SOMEONE tried to commandeer my Productive Mercury Retro Nostalgia post & make it all about your first/most fave music – when it was meant to be about the first thing you saved up for – but i had already planned it as an Astro-Sun-Sign-Query-Du Jour! You can go there with the Mercury Retro Nostalgia if you like – first OBSESSIVELY ADORED bit of music + all-time-great classical and what genre of music you funk out to when you’re in a seriously musical frame of mind.
Taurus is the sign most officially musical and said to be blessed with a naturally melodious voice and pitch. A ludicrous amount of jazz avatars are Aquarius. Leos are more likely to be performers than many an other sign but is the music or the stage/limelight? Film is more the innate Leonine medium. Aries are so up themselves, they’ll give karoke a go with but a quick faux shudder of modesty and consider the audience blessed to have heard them. Arieans are also, along with Capricorn, more likely to be into heavy metal than other signs. Pisceans tend to only like listening to the first third of any song – if that & they zig-zag between schmultzy pap & New Age music. Geminis are fad-fiends, discarding the trend the second it feels a bit stale. Kataka is, of course, nostalgic & admiring of history so they’re more likely to be loyal to a band/act no matter what. Scorpio too. Virgos are most likely to have a “cool” music collection that they like others to see. Librans like music that helps them retain their precious balance. Sagittarius? World music. Soundtracks….? Any band that they “know”.
And you???

Cyndi Lauper. I was obsessed at about 4 by her….. I wanted to dress like her, I wanted to know her, and when we played rock n roll wrestling on the trampoline – I called myself by her name…. *sigh*
As for classical, I like, but no idea who wrote what or the names of anything – but I like Yehudi Menuen (?). I was gutted when he died, even tho I hadn’t listened to anything of his for years…. I do love a good opera however – Aria from Aida is brilliant, I can crank that up lound n proud. And I ADORE Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Her album a few years ago of Maori songs makes me laugh, cry, scream and dance. Primal.
But for funking out, its all indie rock n roll/folk etc. Revived Martha Wainwrights first album the other day, and am obsessed with Leonard Cohen right now.
Why am I at work? I have albums to go listen too!
-
Oh and I’m scorp – no channeling of my aries asc, hate karoke and heavy metal. I think I’m more channeling the Virgo cool music collection – well, cool/eclectic same same….
-
I loved Cyndi Lauper too!
-
-
Don’t have perfect pitch – I wish. Can sing, and used to play piano and violin. Most adored piece ever is Moonlight Sonata. Loved it since very small. Especially loved Ashknasy’s version – imagine my delight when my cousin married his daughter! Never met the maestro tho.
Wide and ecclectic taste. Those which have stood the test of time include: trad jazz, world, folk, Mendholson, Mozart, Beethoven, blues, r&b (the old, real stuff), Lynyrd Skynyrd (sp?), dixie, bluegrass, Slovenian electric punk folk (!) – basically stuff with soul and roots. Any of those will get me gong now, when I’m in the mood.
Original, teen passions are way too embarrassing to mention. 1970s is all I will say. Was seriously into heavy metal and other stuff for quite a while, but grew out of it. First record ever bought – and I was very young – was Cliff Richard’s Congratulations. There, I’ve admitted it in public.
Taurus sun with definite virgo ascendant pretentions to coolness.
-
Sorry to commandeer the post. You know what Virgos are like.
Robots made me do it.
-
I should also put my hand up for behaviour unbecoming…in my defence anything I actually saved for was significant….and the fact that the beegees single was prominent makes sense with all that bloody hair styling…somewhat…music was the beginning of my individuation from family unit.

Love this picture, love this site, love Mystic.
