Mars El Toro

7569Damien Hirst – The Golden Calf

You know what…? In July – just in time for Eclipse Season – Mars in Taurus will square Jupiter, Chiron & Neptune. And that is when you will be happy that you worked like a dogged bull (lol) in June & got everything lined up. Mars in Taurus is a worker. You plod away, pulling the plough and employing stamina along with the magical thinking. More on this in the Nightly Scopes & Daily Mystic but essentially, don’t waste your powers of truculence resisting change or in pointless disputes. Use them to never-ever-give in. But if you’re some tight-lipped stoic grimly battling on to be the last person chez neighourhood to uphold some (do admit) had-it status quo, you’ll loathe the next few months.

Whichever area/sector/house of your chart has Taurus is where you’re grounded, sensual and beautiful but also capable of being SUCH A STUBBORN SOD & heaven help anyone who messes with your ’stuff’ in that area of life.

BTW re the image above – i see the art in it and as a vegetarian since the age of 5, i see also the poignant horror. The golden horns are artistically and alchemically significant and there is a massively interesting artistic statement behind the work.

Loving the whole Hathor vibe — she was in fact the perfect unison between Mars and Venus= The goddess of love who could transform into a cow – she was equally as stuborn – i also specialise in ancient egyptian history, myth and mythology! :) :P
Im stuborn all the time anyway so im not expecting much of as change for me!
ps. i’m at school right – not ment to be on but anyway! – i just had a seriously in depth conversation with my science teacher bout astrology lol

Was your science teacher into it?

I never had such in depth chats with teachers at school – must be your outgoing saggi ways!

Matt did you know there’s gold in the horns of a bull? Mystic blogged something I sent to her sometime back… surely its archived here. Egypt had a strong tradition of alchemy and a lot of alchemical imagery from the middle ages features Hathor and her pantheon.

I know its amazing! i was reading an article the other day that told the story of evolution – i think it might’ve been one of mystic’s actually??-
its said that “science and myth arent that different – Medicine is the son of Alchlemy, Litrecture is the niece of Poetry, and astrology is the mother of astronomy!” it explains how history – such as the egyptians – still has a massive impact on society – the bull was sacred – and sooo is gold

What does it mean to have taurus in the 12th house? But also just at the cusp of my first?

Never really sure what the 12 house is all about….dreams (does that mean fantasy non-reality world or actual dreams to fulfill the heart?) and things hidden……not sure. Would really appreciate any body’s ideas

12th House – Beyond the Personal

This house represents those spheres of life which go beyond the individual personality. The boundaries between the conscious and the unconscious dissolve, as well as the boundaries between human beings. This is the house of dreams and the yearning for unity.

(taken from astro site & link at Astrodienst on the left) I hope this helps although I am still very new at this ;)

this applies to me too (the houses in my chart are a little wonky so i’m at least mostly sure i have taurus in 12th).
I wonder how someone can be stubborn beyond their personality/in a spiritual sense? Perhaps not letting go of old issues, ‘moving on’ spiritually, or not gving other perspectives equal airing…? i too am tying to figure this out .

        Thank you both!

mystic often talks about taurus as a bit zen like so maybe it is good to have taurus in the 12th H – maybe can be a placement for withdrawing, spiritual practice…..but maybe also dogma (that taurean stubbornness) for me think my 12th house tells me what i need to do to recharge my battery – taurus type pursuits (especially b/c my sun and mercury are in my 12H)

Admire your vegetarian life Mystic. I just celebrated 23 years as a vego.

I find Damien Hirsts’s dead-animal-in-formaldehyde pieces upsetting. I don’t have a clue as to the artistic “statement”, I just really feel for the animal not being able to die and decompose naturally. Being suspended forever with people gawking at it (to further someone else’s name/fame) seems very disrespectful to me. If he preserved himself in formaldehyde that would be fair enough.

Re the article, I agree with the “symbols of excess and obscenity” quote. Kind of misses the point of art IMHO by morphing into some other scene – one that’s going bust apparently. Who cares if he is the most highly paid artist alive? He does obviously, by manipulating auctions to keep his prices up. Lame as Damien.

hopefully Pluto in Cap will reduce this sort of confrontational art? and I totally agree with Ben Lewis.

I guess the emphasis on Taurus will have us all fighting the battle of the bulge non?

I was raised Vego from birth (my mother is still anti-meat), but turned carnivore when prego with my fourth child. Really I can’t get into meat all that much. Especially if it looks like something dead (but I must have protein and cannot stomach tofu). I went through a bit of a cured-meat and sausage stage which I attributed to my scorpionic sixth house. but I digress… love that you chose vege-ism Mystic, you must have been quite a powerful wee girl.

I’m a taurus with an eleventh house sun, but Aries is on my 11th cusp thus mars rules the house. Taurus is on my twelfth house cusp (where my asc/chart ruler, Mer in Gemini resides, go figure). I’m a reclusive Bull. I like peace and quiet~ shh!

that dumb Cub calls me Lazy Dreamer. ha. I’m just taking my time manifesting my dreams I reckon. What’s the rush? (oh, yeah, Venus in Aries in the tenth house telling me time is running out. bugger).

I don’t know what it means for sure, the 12th house is kinda fuzzy…its the house of isolation, of self undoing, of hospitals, retreats, of gestation…. surrender, of doorways to other realms, dreams, fantasies, imagination… of deep yearnings and big visions. It makes me feel sleepy just thinking about it.

oh yeah, just had a flash back to the last big Mars in Taurus transit – 2006 – myself and a fellow taurean were going on these Looooong nature walks/hikes and kept seeing the army reserves doing the same… we both got the idea we should join the reserves and get in touch with our inner warrior LOL. I actually did apply but was disqualified on the grounds of my low BMI and some other, er, enhancements.

Wouldn’t it suggest a strong and rich inner life, and perhaps being protective of your privacy and spirituality?

yeah I agree Ubes… I’m a very private person (*gulp* as I sit here spilling my guts on the internet night after night  ).. or maybe just a bit closed off in certain areas… had always thought that was a Capricorn on the 8th trait though.

something just came to me (on the subject of 12th house – having mercury there means I often have these flash insights – as in flash floods, not fancy, oh you know) is that taurus is very soulful – perhaps the 12th just adds a depth and earthiness so that the sort of airy fairy aspects of the 12th house are more grounded and stable?
