Two Friday 13ths In A Row

freya-copy2 Elspeth Tremblay

Yes it’s Friday 13 tomorrow and then the next 13th (March) is a Friday as well. But it’s auspicious!

Like all of the days of our week, Friday is named after a Norse Deity – Friday a.k.a Freya the Norse Goddess of Love. Their Venus. Note that the French word for Friday is Vendredi, day of Venus.  In India, it is Shukrava, named after the Sanskrit love goddess Shukra.

Many an ancient Christian shunned the day of Venus/Ishtar etc as they presumably thought her conduct far too frivolous & sensual. The 13 pissed them off because it is the actual number of lunar months in a year, yet another reminder of pre-patriarchal religion.  So Friday the 13th was just O.T.T. for a certain mindset. And Freya also rode in a chariot drawn by black cats.

Manet used to put black cats in his paintings – apparently they symbolised prostitution – back in the day. Does this make Freya the Grande Madame I wonder?

The hebrew calendar is a lunar one, still. and they pretty much invented the patriarchal system as we know it. I think though that the 13th month is added each second year, and i believe it had its own astrological sign ?

spiders have been showing up in the past couple of days – I take them as very auspicious omens indeed – very feminine… weavers, creators… and such amazing things are happening for me !

don’t kill them it will rain (that’s the weird superstition I was taught as a child) – maybe that’s a good thing tho, the rain. Off with their heads. TA there’s some amazing spider/weaving/myth stuff on the web – u are so right it is such an inspiring creation archetype.

tee hee, we could put little spider’s heads on stakes and dance around them chanting something about bringing down the rain… the reign?? Oh, I feel so blasphemous!

;o) heads on stakes – shrunken? hilarious – banging on tambourines and waving maracas. I will now ponder the ideal attire for such a ceremony.

taurean alchemist, that’s interesting about spiders being auspicious omens. I’ve been in my new abode for 2 years and it’s right next to the building’s garden. I’m constantly clearing cobwebs and spiders come and go. Luckily they don’t bother me and I can’t bear to kill them.

Good to hear amazing things are happening for you!

skyclad, I believe, is the appropriate way to perform such a spider-rain-dance orangeblossom ;)

sr – I’m so glad you don’t kill them – in spite of my above joking around I am very careful not to kill spiders, although I’ve been known to give three warnings to a poisonous one before getting out the Mortein – ‘its you or my babies’ I tell ‘em – ’so you’ve got to go!’.

maybe its this aqua astro vibe, but i feel so fully in touch with my inner wyrdo right now :D

Have a beautiful pix of her with multi layered coloured feather wings
behind her. There is a rock salt tea candle holder in front of the rendition.
Glows golden when lit. Very striking & powerful image.

I speak to spiders, they listen. I tell them to go outside, they do.
(Or disappear when they cannot be SEEN by me).

Soo many New Years, what fun.
Thanks Myst, for reminding me to redo the Feng Shui for the year.
The kitchen & bathroom is being completely renovated with new everything,
thanks to the Co-op i’m in. If they removed my neighbour from hell, then true bliss would be mine!

Pluto in Sagg big learning curve, & now the Capricornian structure & perseverence
is complimenting the transformation with rewards & motivations.

The colour chosen is called ‘Moon Goddess’.
    seriously.

Mystic, I read that the Knights Templar were executed (burnt at stake) on Friday the 13th after being captured & tortured into false admissions, as King Philip did not like the fact they had so much gold that was not his! So, it is a Christian tradition that it’s an unlucky day as it was pretty unlucky for them!!
Have you heard anything re this??

Being slightly superstitious – only because I was born on Friday the 13th I’ve often been intrigued by the whole thing. Some say it’s bad luck & less say it is good luck. I think I have had a lot of good luck throughout my life & also a lot of bad luck. Still it is interesting I just hope it’s much more good luck!