Me: Leo – Libra Rising – Moon in pisces i think
Rhapsody in Blue and Depeche Mod-
O I LOVE that you named Depeche Mode as one of your TLS – you mentioned a while back libras always take your side and bloody hell, I always will lol I GET YOU! I’m barbie doll day spa above you in first thing saved for thread and I too had a haircut obsession – that’s what initially spawned my mother’s hilarious fear I was a lesbian, all the wacky hairdos I was taking pictures of David Bowie to the hairdressers and requesting they replicate – they loved it and gave me discounts because I was fun due to adventurous style tendances. Was having a chat about Depeche Mode’s ingenious new thing that New order is also doing – obviously to appeal to a gen y audience – they get gen y ring ins to appear in the video’s so you would never know they’re middle aged and still they pump put the sounds – one of the benefits of age – you realise you can employ people to do stuff for you :O)
-
TLS – are you in ‘love’? (same symptoms can be found when one is ‘in like”) – do share!!
-
Leo Socialite – am Depeche freak, & tho purist by nature try this for the mix
Download ‘Walking in My Shoes / Random Carpet Mix” – hear 8 mins prior judging. harking back to prior comments re mon et Ex & shoes…..oft whilst DJing at his compound, his fave boots did suffice when I only Haviannas were on hand. Needless to say, when you hear this version, tis a celebration of self…..not them. The irony of my tiny feet in his Uber-iconic fave boots wasnt lost on either of us!!
TLS consirder a well timed ‘drive-by’ past those prat school mums who tsk tskd yr sitch? blasting the above from the fabulous Blaupunkt speakers in yr SUV? Actually, will try it myself when collecting Ex’s son tomoz & report back. perhaps tho, blasting from fully worked mini-truck has less impact……tempted?

schmultzy pap & New Age music??????wtf, come on mystic. how about gregorian chant to the latest thing. hey, i even like the sound of 2 sticks being banged together if it’s done the right way. which makes me start with world music incl aboriginal australian music, african everything, those japanese flutes…in between there’s metal, industrial, electro ambient dub wierdness, 60’s – 90’s icons including eurythmics, pj harvey, madonna, mary j blige, then blues/ soul of all kinds, funk, disco, trashy rock like bon jovi, bla bla bla i could go on. ok i will. opera, string quartets, piano concertos, beats, hip hop, synth madness (cf. vangelis etc), evocative stuff like paris texas, ………..ok. one love. music.
signed, offended music purist pisces who is a bit sensitive today x

agreed UP, one love, music

I am a performer/singer/actor/writer who writes and performs all his own stuff. I have a Virgo Sun/Leo Moon and Taurus Rising. I do not know how my Virgo works for me in terms of music but perhaps its in my songwriting. The Leo moon has got to be my performative self who loves the limelight and my Taurus is probably my voice. Every time i get my chart done i get the creative and artist card.
I LOVE ALL MUSIC. I am no music snob. I actually feel like some weird chameleon that can get into it all and perform most types of music. Even performing rap does not scare me.
When i was a little boy i used to dance around to classical music thinking i was a ballet dancer but i was also rocking out to the GREASE soundtrack, which i couldn’t get enough of. I love old disco and funk and love anything soulful…
-
hey TA, yes, just not the same if you cannot sing along. i was lead alto as a child in a church choir and church music is still awesome. too much classical to mention (years and years studying classical piano, Bach preludes and fugues), used to play bits of LPs over and over on the same spot (still have LPs, all scratched) at three years of age, the Beethoven Violin Concerto, ditto the Tchai and the Greig Piano Conc in Aminor.
and yes, PMS, L Cohen is v easy to be obsessive about, did you see him when he was in OZ? awesome, almost a religious experience and definitely a sexy one, LOL! the DVD of the London concert is worth getting hold of.
currently (through Cohen concert) have discovered Augie March, they are amazing.
i seriously would only live half a life without music, just rode a bicycle through 900km of SA with my iPod constantly on!!
toro sun, cancer ascendent, virgo moon-
I did see LC in Bris-Vegas. It was a spiritual awakening a la Jean D’Arc. He was def born with the gift of a golden voice. I have the I’m not there album and DVD, and am currently saving up for the London DVD…. And I keep hearing marvellous things about Augie March, and have plots and plans to discover them, but keep getting sidetracked by other muso’s. Life is def only half lived without a soundtrack..
