A Sagittarius Trying To Be Inscrutable

Sagittarians, i.m.o. always seem to have the best legs of the Zodiac & infuriatingly effortlessly so. Though maybe it’s because they are so active & stride around the world doing athletic things. Not so effortless after all.

Geminis come 2nd as they tend to be able to keep a kind of gamine thing going on…Librans do well with legs too though that’s more of a diligence a la Pilates, massage & cream.

Virgoans are third-equal tie with Libra by dint of being able to bloody well stick with those no-caffeine-no-wheat-no-diary gorgeous legs reccies.

Legs tips please…I think probably the only thing i ever feel nostalgic about being really super-young is that spontaneously casually slithering into a mini-skirt and strutting out the door sensation. It’s heaven.

Leg tips; It totally hurts but doing the ’stretching out the ilio-tibial muscle on a roller’ seems to iron out dimples on the side of the legs & it’s like a good pain + amazing for suppleness.

I would adore to be convinced otherwise but i think cellulite creams don’t particularly work (?) apart from the aromatherapy oils with ingredients such as juniper & cypress.

Acupuncturists can get rid of little capillary-vein things & their cupping is amazing for “stagnant” qi in the legs. Rolfing, Myo-Fascial massage and other deep tissue stuff are all good…

And – i once read this in a (I think) Denise Linn book – any stubborn fat or cellulite on the thighs is stored anger re relationships in past lives.

O.m.g. So there is a really good batso mugwort-dreaming target for a quiet night. You go into your dreamworld, totally willing to confront and work through past life lovers who gave you the shits & you wake up with smooth thighs.

Yes! I am thinking that processed foods such as pastries are prob also a bit to blame.

    Cypress is great!
As is walking to work every day – though probably better for the bum than for the legs.

legs – walking, walking, walking. not strolling or ambling, but you don’t need lycra and exercise gear. just walk. Easier in Oz winter as so don’t roast in humid summer days. Walk everywhere, up stairs, hills, plains, mountains, getting off one train/tram/bus stop earlier . it slims your (well, my) legs and you don’t even realise – they do sort of stay looking the same, just smaller… I think about 1 solid hour a day seems to make it happen…But for tone and hotness, running does the trick.

thanks for the tip about the acupuncturists etc Mystic – i have a fave chinese lady here who i might see…

I agree UP about the walking and Virgo Cat it definitely tones the backside too, and if you’re pushing a pram it does the arms and abs (and if one has had lots of babies as have i it is excellent to also focus on the trans-abdominus muscles which support the pelvic floor – which also loves the asymetric motion of walking) – but it has to be really vigorous walking that heats one up and gets the heart racing, yes?

the way creams/massage oils etc works is via the energy/vibe thing = as we lavish love upon our bodies they benefit.

I am loathe to give up my walk to and from work every day. Good for the legs, bum and the mind!!

TA – I am interested in your comment on essential oils. I totally get that its about the lavishing, but what is special about Cypress? I was really drawn to it last week or the week before, taking hot baths with salts and cypress oil.

I’d bought it ages ago and then it was just there when I needed it.

contemplate the Cypress tree Virgo Cat – what does is speak of to you?

I like Birch for my legs – because I can picture a beautiful tall tree with smooth and slender white trunk and branches.

The Cypress tree is very strong, very old… in mythology its related to the underworld and letting go… it works on the circulatory system so it helps the body to rid itself of unwanted toxins.

agree with u.p.- walk everywhere, and yes, not a meander through the park, but stride! as in, purposefully. works the bum and legs no end. personally i also run most days, clears the head but also have never come across any other exercise that keeps me in better shape than running. have always had slim legs though, i think it *is* a saggi trait, and i am grateful for it. My body weaknesses are more in the belly area- classic over indulgence of the ‘white’ foods (bread etc) and a few too many vinos on occasion :) Def. dont think cellulite creams work but love essential oils -juniper, as mystic said- even if i dont know if necessarily do that much? ive found giving up coffee every once and a while is better for circulation and appearance of skin than anything else.

oh wow mystic, I haven’t eaten a single pastry/carb/processed ANYTHING (not even a single bite of toast) for eight years and I have an eeensy bit of fat on my thighs that Libran-style pilates and mars-in-sadge long distance powerwalking has not budged.

