches of meaningful stuff. I leave little notes, trinkets, $$ to my “future self” to be found years in the future.

Your post reminded me about the 4th house. Forgot…

I have Virgo there but Pluto on the Cusp of the IC. Think that probably adds to black thing I’ve gone through as Progressed Scorp Moon is in the Prog. 4th.

Leaving hidden/locked caches to your future self sounds like fun!

Totally makes sense for you with your lovely red and black interiors! I bet it looks lovely! I love red and black as a theme but I changed my mind as a bedroom theme because it is very hard for me to sleep in a red room. I feel too energetic even with red sheets…so embarrassed to admit that.

So with Pisces in the 4th house am i supposed to have more Piscean taste for decor? I do love sea themes and have been eyeing a tank of nudibranchs for pets but I’m so afraid i’ll kill them with bad parenting.

Yeah when my father died a couple of yrs ago i went through old things at the house and i found my 7 or 8yr old self had written a bunch of sigils in hidden caches and left charms and weird stuff behind with hidden notes for myself. I didn’t know i started the habit that young.

I have Pisces MC w/Neptune trine nearly exact and when I got back from Hawaii purchased some stick on fish for the shower…. glug-glug! So cute… :) Yeah, guess since Aries the red doesn’t necessarily “rev” me up anymore than usual…Neat about the childhood treasures. Sounds pretty Plutonic to me..

Ok I have my CDs sorted by colour (Virgo sun). I also have a lockable box full of secrets (Scorpio 4th house cusp?). But I think the most distinctive thing about my house is my total lack of respect for home furnishing trends. With my clothes I do like to be reasonably fashionable but with my house I’m the opposite, to the point of being quite perverse. If I like something and someone says it’s unfashionable or out-of-date, I just like it all the more. I also refuse to replace something that’s still perfectly serviceable. It means I have a complete mix of stuff, none of which ‘goes’ together in theory, but it all has something in common which is that I like it. It’s funny how people react – my friends just say it’s very ‘me’, but I’ve noticed some visitors seem almost embarrassed, as if they’re ashamed on my behalf!

Sun Leo, Rising Aries, Moon in Sagg – Fourth House: Cancer.

Fully stocked pantry – it is my fourth house!

Passport next to my keys in the telephone table drawer – see Moon.

Japanese theme and large black shelving – I think it’s a little Arian to be honest. Practical and attractive and perhaps a little militant as the Japanese aesthetic can be unforgiving in its conformity.

Leo element? I reckon the bedroom with good quality everything and ever so many clothes in the overstuffed cupboard…

Open plan as my nature would naturally dictate with all that fire.

taurus sun, leo 4th house and saggi moon.

I have a lot of rich dramatic colour – i think the bedroom and kitchen are very leo – dharamsala earthy red walls with deep chocolate silk curtains – dramatic leo style but with that earthy grounding taurean thing as well but also lots of tibetan rugs and carved wooden screens from India (seems very saggi)

kitchen is terracotta – with a beautiful turquoise black madonna lugged back from Brazil, wooden ganesh from India, celtic cross in the the auspicious northeastern corner – lots of tropical plants – again quite a dramatic, earthy but travel inspired space.

But everything is good quality, good quality furniture, expensive VOC free paints – so that is the taurus/leo luxury element – I do love having a creative space to play in – my home is my canvas – i also cook yummy food from many places and love gorgeous plates of food, lots of colour and friends over – yummy!

Of all the photos I prefer the wheat grass in the kitchen best.
    Virgo- Sun.
I have Aqua on my 4th Cusp and my Moon in Pisces also in the 4th.
    I prefer minimalism of late.
But, I am prone to clutter of art supplies and piles of books.
Scorpio Rising attracts me to a black, blood red sheets and a lair for a bedroom.
My Moon in Pisces loves all things mystic, surreal but doesn’t show in my decorating skills yet.

It must be my desk, piled high with CDs, laptop, hard-drive, mp3 equipment, speakers, half-read books. Yep. GEMINI sun of course. With calendar to the right to schedule my busy life & in front of a large window to spy on passers-by and entertain my neverending curiousity. :D

Although the bathroom is where my rising sign hides, with over 15 hair products (friends like to keep a tally for me).

I live in just one room though. I’m trying to keep it uncluttered, but the room has pockets of colour & personality – overflowing bookcase, mattress on the floor, soon a windowbox & orchids.

Haha I have Scorpio on the fourth & it manifests as being super-private about my flat – only the trusted have seen it, which is about five people, and the idea of a housewarming fills me with horror. Am also prone to hiding things I don’t think boyfriends should see, such as Mystic’s guide to soul-mating ;)

sweet sanity there is no such thing as cusp – it’s onlymythologised for ppl who don’t fully know astro or birth time. You either are or are not one particular sun sign. Other influences such as conjunct: mercury, venus mars or moon amplify sun sign traits. Cusp just refers to minor no-go area that changes from year to year. True astro nails yr sun sign – go to astrodeinst for chart – link on above left – esp will need birth time if born on sun sign changeover day. You are never two sun signs.

So what about this? Is the cusp at the beginning or the end of the 4th house?

Oh shite, just properly interped your ?? Yes whatever your early degree of 4th house is relevant to home etc.

  49. fluid feline’s avatar

Umm I think Mystic is referring to the sign on the 1st degree of 4th house (cusp) as often houses consist of multiple signs, usually 2.

    Reply

    1. fluid feline’s avatar

And complicated by the fact that houses begin not at 1st degree but in relation to asc in the 1st etc. Get a chart from astrodeinst – at the bottom is tells you the degree of impt houses.

oh i’m confused now FF. I think i understand sweet sanity’s question.
Did Mystic mean the sign that sits on the outer circle or the sign that sits INSIDE the 4th house. I understand cusp to mean in-between two things – like the line dividing the 3rd and 4th house. I have an empty 3rd house but Aries sits just outside the circle, dead smack in the middle of the 3rd and 4th house but i have Jupiter in Taurus 00-22 degrees in the 4th house.

gaawd scorpbots, on re-read i do sound confused :-?

Would it be safe to say Myst means the sign where the line of the 4th house starts and is often (or always??) the same as the IC. eg my IC is 0.23 deg Gemini which is the cusp of my 4th house. My daughter’s chart has IC and cusp of 4th house at 23.10 Cap, so Cap is on the cusp of 4th house and is it’s ruler even though most of her 4th house is in Aqua.