-
be sidetracked no longer, PMS, delay not pleasure (i so am a taurean, after all!!)
they are playing saturday 11 july, the hi fi brisbane. augiemarch.com if you are interested!

omg! you’re so on the money MM!
virgo friend – too ’scene’ read: super Gen-Y cool for school, music collection totally status symbol. would probably refrain from having sex with anyone whose collection was not similarly cool.
sagg friend – cannot stop talking about an Aussie band who he kind of hung out with over a year ago. this is practically the only band he talks about!
PS – my mother is a gem and i have watched her go through country music, classical, easy listening ’70s, etc to Andre Rieu. is this normal for a Boomer or is she experimenting wildly? i don’t think she’s ever really latched on to anything she LOVED, she just likes to dabble. i like it.
i am a virgo, so i consciously cultivate a music collection that wouldn’t bring shame and dishonor to my family. i never used to be like this! i think virgos can’t handle criticism (ha ha) so they overadapt to public opinion as time goes on. like the first time i realised that alanis morissette was not a cool artist to listen to (i think i was 16..). suddenly my four year fixation was over! however, i do truly love the music and artists i listen to. they have to have ‘cool’ plus integrity, as opposed to being just the latest fad.
-
I operate with a soundtrack and mostly have music playing. Even when I’m wasting time on the computer I’ll have a CD in the tower keeping me company. It’s a mood thing.
The earliest piece I can remember is nostalgic and now, on the extremely rare occasion that I hear it, it makes me tear up. My dad was a fine tenor and he would sing on horseback as he rode in at dusk. Nearly always “Ramona” We’d hear his voice before we saw him and Mum would say ” put the kettle on”
First album was by Pentangle as I was into folk. Love most classical but most played is probably Handel’s Water Music or the Fireworks suite. My tastes are eclectic and about the only music I don’t feel anything for is rapp or hip-hop. Love blues.
Cap with Sagg moon and rising
-
ps after lots of thinking, the first song I loved and still do was Mary Hopkin’s Water Paper and Clay
-
-
As a Virgo songwriter i love Lilly Allen’s witty lyrics and also Antony of Antony and The Johnson has amazing lyrics too. Leonard Cohen of course
I love Regina Spektor lyrics too and Bjork! I need to know more re: Bjorks astro… She damn fascinating. I don’t care what anyone says but BEYONCE is AMAZING! She is a Virgo like myself and the woman is in CONTROL
I love voices too and Bjork, Aretha, Antony, Billie Holiday, Karen Carpentar (crystal clear) have amazing voices which are very unique and carry some form of intensity which i like.
-
I agree re Karen Carpenter. I love voices that are pure, clean and seem effortless like Eva Cassidy. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t turn the volume way up and veg out to AC/DC
-
-
I liked “Oh Mickey you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind – Hey Mickey!”
BTW have to strenuously distance my Aries self from any Karaoke involvement. It’s so weird to me why anyone would want to do it. I don’t want to ban others from doing it, I’m just saying, I don’t get why it’s considered the norm. Cos it ain’t! It’s very odd! Karaoke – NOooo!!!
-
bugger….now I’ll have “mickey” on the brain for at least three days, it’s one of those toons…………..
-
I liked the original, my daughters loved the remake tho I couldn’t listen to it – not a patch on the previous one…or is that my bias??!!
-
-
-
Suzi Quatro…I was five and used to dress up like her and mime to her songs. My Mum was really worried about me.
Not so sure about Pisceans having ‘exquisite’ taste in music…
I am NOT a bogan…well maybe a bit with my music, but I love big, melodramatic rock, power ballads, men with lots of make-up and big hair…LOVE seventies and eighties glam rock…anything theatrical that gets my blood pumping. Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Poison, David Bowie (okay at least he has some serious cred, loved him particularly in his theatrical Ziggy Stardust and Diamond Dog days), the Sweet, Meatloaf (can’t believe I’m admitting this), Jim Steinman and Cher…’Pinball Wizard’ is one of my all-time favourite songs.