So I think ye may be right re stored anger/angst re relationships especially as the thighs are ruled by Sadge and I have Sadge on the seventh house cusp.

must try what is called a ‘focusing meditation’ which basically means asking questions of the body. One can do it with a partner if the partner can put one in an ‘enhanced state of consciousness’ (aka hypnotic trance).

Yep, never had a car so walk, walk, walk, all the way for me too. Noticed my legs are slimmer from walking than running. They bulked right up from running so ditched that pretty fast for power walking again. Stretching is a must too, so they don’t get too stocky.
Mum is Scrop with Sag moon and Sag rising and has killer set of legs, still at 62. She has walked every day for 40 mins or more for over two decades.

I am finding that a combo of weights and cardio (aka running/cycling) does the trick for me. The running lengthens the muscle so prevents the bulky weight lifter look I can be prone to if I don’t watch out. Lots of tone, but its bulky if I don’t let the muscles stretch.
And as much as I wish I could stride out – I’m like Ani di Franco “When I look down I just miss all the good stuff, when I look up I just trip over things” I love observing the world around me, so i meander. I can meander for hours, and cover kilometres of ground, much like a tortiose.
I think of cellulite as stagnant chi – so I like all of the above ideas for moving it! Altho not sure I’m up with target dreaming… just getting to sleep right now is a mission!

Depends on what sort of leg look you’d like.

If you like a more sporty look, I’d recommend stair climber and in-line skating. Having extra muscle will burn fat but some peeps eschew having “big legs”.

For a trimmer look, pilates and dance rule.

One of my Japanese aunties would always remind us that body brushing before showering helps flush toxins/increase skin circulation and to shower with luke warm or cool water as much as possible because hot showers exacerbate saggy skin and cellulite.

Also massage oils in like crazy. Virgin coconut oil is great for that. Cellulite creams “work” by plumping up the skin around the dimple so the dimple is less noticeable. They don’t actually make the cellulite disappear.

BTW: The grossest thing I have ever seen is a really skinny girl. I mean she must have been 5′6″ and about a size 0 or less and she couldn’t have been older than 25 y.o. but she had horrible cellulite.

Also in take vitamin C like crazy…that dandelion and butcher’s broom.

Swim every day – or walk and ride everywhere. Stretch as often as possible and try not to either sit or stand in one position for any length of time. Exfoliation. Dancing. Lots of moisturiser. Don’t drink anything containing caffeine (I try but fail sometimes with this one), and no refined sugar or carbs(this is a bit easier). But these are just things you should do anyway! I have thankfully inhertited my dad’s legs. best comments I ever received were both from dudes in their 80s. One a Cuban – your legs remind me of my first love – one an old guy in a wheelchair pushed by his friends – cor, it’s Rita Hayworth!
there’s nothing like being truly complimented by an old person. You know they mean it!

Hmmmm, I know a Libra with not great legs but a Capricorn with amazing legs, also one Taurus with darn nice ones.
Also, heard that tangerine oil is good for getting rid of cellulite -worth a try.

I’ve always been happy with the strength and shape of my Centaur legs, although I wish they were a little longer. Or at least that they were in proportion to my long torso.

Nobody is perfect though… that includes Leos and Scorpios who wish to convince us otherwise! :D

Dunno if I buy Denise Linn’s theorem. So if fat on the thighs is stored anger from past lives, where do men keep theirs?

Besides, women are supposed to store fat, especially around the hips. It’s part of fertility physiology. The Madonna style hard body thing is very, very modern, and not terribly sexy. To me at least.

    Love me, love my cellulite.

I’ve always had a great set of legs … they’ve gone to the dogs a bit, my thighs in the last few years, but the right length skirt/dress hides the dodgey bits and the bits below the knee are still great – with lovely slender ankles. I remember being a wee bit drunk years ago and measuring the length of my legs … from memory they were a little over a metre long.

I love walking best of all – anything which looks like stairs is equally thought of as torture. Now if only to move the spare tyre around the belly …. I so need to get back on the sugar wagon again. It is such evil poisoning stuff.

i read somewhere that your legs are the “last thing to go” for a woman, i.e. your breasts might sag, upper arms etc all that, but your legs will still look good so as you get older you should wear higher necklines and cover the upper arms but still wear skirts that show off the legs. Suppose it depends on your individual attributes really though!!

matthew – rowing is really fantastic for the legs, in fact for the whole body! if I had room to put one I’d get a rowing machine, best form of exercise.

In order to lose weight, it is required that your caloric intake decreases in direct proportion to the calories you burn during this exercise program.