-
P.G just send your address, already heading your way with 2 crates of records (all bar Cher), am ‘cock rock’ aficionado ! believe I got slammed on Facebook for AC/DC tix? saying NO to gold reserve freebies & PAYING for dance floor front row, to sweat alongside Jim Beam drinking, flanny-clad die-hards!! will stand in same spot I last saw Kiss. Yes INXs is dead minus Michael (sigh!!), Queen not with Freddy, & Ac/Dc sans Bon (a toothless god). But last AccaDacca tour I did a last minute fend to attempted suitor w ‘i have to wash my hair’……& barred it. not thinking obviously. BTW Suzie Quatro headlined our posh college ball…..she is HOT STUFF!!
first respondees here mentioning Regina (gonna take Mystic NEXT time…..A.M.A.Z.I.N.G – download new song ‘blue lips’), any guy called Nick (cave / drake etc) – and the god of all gods – THOM YORKE / Radiohead.
signed Libra sun / fish rising / taurean moon & one of the only in the family who’s NOT a professional (famous) musician & I have nothing professionally to do with music. Mystic coined this blog-ID!
-
-
I do have a very good singing voice – within my limits. But I *know* those limits well enough to floor people at karaoke. I’m an alto, & have the same vocal range as Frank Sinatra (tenor). I can hit all his notes… and I milk it for all it’s worth.
-
So maybe it’s my Taurus rising that gives me a good singing voice? I’ve got the range too but there was years of training involved as well.
-
-
I never went the ripper or greatest hits albums in the early years my father was an audiophile and wouldn’t allow anything that wasn’t pure and unabridged into the home. First adored the israelites by desmond decker and the aces and my sweet lord by george harrison both around the same time I was about 4-5. Then after that aged 5-6 the Bay City Rollers were big because I loved their plaid cuffed flares. Strangely enough I ended up working for an independent record company that represented raggamuffin and hip hop and ska artists years later and my (then future) step mother was a hare krishna before marrying my father. George Harrison is my fave beatle such a beautiful natural mystic man. And I study textiles and have done an entire project focussing on tartans and plaids and Anglo tribal garb. Everything is foreshadowed.
-
o soz I always forget. Libra Sun and I can’t remember what it is but there is some kind of conjunction or something in my chart that indicates a love of music that doesn’t have a regular beat – I love jazz and 1940s-60s big band ska orchestras.
-
No R&B or manufactured urban beats unless they are dub or drum and bass no, none of that rihanna or umberrrrrellas not for me thanks nu uh not ever.

hello there MM we posted at exactly the same time as the for and against in the R&B debate just wanted to hook up and say I’m not dissing your styles I’m talkin bout mine. Sometimes peeps here think someone not liking something they like is a direct attack on their whatever it may be and I’d rather head THAT whole thing off at the pass
) xxx-
and saggo for the cup? that is so lovely and saggitarian – hilarious – I hadn’t really encountered any prior to reading this blog and you guys are a constant source of amusement to me now – I wish I’d known about you all sooner. Sagg – always full of vim and vigor and raring to go – it’s such a delight to read people vibe so enthusiastically – and it doesn;t seem to matter what you are banging on about either – it’s always SO upbeat. love it

Music has always been a love of mine ever since I first saw, lol, Eagle Rock film clip on TV I’m thinking I was about 4.
Music obsessions, I’ve always got one going on since. In my teens if it wasn’t Australian rock/pop it wasn’t in my collection. My first live-in lover was a bass (he still has it) player, Aries and into Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Bowie. He taught me quality of sound & it’s equipment, I can’t stand music played through something tinny it’s pointless.
Recently, I’ve obsessed over 80’s pop, Naked Music a label from New York – dancy house chillout stuff, Ministry of Sound, brit pop of the 90’s, jazz, Doris Day and Leo friend with memory lapse turned me to country.
Never really been mainstream until it was retro then liked it. Always liked songs well before peers got onto them, I was a JJJ listener until recently.
There’s music always somewhere playing, on computer, in cars, the portable Bose I take with me when it’s safe, radio – I can’t live without it which my Libra-Scorp partner just does not understand why it’s always got to be on.
-
As a baby I apparently went wild in the bouncenette for the Hungarian Rhapsody No 2…still find it enlivens me.
Love Wagner if in the right mood. Submerge myself in Gerswhin if feeling creative…love almost all music…sometimes to other’s bewilderment…aka the swamp music CD.
The only music that grates for me is a form of Japanese pop where it is deceptively melodic and then the screaming starts.
Leo Sun, Taurus rising Scorp Moon.
Oh deep love for Mr Cave and Mr Cohen.
If I want to lift myself from a funk I go to youtube and watch MC Hammer U can’t touch this.
-
OKOK OK I NEED TO TELL YOU ALL THIS!
INTUITION OR WHAT! OK!
the whole week i was conteplating whether or not i should email Mystic with an idea of a music segment where we send in posts of our fav music and how they connect to our signs or which songs embody a certain signs characteristics.
and today WE HAVE A MUSIC SEGMENT!!!!!!!!!!
im really good at stuff ike this… maybe my neptune conjunct uranus has something to do with this???
Matt
x
ps. PLEASE REPLY-
Matt…
Your Neptune/Ur might have something to do with this as when those planets were transiting conj. my Moon in 8th I lived in a different world most of the time….Very intuitive….I also have Psyche conj. Moon and Achilles so what that means, is that during the time of a certain demise, transiting Neptune and Uranus kept me very informed. You never saw an Aries so on her toes psychically..
See where Ur/Nep are in your chart and the transits there…..There will probably be a heightening of faculties…
-
hi sweetpea!
i checked an i have psyche 19 in ms. Aqua in 12th house….. which also trines my pluto and jupiter.

I really don’t care if music is “cool”. I want to listen to music that is honest and real – where the artists are really into what they’re doing. Not just posing.
Music being “cool” is more likely to repel me. Grrrrrrrr…
Virgo sun, scorp rising.
-
Although I have liked “poser” fashionable new wave bands in my youth I do love the authentic music in my collection. I can relate.
But, lately I am more repulsed by trendy music.
-
-
Music is, sadly, my life. I go nowhere without it.
The first band I owned the entire back catalogue (including singles) was U2. This was followed closely by the Cure. I now only really admit to the Cure now (not for coolness factor… but because I still listen to the Cure).
My all time fav band are the Pixies. I love Kim Deal… but am not so into the Breeder (curious).
I find it very hard not to attach memories to music. Ifr I have a good time to the song, I will love that song.
I have recently really gotten into mash ups for this reason… allows me to rediscover and reclaim music.
The authencity of an artist is always tricky… and I am too tired to type all the stuff I think in relation to it…-
oh vagg are you in oz? did you go see the pixies when they played? AMAZING. I too love Kim Deal – I met her years ago – early breeders era – famous people don’t really rock my world, I’m not impressed by fame but have respect for talent – but Kim Deal was the only famous person I’ve ever met who I was rendered speechless by – and the fact she approached me to talk as well it took me by surprise – she talks the way she sings all drawly and kinda cheeky. Funny woman – loves neptunian activities. The new breeders is harder to “embrace” than the old isn’t it? I hated it to start with and then one day suddenly it made sense and I love it now but I think it’s the thing that they’re sisters and there’s that sister vibe that is hard to get close to if you get wot I mean. So it’s hard to get close to with the music as well.
-
I certainly am! I saw them 2 of the 3 times they played here… and am still FUMING I missed out on the secret warm up gig they did at the NSC.
I would sooooo love to meet Kim Deal. Have no idea what I would say to her… would just be nice to hang out in her general space…
I like the newer Breeders… but Last Splash is like the enitre summer of Year 9 for me. Kim was a woman who was so sure of herself without having the ‘in your face’ that was the rest of riot grrrl movement that was coming out at the time.
-
-
Love The Cure and still do!
-
Yes I was the same as you venus..u2, cure ..and recently just bought a load of cure for my ipod as lost all my records and cds years ago and remembered how much I loved them…also love mashups for same reason
-
-
Maybe it’s a mutable thing, but I can’t decide on what my fave music is. So much great music, so many favourites.
I play classical constantly at work – Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi – Perhaps Bach’s Goldberg variations or the solo Cello suites.
Recently very into Philip Glass solo piano.
Am addicted to the Leonard Cohen ‘I’m Your Man’ soundtrack with those crazy Wainrights, and Antony doing a soaring ‘If It Be Your Will’.
Elvis Costello has the same birthday as me, and Watching The Detectives is an all time fave song, and I was raving at work today, twice, about Elvis Costello’s TV show ‘Spectacle’. The Diana Krall episode was to die for.
BUT Bowie is my torch singer and my secret soul. Apart from being the ultimate glam rockstar, even today he has the best walk on any man alive.
-
Teddy Thompson – the 2 songs he does will probably wear out before i am finished listening to them…..
And Antony does an amazing version of “IIBYW”, it too is on loop, and Rufus’ version of Chelsea Hotel makes me want to be on that unmade bed too!-
*Gasp* Rufus doing Chelsea Hotel. WHAT a great song, OMG! ‘I don’t even think of you that often…’
-
-
Über, do you have any Antony & the Johnsons albums? I’m a huge fan of his. Amazing voice. ‘If It Be Your Will’ still gives me goosebumps every time.
Very cool that you have same birthday as Elvis. Love that some of my fave artists are Virgos – Elvis, Nick Cave, Leonard. Although Nick Drake was a Gem, moon & mars in Virgo.
William Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy is his moniker) is one to check out of you like alt folk. I’m obsessed with him. He’s like an American Nick Drake. Love his voice and his lyrics are poetry.
-
Hey guys, there’s only one real Elvis and he was a Cap
-
I have 2 A & J albums, but shamefully, woefully haven’t gotten around to listening to them properly. Perhaps I should get the car stereo fixed.
Leonard is a Virgo!!??
-
you didn’t know?? same birth date as my dad – 21 Sept. 1934.
Moon in Aqua, merc in libra, venus in virgo and Mars in Leo-
Should have known by the dress sense I suppose.

I love the classics – anything Beethoven (I would so love to meet him in the herafter – what do you reckon, Mystic?). Most of my beloved music is tied to emotions, people and places – and that is the same for all people. I loved Leo Sayer’s ballads while I dated a most gorgeous plumber, I cried to Dire Straits while tormented by a tall, dark Elvis type police officer and I am a sucker for anything with angst! Bright, boppy stuff just doesn’t do it for me. I like it deep, dark and totally addictive. On the matter of being an Aries and karaoke – I did bring the house down once with a karakoke rendition of “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” by Meatloaf at a friend’s wedding. Oh, the shame!!!!
-
No shame… only TOTAL AWESOMENESS… meatloaf is very hard for the karaoke type thing…
-
Tormented Ramzie….
Glad I’m not the only one who said she did a pretty good job karaoking as did not want to appear conceited. Most of the time I’m only joking!
But if you could pull off a Meatloaf song more power to ya! Don’t think I would have!
-

-
The first album I really ‘heard’ was Neil Diamond, Hot August Night..1972
-
I’m with you here davidl, I listened to it pre-release and fell in love
-
My ex loves Neil and even though he wasn’t my fav or anything (I was too into rock growing up), I took him to the L.A. Forum for a surprise birthday in 1988 or ‘89. Can’t remember. He was thrilled…
As had mentioned, am an Aries and did do karaoke on my birthday 4/1, but had not done it since 2002. Hey, Susan Boyle started on the karaoke circuit I read…No plans there however. Did I mention I’d asked for a Madonna song and got Marvin Gaye? “On the Night Shift”….but pulled it off and my coworker raved to all the next day…
Personally, I like all kinds of music. 80’s music, new age/massage/relaxation, rock. Last week had a new crush on Keith Urban. Yesterday driving to work “Disturbed” was on. Sorta giggled at the contrast. Think Mysitic right about Aries and Cap (my Sun and Moon) liking hard rock as when at the gym, love something driving that keeps me going….
-
crunchy granola suite – am expert with this timing on vinyl. true. tis the only Diamond I play…other than Diamond Dogs, which on records also requires expertise for full impact!
D – keep up yr funny pills & we can squeeze you into the mini-truck for the road trip to Fis-Goat’s joint.to those of you who mentioned PIXIE goddess Kim Deal – she & I shared a tear. really. to longa story to retell, but 2 nights running, diff venues, she looked down to the same small girl who was in awe – & we cried. only time I’ve teared up at a gig. Frankie Black was pissed by the 2nd time….now Where Is My Mind?
BTW Dandy Warhols rule. & not necessarily cos of the track ‘Cooler Than Kim Deal’!
-
-
Although I love new wave 80’s music for nostalgia- has that summertime easy going fun. But, I love to listen to lyrics extremely important to me- a Virgoan trait?
I also like Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash. The list is too long to mention in my favorite female singers.
But, I tend to follow my Scorpio instincts on my favorite bands.
My Pisces Moon likes Dead Can Dance.
I love Beethoven, Mozart and many dramatic operas.
Just love music!!!-
Dead Can Dance is cool. Remember that on road trips with the Pisces to Vegas. He turned me on to that and Enya also. Didn’t know about Enya until 1994 when he had her playing at his place.
My Daughter took classical piano for nine years so heard lots of classics around the house…Like some, not all.
-
Forgot to mention adore Dido…She’s a total fav…
And, that the person who gave me a burned cd of Disturbed was the money counterfeiter…he,he
Just looked up “Down with the Sickness” by D…
Someone posted.. “this song makes me feel like beating the shit outta someone”.
-
Richard Cheese does a cover of “Down with the Sickness” lounge tune- great cover!
-
I’ll have to see if I can find that….Or does Richard Cheese only do it in a lounge as I don’t know whe Richard Cheese is!
-
That’s my favourite Dick number!! Gotta love the Cheese
-
-
I found him.
Love how he does the “wah-ah-ah-ah-ah” part lounge style…
-
-
-
-
at the moment I keep playing old favourites, Carmella’s Song To The Earth and Wendy Rule’s Deity
-
Love the story of your Dad Ches riding in on horseback singing and your Mum saying to put the kettle on.
She must have loved him very much…
I got tears…
xo

Oh Mystic you are too funny..and always so spot-on! I’m a gem and will often have my new fave song I will listen to all the time, but then, I am over it and will take ages before can ever listen to it again…and will then discover my next new fave…my 2 younger girls will ask me to put on the old song in the car and I do shudder a bit- I o’d on it and need more time before can listen to it again! My teen pisces daughter sits in the front of the car, constantly changing radio stations, playing songs from whichever ipod in the car, but only the first 30 secs or so, before she has moved onto the next one! Sometimes it drives me insane!! You just start getting into it and she has changed it!
-
I think I’m going to have to join the ranks of the random offended Pisceans, because I am one (a Piscean, that is)…
And I’m a music critic. And a chamber choir member. And a piano player. And I’ve been known to compose a tune or two.
Pisces sun, Gemini moon, and four Capricorns in my system are probably what makes me an A&E critic to begin with, but I don’t really listen to heavy metal, trendy music, or just the first third. And New Age has a tendency to bore the crud out of me unless it’s done “differently”.
What I can’t quite get my still-beating heart quite out of is winter wonderland acoustic indie rock generally played by people in the Northern European area. Kings of Convenience. The Mary Onettes.
The Fleet Foxes aren’t non-American, I think, but I love me some of that sound. The watery, emotional, Piscean side of me, perhaps. Anything that sounds like magic, and tinged with a bit of frostbite melancholia.
I also love old world sounding stuff (Cancer ascendant, sigh) like Beirut. The accordian and the gypsy-harmonics get me every time.
OH, and of course there has to be good lyrics. No excellent words/story/lines? No dice. (Oh, Gemini.)
That said, I have very few favorite bands. Hmm, chances are my tastes in music might be fickle due to strong mutable signs and a good dose of CRAZY from my Mercury Aquarius? … Hmm.
